Type something to introduce yourself. This let s them know you want to add them as a Skype contact. Then press Send. They will be added to your contact list, but you ll only see a question mark instead of their status icon until they accept your request. When your new contact accepts your request, you can see when they are online and then you can make free calls and video calls with them.

The message from the person with a question mark as a status icon is the pending contact request. Just click that contact s name. To accept a contact request, click Recent. The number inside the orange circle represents how many contact requests or instant messages you have pending.

If you are online, but Skype is minimized to the taskbar, incoming contact requests will appear as pop-up notifications in your system tray. Click the pop-up to open the request, then follow the previous steps. Click the appropriate button. Once you accept the contact request, the contact is added to your contact list and you can see their online status and make free calls, video call, or talk with them via Skype.

1. In Skype, click the Contacts tab. 2. Find the person you want to call. 3. Click the contact name. If they have a status of displayed next to their name, it means they re on Skype and you can call them for free. Note: If you see the question mark icon next to their name, it means they haven t accepted your contact request yet. 4. Then click CALL.
