Logging in to SchoolWires Open the school website and navigate to your page under the Teacher listing. Click Sign In. Your Sign-in Name is your network username. See your ITS for your first-time password. Click Site Manager Site Manager will appear if you have access as an editor to the page. Access Info - change your password/update personal information. 2

Section Workspace Manage your site from this location. Click on Overview to access the editing area. Section Workspace Tabs Manage Pages Tab - You can add new pages or sort existing pages in the order they ll appear in your section. Section Editors Tab - Add people to edit your section of the website. You may not want to utilize this feature for your Teacher page. Tools Tab - Features that add to the functionality of your website. Upload files to your section that can later be added as hyperlinks (syllabus, worksheets, etc) or images to insert on the page. 3

Add New Pages (Under Manage Pages Tab) This is a list of page types that are available for you to use on your section of the site. If you just want to type some information and add pictures choose FLEX PAGE. Name your page and choose a page layout. The page name will appear on the left navigation menu of your section. * Do not choose a page layout if you want a blank page. 4

Editing Your Page (Section Workspace) You will now see your new page listed under Page Name. Click on the page name of the page that you need to edit. Select Rename to change the name of the page, which will be listed in the menu of your page. You may begin editing from within Site Manager. Notice the Site Manager and View Website tabs in the upper left corner. If you click on View Website, you can preview your work. Use the tabs to navigate between the two areas. Toolbar Type your text here. The Editing Tool Bar will allow you to do a variety of functions. When you place your cursor over an item on the tool bar, the function of the item is displayed. You can edit text in much the same way you do with a word processing application such as MS Word highlight words or click in text box and type. Please do not edit the $UN. 5

Full Screen View Select Full Screen a second time to go back to the original view. In original view you may easily save your work when you are finished by selecting the Save button. 6

With the Edit Table/Cell icon, you may edit the table size by deleting or adding rows or columns. You may also edit other table properties such as size, alignment, and border width. Show/Hide Table Gridlines 10

Change Background Color on Tables Click inside a section of the table and select your background color. 11

Save a File as Rich Text Format (.rtf) This will allow people to easily view the files you have placed on your webpage even if they do not have Office software. Select File, then Save As. Name your File, and save as type Rich Text Format. Then click Save. 12

Insert a File First, you may want to Save As a Rich Text Document (.rtf) so that your document will be viewable to people that do not have Office software. Click inside the text box, and then click on the Paper Clip icon (Insert File Link) to insert a document. Then, name the Link Text what you want the file link to be called on your web page. For Target, select Open in New Window. Click Insert File. You will see the Link Text in your Section Workspace. 13

Insert an Image Place your cursor on the page where you want the image. To insert a picture, click the Insert Image button on the tool bar. In the dialog box select the location of your picture and click Next. 14

If you choose an image on your computer the dialog box will ask you to browse for the image and select the size you prefer. Click Next. Choose the image you wish to insert and click Open. 15

The next dialog box will verify your selection. Click Next. A dialog box will tell you the image is being uploaded. When complete, click Next. 16

You must enter text into the Alt. Text field. This is what will display when a cursor rolls over the image. Click Insert Image. The image will be inserted in the editor. You can make some adjustments to placement using the text align buttons on the tool bar. 17

If you are satisfied with the arrangement, click Save. Finally, Click the View Website tab to view your work. Insert a Link to a Website Click on the Insert Link icon. Choose Link to a Different Website. 18

Select http:// from the drop down menu. Type the web address in the other blank without the http://. Ex. www.google.com 19

Insert a Photo Gallery Select Tools, then Photo Galleries. If you have saved, click OK. Select New Photo Gallery. 20

Complete the information and select Save. Click on the Photos button. Select Batch Upload Photos. 21

Select Add Files. Navigate to the file where your photos are located. Click Crtl and select all of the photos you would like to include in the gallery. Uncheck the Preview box, and click Add Files. 22

Select Upload Files. After it loads to 100%, click Finish. Select Sort Photos to place them in a certain order. Then, select Publish Gallery. Click on Home to get back to your page. 23

Click on your Page Name (Overview) to get to your editing space. Click in the space where you would like your Photo Gallery. Select the Insert Photo Gallery Icon. Select the Photo Gallery. Click on Insert Gallery. You will see a Photo Gallery ID on your page. Click Save, and navigate to your page to view the Photo Gallery. 24

Add a Calendar First, click on New Page. Select Calendar under the Available Page Types. 25

Add a name for your calendar, which will be the menu link to your calendar on the left side of your website. Click Save. Your calendar will be accessible from the Page Name area. Click on the link to edit the calendar. Select Rename to change the name of the calendar, which will be listed in the menu. 26

Edit the Calendar Double click on a date to add an event, or on the New Event tab for advanced settings. Complete the fields with an asterisk at a minimum. You may set the event to recur, or select a Category to color code your calendar. 27

Accessing SchoolWires Tutorials To access Tutorials, click on the icon in the upper right corner. A screen will appear with options for tutorial selections, or Search Tutorials. 28

You may also click on Community & Support to access a variety of tutorials, handouts, and information. This will take you to the SchoolWires support website. 29
