A U0999 abend RC4 is encountered after CTS995E is issued from CTSUXENT when L0C6INIT is in the process of loading system resident routines after an IPL. If OAM is started while CA 1 is being activated after an IPL and an INSERT is performed by CBRUXENT(CTSUXENT), a U0999 RC4 may be issued from TMSSVC. This is because the CA 1 TMVT is still in the process of being populated by L0C6INIT's processing and before TMSINIT has been activated. CBRUXENT is disabled by OAM and has to be reset. If an RMF definition contains either a "#" or a "@" preceded by an escape character "\", the retention type may be incorrectly listed. If the resulting RMF pattern contains a fully qualified data set name after processing to indicate the "#" or "@" are actually characters in the data set name, and not masking characters, the retention type will be incorrectly listed as a Type 2 (single character substitution) and not as a Type 0 (fully qualified). Incorrect information on the TLMS016 report. This does not affect the operation of the pattern masking function and the rule is still processed correctly. This value is not displayed on CA 1 report output. This change will only affect the CA TLMS TLMS016 report output, and will not have any effect on CA 1 users. ENTRIES = ++PTF (RO65238) ENHANCEMENT: PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS TO CTSDEU This PTF provides a number of corrections and improvements to the CTSDEU data erase utility. 1) PARM=LAST has been changed to mount and process only the last volume of a multi-volume set. This avoids mounting earlier volumes to position to the last volume. 2) It is no longer required to code the first volume of a multi-volume set in the JCL. Any volume of a multi-volume set may be coded in the JCL and CTSDEU will position to the first volume of the set unless PARM=LAST is coded. 3) CTSDEU has been changed to use forward space file in place of reading every block on a tape. This can result in significant savings of CPU and clock time. 4) When running CTSDEU against a CA 1 managed scratch tape the following fields are now set to zero: TMVOLP - Total tape percentage in use TMFILEP - Tape percentage used by file TMCMPRS - Compression ratio 5) Corrected a problem where the dataset erase log report had garbage printed in the header of the report. 6) All CTSDEU error messages have been updated to use a CA$F2XX prefix. Messages CA$F209E and CA$F210E are also being removed since the tape management system (CA 1 or CA TLMS) will issue their version of these messages first. 7) Corrects a rare 'IEBTMS2 CCW WAS REJECTED' message when attempting to erase residual data on a tape that is part of a multi-volume set but is NOT the last volume of the set that had been created by CA Tape Encryption and PARM=LAST was not used. 1) None 2) None 3) None 4) Residual data left in fields TMVOLP, TMFILEP and TMCMPRS for scratch tapes in CA 1 only. 5) Dataset erase log report has garbage in header. 6) IEBTMS messages issues for CA TLMS users. 7) Message 'IEBTMS2 CCW WAS REJECTED' may be issued when erasing residual data in rare situations. 1) None 2) None 3) None 4) Incorrect values for TMVOLP, TMFILEP and TMCMPRS fields for CA 1 users. 5) None 6) Misleading message identifier used. 7) CTSDEU job fails after issuing 'IEBTMS2 CCW WAS REJECTED'. 1-6) None 7) Specify PARM=LAST to only erase residual data from the last volume. ENTRIES = ++PTF (RO65556) ENHANCEMENT: NEW FUNCTIONS FOR CTSSYNC UTILITY This PTF adds support for two new functions to the CTSSYNC utility used to synchronize CA 1 or CA TLMS with an IBM VTS. A new batch program, CTSXLIST, has also been added to call the IBM CBRUXEJC Volume Eject Exit, to process any tapes selected by the COPY/EXPORT function as if a Copy/ MOVE function had been performed. 1) The COPY/EXPORT function is added to perform an EXPORT without removing the tape volume from the VTS. A new control statement COPY is used to request this function. 2) A new SYNCTEST function is added. When SYNCTEST is requested a SYNC function is performed however the OAM database is not updated. The SYNCTEST also compares the CA 1 TMC or CA TLMS VMF with both the OAM VOLCAT/TCDB as well as the Library Manager database. If there is any difference between the 3 data bases being compared an error message will be issued. Even if the difference is between the IBM LM database and the IBM VOLCAT/TCDB, a new error message will be issued. 3) A new utility (CTSXLIST) is added that will read the status file (file sequence 3 on the virtual volume created by CTSSYNC) and will call the CBRUXEJC (Eject Cartridge exit) as if a MOVE/EXPORT function had been performed. This will allow CA 1 and TLMS to be udpated to reflect the actual container volume that the virtual volume has been copied to. 1) N/A 2) N/A 3) N/A 1) N/A 2) N/A 3) N/A 1) N/A 2) N/A 3) N/A PRODUCT(S) AFFECTED: CA 1 Tape Management Release: 12.6 CA TLMS Tape Management Release: 12.6 CM-$F 218 Copyright (C) 2013 CA. CA 1 Tape Management 12.6 12 CA RS 1404 - PTF RO65556 (VOLCAT) and the Library Manager (LM) database are compared with the TMC or VMF. If all 3 database/catalogs are not in-sync with each other regarding the status of the volume, an error is reported to both the SYSPRINT and ERREPORT DD statements. (new paragraph) COPY The COPY command performs in a similar fashion to the EXPORT command, except that the exported volumes will be copied as opposed to being moved. The VOLSERs to be exported must be listed below the COPY command in the SYSIN DD. Note: The POOL parameter must be specified before the volumes to be exported. Otherwise, an abend will occur. (new paragraph) POOL= POOL parameter is a keyword parameter that is only used with the COPY command to specify the physical volume pool that contains the logical volumes to export. After the "report headings and their definitions:" or "ATL ACTION messages" add the following; OUT OF SYNC: TVIUSEA = x & TVILCAT = yy SYNC operation failed. The ATL TCDB status x and LM status yy are different. Please use IBM ISMF panels to resolve the discrepancy. For more information regarding status settings, please see DFSMS Object Access Method Planning, Installation, and Storage Administration Guide for Tape Libraries. OUT OF SYNC: ROBOT= xxx & TAPEMGMT= yyy The tape robot and tape management system both have different settings. This will be fixed if CTSSYNC was run with a PARM='SYNC'. Also add to the CTSSYNC ATL RESPONSE LOG: QUERY DC0013 QUERY COMPLETE, VOLUME IN ROBOT ERROR(S) QUERY DC0013 OUT OF SYNC: TVIUSEA = S & TVILCAT = UN Also, need to add a Module to the list for CTSXLIST: CTSXLIST Utility - Export Virtual Volumes onto Physical Volumes Use the CTSXLIST utility to read volsers from a VTS Export Status file from CTSSYNC after a COPY/Export (COPY,POOL=xx) operation has completed. This utility will read the status file (file-3) on the tape created by CTSSYNC as input, and will then drive the standard CBRUXEJC exit as if a MOVE/Export operation has been performed. This will update the ACTVOL field within the tape management system to indicate which physical volume the virtual volume(s) have been stacked upon. This utility should be run after using CTSSYNC to perform Copy/Export processing. Prevent a rare situation where the CPU ID stored in CTL#5 (used with a BLOCKSET Audit) is corrupted and no longer valid. The Audit appears to be full (reached its threshold) even after TMSCOPY has been executed. CA 1 Batch Utilities (TMSCLEAN, TMSEXPDT, etc.) may abend with a U0008 because the Audit is full. Running TMSCOPY will not empty the Audit file. Use the TMSUDSNB utility to correct CTL#5. PRODUCT(S) AFFECTED: CA 1 Tape Management Release: 12.6 1 2083 VERY RARE S130/S430 ABEND IF AUDB4=ALL AND CA 1 AUDIT FULL A very rare condition exists that could result in a S130 or S430 abend if CA 1 option AUDB4 is set to ALL and the CA 1 Audit dataset becomes 100% full. If the S130 or S430 occurs while there is lots of O/C/EOV concurrent activity, it could further result in the TMC becoming corrupted itself. The S130 or S430 abends will be preceded by a S7YY abend indicating that the Audit file is full. A rare S130 or S430 abend of a tape job. If the S130 or S430 abend has occurred and there was concurrent O/C/EOV events taking place that caused the TMC to be corrupted, TMSCOPY will abend with a U1005-14. Without RO57991 applied, if the previous execution of TMSXTEND did not end successfully and the "Extend is in Progress" indicator in CTL#4 is left on, CA 1 processing will act as if AUDB4 is set to YES as well. If a S130 or S430 abend occurred, run TMSCOPY to resolve the Audit full condition and restart the job. If the TMSCOPY abends with a U1005-14, then run TMSCOPY RESTORE to restore the TMC followed by another TMSCOPY to backup the restored TMC. Run TMSCOPY when the IEFTMS9 - TMC BACKUP REQUIRED console message is issued. Set the CA 1 option AUDB4 to BATCH or NONE. Either apply PTF RO57991 or manually validate that TMSCTL#4 does not reflect that a TMSXTEND is currently running when it is not (AUDIT-FLAG in CTL#4). RO57991 validates the AUDIT-FLAG ruing TMSINIT and TMSCOPY, so no need to manually validate CTL#4 if RO57991 is applied. PRODUCT(S) AFFECTED: CA 1-MVS Tape Management Release 12.6 1 2163 TMSINIT NEW AUDIT EXCEPTION RECORD CREATED AT SHUTDOWN Create a new Audit type-5 exception record when CA 1 is shutdown(made inactive). This new Audit record will also cause the removal of the CPU from CTL#5 (if a BLOCKSET Audit is in use). The also corrects a rare lock on TMSQNAME AUDBUF1. A new Audit type-5 exception record will be generated to indicate that CA 1 was shutdown. If a BLOCKSET Audit is in use, and a CPU/LPAR is being shut-down for longer than 6-12 hours, CA 1 should be shut-down (made inactive) after all tape processing has completed. This will insure the CPU-ID has been removed from CTL#5. Use TMSUDSNB to update CTL#5 to remove the CPU/LPAR that has been shut-down. The 2 problems affect both CA 1 and TLMS clients, but the new enhancement is only related to CA 1 clients at this time. 1) Without this APAR applied, the INHIBIT SUPERVISOR flag is not set in the DEB when the Read-Buffered-Log is issued during CLOSE processing. This results in RBL data being unavailable during a subsequent RBL that in turn is used to update the statistics in the SMF21 type record. 2) The compression ratio may not be correct for very large data files due to some truncation errors. 3) The enhancement is to return the total number of bytes actually written by the tape application to the device. This may be different than the simple block-count times block-size calculation. 1) The SMF21 records do not reflect the amount of data written to a tape file. 2) The compression value will be zero in the TMC/VMF for very large tape files. 3) None. 1) Reporting based on SMF21 format records will not be correct for tape files. 2) Reporting based on the compression field in the TMC/VMF may not be correct for very large tape files. 3) None.
