1 HMIS Data Standards Critical Changes 2015 This document is solely for the use of persons holding a current Bowman Systems ServicePoint user license.. It contains information that may be considered the property of Bowman Systems L.L.C. and should be considered business sensitive. 1
2 Changes to HMIS Data Standards HUD and the other Federal Partners have released an updated HMIS Data Standard Manual with critical changes. These changes take effect October 1, The following slides are a combination of guidance from our HMIS vendor, Bowman Systems, and HUD on the changes. Additional training on how the changes will look in the system is forthcoming when the changes have been configured in ServicePoint.

20 Data Entry Instructions All changes take effect on October 1, 2015, meaning that new and updated data elements should be collected on clients who enter on or after October 1, Some elements do not require back data entry for current/open clients, and others do require that clients currently in projects as of October 1, 2015 are updated. The following slides provide data entry guidance for each new or updated element.
21 Data Entry Instructions UNIVERSAL DATA ELEMENTS 3.17 Time on the Streets, Emergency Shelters or Safe Havens Data from the old 3.17 element should have been mapped over to the new 3.17 by your HMIS Vendor. Thus, at this point all clients in all projects should have information in If you have missed any clients currently in residence, enter this data into the 3.0 version of this element. Beginning October 1, 2015, all adults and heads of household entering projects are required to have this data collected in the 3.0 version of this element at project entry. PROGRAM SPECIFIC DATA ELEMENTS 4.11 Domestic Violence Beginning October 1, 2015 all adults and heads of household entering projects are required to have this data collected. Back data entry on existing clients is not required.
22 Data Entry Instructions RHY ONLY 4.35A Commercial Sexual Exploitation- Data from the old 4.35 should have been mapped over to the new 4.35 by your HMIS Vendor. Beginning October 1, 2015 collect information on all adults, heads of household and unaccompanied youth entering RHY projects. Persons in RHY projects on October 1 (open records) should have their record updated to include responses to the new element B Commercial Labor Exploitation - Beginning October 1, 2015 all adults, heads of household and unaccompanied youth entering projects are required to have this data collected. 23 SSVF ONLY Data Entry Instructions 4.44 HP Screening Score Beginning October 1, 2015 all heads of household entering SSVF are required to have this data collected. Persons in SSVF projects on October 1 (open records) must have their record updated to include responses to the new element by the time of data export to SSVF in November VAMC Station Number - Beginning October 1, 2015 all heads of household entering SSVF are required to have this data collected. Persons in SSVF projects on October 1 (open records) must have their record updated to include responses to the new element by the time of data export to SSVF in November.
