1 Our guide makes it easy to set up your own masternode! BEFORE YOU BEGIN, YOU WILL NEED: 1. 1,000 SUPPO s 2. The latest SuppoCoin wallet, which can always be found here: 3. Two Windows programs (PuTTY: and WinSCP: 2. Installation Package) 4. For Mac, you can e.g. download "Termius" from the AppStore 5. A VPS (see more details below) 6. Patient VPS SETUP: What is a VPS? A VPS is a cloud server, running on a virtual machine. You can t run a masternode on your computer itself. We suggest a VPS with at least 2 GB of RAM - here is an example: option CX20 For the operating system use Debian 9.3 (minimal) Please refer to your VPS provider on how to log in to your VPS via SSH, as an example for a client for MAC and Win users, you can check: For safety tips, you can also check out Note: In the following guide the screen prints are for reference only, you should update the commands with your own user information when necessary. Commands are highlighted in Yellow, please copy and paste into the putty connection in order of this guide and press the enter key after each command. START YOUR MASTERNODE INSTALLATION: 1. Make sure the system is up to date - log into the server using Putty, by entering the IP address and user. You will see the command line nextenter your password when prompted: (You can t see the system tying, this is normal!) 1

2 Once logged in, you will see the following screen: 2. Next you will need to copy and paste the following commands to update your server: apt-get update 2

3 apt-get upgrade You will be asked to confirm the install press y and then enter: 3

4 Your screen should look as per the below: 3. Using any SFTP client, e.g. WinSCP (WIN), FileZilla (MAC) (or alternatively just use scp on mac or linux), copy the files suppod and suppo-cli to your VPS. Open your SFTP client and enter the IP, username and password: 4

5 Once you have logged in, navigate to the folder where you wish to transfer the files and copy over Suppod and Suppo-cli: Take note of the file path where the files have been transferred to: 5

6 4. Navigate to the location where you copied the files, in this example cd /home/testaccount, if they are not in your home directory and enter the command: chmod +x suppo* This will enable you to run the file, it may look like nothing happened, this is what we want to see: 6

7 Start suppod with the --daemon option e.g: 64 minimal ~ #./suppod --daemon You should now see the Suppo core server starting 7

8 (Note you don't strictly need the suppo-cli file on the VPS, you can instead use a suppo-cli that runs on your system, and set up suppod to listen to remote connections, in that case please make sure to also set up a user and password.) Now (or at a later point, maybe you want to let it synchronize the chain) stop it again using:suppo@debian-93-stretch-64-minimal ~ #./suppocli stop 8

9 This was mostly for your convenience so that the default config files get generated automatically 5. Generate a masternode private key in your wallet: Tools Debug Console 6. Now enter: masternode genkey In the input field, then copy the key somewhere safe 9

10 7. Get the address to send your Suppocoin to: Still in the console type: getaccountaddress 0 (Copy the address somewhere safe) 8. Send EXACTLY 1000 Suppocoin to the address from step 7. (In the wallet make sure that "Subtract fee from amount" is NOT ticked) 10

11 9. Get the transaction hash and index: Again still in the console type: masternode outputs Copy this somewhere safe, the first number is the transaction hash, the second one is the index. Note: you don t want the quotation marks. 10. Collect the following information: 1. Label: Pick a short identifier for your masternode (do not use any special characters) 2. IP + Port number: The IP is the IP of your VPS and the port is 7777 by default 3. Masternode private key: you generated this in step 6 (named mnprikey below) 4. Transaction Hash: from step 9 (named txhash below) 5. Index: also from step 9 Open masternode.conf via Tools Open Masternode Configuration File. 11

12 Have a look at the sample at the commented out example data delete it all. and then Now add (make sure to include the spaces label ip:port mnprikey txhash index MN : FGTGF6pYXXXXX66DDDDAAAAABBBBDEDEDEDE deswde342dfr43dfggt654efs334sddft678904edcc 0 Now save the file. (Make sure it is saved as a simple text file, DO NOT save it as a word document or similar) 11. On the VPS if you haven t yet stopped suppod, do so now (refer to step 1) and then type suppo@debian-93-stretch-64-minimal ~ # nano ~/.suppocore/suppo..conf 12

14 You will see the following screen: Enter the following (or copy and paste it), replacing the red capitalized words with your data: rpcuser= USERNAME_OF_YOUR_SERVER rpcpassword=password_of_your_server rpcallowip= rpcport=7778 daemon=1 server=1 maxconnections=24 masternode=1 masternodeprivkey=mn_private_key externalip=external_ip_of_your_server Optionally add the following line if your VPS isn t set up for ipv6 to keep your logs clean onlynet=ipv4 14

15 12. Press Ctrl + x then y and enter to save. 15

16 Now start suppod (on the VPS). : suppo@debian-93-stretch-64-minimal ~ #./suppod 13. Install sentinel agent on masternode Step 1) install prerequisites apt-get install -y git python-virtualenv Step 2) if you are not already there, navigate to your.suppocore folder cd.suppocore 16

17 step 3) clone sentinel, cd to sentinel directory git clone Next navigate to the Sentinel folder, in this example cd /root/.suppocore/sentinel 17

18 step 4) create virtual python environment virtualenvvenv (if this command fails try installing this package:) apt-get install -y virtualenv step 5) install sentinel dependencies venv/bin/pip install -r requirements.txt 18

19 step 6) test sentinel is alive and talking to the wallet venv/bin/python bin/sentinel.py(you should see: "suppod not synced with network! Awaiting full sync before running Sentinel." - This is exactly what we want to see at this stage) For Mac users: Open the terminal and type open -a TextEdit Library/Application\ Support/suppocore/masternode.conf step 7) wait until the reindex has complete and the wallet has sync'd Navigate to the folder where suppo-cli is, (Where you replaced USERNAME and SUPERSECRETPASSWORD with the values you entered in suppo.conf This is what you're waiting to see: Keep issuing (or just be patient):./suppo-cli -rpcuser=username_of_your_server - rpcpassword=passwordmnsync status until it returns this: { "AssetID": 999, "AssetName": "MASTERNODE_SYNC_FINISHED", "Attempt": 0, "IsBlockchainSynced": true, "IsMasternodeListSynced": true, "IsWinnersListSynced": true, "IsSynced": true, "IsFailed": false } 19

20 Step 8) Grab yourself a coffee/tea or do something else until you have enough confirmations to start your masternode, you will need 15 confirmations. (You can check this in the transactions window, hover your cursor over the transaction (Payment to yourself): Under Settings Options Go to the Wallet tab and tick Show Masternodes Tab. Confirm with OK and exit the wallet. After restarting and waiting until the wallet has synchronized you can go to the Masternodes tab and in the My Masternodes sub-tab click on your masternode and then Start alias. NOTE: Don t click start repeatedly as it will restart your masternode and thus every time will require some time until it is available again. Step 9) test sentinel has nothing to say by navigating to the Sentinel folder amending the file path as needed: cd.suppocore/sentinel At this point, running venv/bin/python bin/sentinel.py 20

21 Should return nothing but silence. This is how you know it s working. Step 10) create a crontab entry to wake sentinel every five minutes crontab -e Choose option 1 to open the nano editor, you should be familiar with it from before 21

22 Delete the text in the file and add the following command ensuring you use the correct file path to the Sentinel folder, the screen shot below used root as an example: * * * * * cd /home/username_of_your_server/.suppocore/sentinel &&./venv/bin/python bin/sentinel.py 2>&1 >> sentinel-cron.log Make sure you: 1. Change USERNAME_OF_YOUR_SERVERto your username. (If you are root, which you shouldn t be, replace /home/username_of_your_serverwith /root 22

23 2. Hit enter to create another line at the end after this line, or the file will not work. Press Ctrl-X and then Y to save and exit. Step 10) Check your masternode status under My Masternodes. Wait until the Masternode changes to Status ENABLED. Because the network is in transition, you may have to re-send your masternode start, however give it some time i.e. half an hour and see. To do it a second time, click Start alias again. 23
