Look for VMware Horizon Client for Mac, and click on Go to Downloads to the right. 2. Click on the Download button. The.dmg (disk image) will usually download to your downloads folder. 3. You will be presented with a license agreement before you can install the app. Click on Agree to continue. 4. Once the disk image mounts, you ll see a window similar to this one. Click and hold on the green Horizon Client icon and drag it over the Applications folder to the right. This will copy the app to the Applications folder. 5. Open the Application Folder. One way to do this is to open Finder, click on the Go menu, and click on Applications. When Finder is open, you can actually use the keyboard shortcuts next to the folders to open them. To open the Applications folder, you d press Shift+Command+A at the same time. 6. Setup the Connection 8.Click on the New Server button. Then, enter mydesktop.cincinnatistate.edu as the Connection Server. Click on Connect. 9. Once connected, sign in. Use the same Username and password you use for MyCState/ Blackboard. Cincinnati State Horizon Client - MacOS Page!4
10. Click on the station you want to connect to. Students will need to connect to Student Stations. Staff members will have a Staff Station if they have requested one. Faculty will have a Faculty Station, but the Faculty stations have the same rights and permissions as Student Stations. It may take a minute or two for your desktop to be created. 11. You may be asked to start remote USB services and/or Folder Redirection. If you the admin password for your Mac, click click on continue. NOTE: By default, the Virtual Desktop will open in Full Screen Mode. If you don t want it open in Full Screen, Press down the Control+Command+F keys at the same time. This will turn the window your Virtual Desktop is in into a standard window that you can move around and resize. Saving Files Regardless of the type of station you have, it s a bad idea to save anything you want to keep on your Virtual Desktop. Student stations do not maintain the data saved on the Desktop or in folders. So you should always save your files on your Z: drive, OneDrive, a flash drive, or a folder on your computer. Staff should save business files on a network drive. Staff are informed if the desktops are being rebuilt, but it s always best to save critical files on the network. If you need to access a file on your Mac, check to see if your Home folder has been redirected to the Virtual Desktop. If it s been redirected, it will show up under Devices and drives under This PC. NOTE: If you are having a problem opening a file that s stored on your Mac, you may need to move it to the Virtual Desktop. Files that exist only in the Windows environment, such as Access databases or Excel Spreadsheets with the.iqy extension are most likely to have a problem. To change the folders that are shared with the Virtual Desktop, Go to the VMware Horizon Client menu, and then Preferences. Click on Sharing. Click on the + button to add a folder, or select a folder and click on the - to remove it from shared folders. Disconnect Send Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Connect USB Devices, or Disconnect If you need to send a Ctrl+Alt+Delete command, connect a USB device or, Disconnect from the desktop without logging off, look for the three icons in the upper left next to your window controls. If you re in Full Screen, you may need to mouse to the top of the screen for a few seconds to get them to show up. Disconnect Manage USB Devices Send Ctrl+Alt+Delete command to the station.
