Introduction The following instructions are written for Entourage 2004. You must also be running Mac OS X (10.3 or later) to take advantage the Exchange features of Entourage. These instructions are written for customers who are just installing Entourage 2004 for the first time. If you have already configured Entourage, it is recommended that you remove the account profile and create a new one from scratch. Setup Entourage 2004 for Exchange 1. Open Entourage 2004 on your desktop. If prompted, make Entourage the default e-mail client. 2. If this the first time it has been run since installing it on the machine, the Entourage Setup Wizard will run. On the WELCOME screen, Select I want to start using Entourage without importing anything when prompted. Click the right arrow to continue. 3
3. Enter your e-mail address in the space provided. Select the box next to the option labeled My account is on an Exchange Server. Provide the following information in the boxes provided: a. User ID Exchange/Domain user - First Name. Last Name (i.e. joe.user) b. Domain lausd.net c. Password - your secret password (if you are sharing this machine with other users and NOT logging in with your OWN account, leave this blank. You will be asked to supply a password each time the system connects to the Exchange server.) Click the right arrow to continue. 4. You will receive a screen displaying a message that the Automatic Configuration succeeded. Click the right arrow to continue. 4
5. Entourage will present you with a screen titled VERIFY AND COMPLETE SETTINGS. Please review the bottom settings to make sure they match the ones listed in the picture below. You will need to verify/correct three items: a. Domain lausd.net b. Exchange Server mail.lausd.net c. LDAP Server dce6.lausd.net Click the right arrow to continue. 6. Entourage will present you with another screen titled OPTIONAL: VERIFY SETTINGS. Press the button labeled VERIFY MY SETTINGS. 5
7. The screen will run a process to verify the settings that you have placed in this profile. The result should be similar to what is displayed below. 8. The Setup Assistant will now complete. You will be prompted to type a name for the account. Type a name that will help identify this account from others. (i.e. LAUSD Exchange Mail) Press finish to continue and add the account. 6
9. Entourage should now be opened. (You may need to launch this from the Applications folder in Finder.) You may receive the following message when it opens: (If you do, be sure to check the Junk Mail folders for any message that might have been placed in there by mistake.) 10. You will need to make other manual changes in your settings to be able to use your Exchange account. From the pull down menu select ENTOURAGE, ACCOUNT SETTINGS. 11. A box labeled ACCOUNTS will appear. Click on the name that you specified in the steps above. 7
12. Select the button labeled EDIT 13. A new box labeled EDIT ACCOUNT will appear. Find the tab labeled ADVANCED and select it. In the PUBLIC FOLDERS SERVER field, type: http://mail.lausd.net/public Click OK to complete the change. Click on the CLOSE circle to close the ACCOUNTS window. 14. Finally, look for the name you in the steps above for this account. Expand your account by clicking on the arrow next to it. This is your mail on the Exchange Server. Inside these folders are PUBLIC FOLDERS that in Exchange. (You may not have access to many of these folders. Only certain users have access to these folders.) 8
Above your account you will see Folders on My Computer. This is where you can move items off the Exchange Server and store them on your local computer. Folders on your Local Computer => Your Exchange mailbox folders => Public Folders on the Exchange Server => NOTICE: Entourage downloads a copy of folders from your Exchange mailbox. The folders are synchronized (every 10 minutes by default) with your folders in your mailbox. The first time that access your account, it may take awhile for all your folders to appear and be populated with all the contents. Please also note that if you are storing your password with your profile, your password setting will need to be changed when you are prompted to change it in either Outlook Web Access or when logging into a Windows workstation on the LAUSD domain. If you get an error message when trying to launch Entourage and it is password related, launch Outlook Web Access by typing http://mail.lausd.net in your internet browser. If your password has expired, you will be prompted from there to change it. Make sure you change your Entourage password to match. It is recommended that on computers that can be accessed by other employees (non-secure) that you DO NOT store your password in Entourage.
