LoadCentre KQ+ Distribution boards - benefits Safety IP2X factory fitted busbar assembly with non removable insulating barriers, provide protection against accidental direct contact. This is particularly useful if work such as testing and commissioning is required on an energised enclosure. Neutral terminal bar cover provides additional shielding of live parts. This is secured by screw fixing to prevent accidental disturbance in order to maintain safety levels. Distribution boards and devices are 3 rd party type tested to 20kA (MCCB incomer), to BS EN 60439. High Performance Two frame sizes - 125A B boards and 250A B boards with up to 72 outgoing SP ways. LoadCentre KQ+ is designed to cater for the most demanding of installations. Boards accept 10kA MCB s and RCBO s. 20kA conditional short circuit rating. Range of three and four pole incoming devices. 25mm 2 earth and neutral terminals as standard. Easy Installation Even faster plug on system for MCB s and RCBO s. 50% fewer connections to make. A new integral cable way is provided for control cables, making installation easier. A new split earth and neutral bar design means all terminals are easily accessible from either side of the distribution board. Common enclosure sizes and a range of extension boxes simplify group mounting of boards. Removable gland plates (one plain and one with knockouts) provide quick and safe cable entry. 7

LoadCentre KQ+ Distribution boards - benefits Easy Installation - continued Improved symmetrical layout and increased enclosure size provides more wiring space, avoids cable bunching. Incoming devices are an integral feature of all distribution boards. No extension boxes, joining kits or special tools are needed to fit incoming devices. A new modified standards design and production facility means Square D can now engineer bespoke products to meet your specific needs. Typical applications so far have included: boards to meet the exact colour scheme of the buildings interior or a customers corporate image, new combinations of split load consumer units and distribution boards with enclosure dimensions to accommodate electrical cupboards with restricted access. A new improved incomer design means the time taken to fit incoming devices is reduced by up to 70%. Extensive Choice Over 500 distribution board and incomer combinations to choose from. LoadCentre KQ+ MCB discrimination and cascading Discrimination Discrimination is the co-ordination of circuit breakers such that when a fault occurs in a network it is cleared by the breaker immediately upstream of the fault. No breaker further upstream operates. Thus the number of circuits affected by the fault is minimised. In many cases full discrimination is achieved up to the breaking capacity of the breaker disconnecting the fault. This is indicated by 'F' in the table below. In other cases discrimination is achieved up to a lesser current as indicated below in amps. The upstream breaker, which must have the required breaking capacity, limits the fault current to that which may safely be interrupted by the downstream breaker. In the case of a high fault current both breakers may operate. LoadCentre KQ+ Protection of lamp circuits The following table gives recommended circuit breaker ratings for use in circuits with discharge lamps. Ratings are based on the time current characteristic of KQ+ type C and D circuit breakers. During start up of discharge lamps, surge current may be in the order of:- 25 x circuit start current for the first 3 milliseconds. 7 x circuit start current for the following 2 seconds. Circuits with long cable runs may reduce the actual inrush current due to voltage drop to a level which is lower than the maximum of 25 x start up current. This could effect the choice of circuit breaker rating used in circuits where the number of lamps exceed 3, a reduced surge current factor is therefore applied. Consideration must be given to the number of lamp fittings used in each circuit as this may entail the use of unusually large cable. Circuits with large numbers of lamp fittings may cause some inconvenience in the event of a fault, as due regard for safety in the working environment must be considered in the event of the lighting being extinguished. Delivering the goods Standard Plus - Delivered within 2 weeks. The assembly of standard boards: LoadCentre KQ+ type A SP&N boards. LoadCentre KQ+ TP&N boards. I Line MCCB panelboards. I Line Fuse Switch panelboards. All complete with incoming and outgoing devices and traffolyte labels (if required). Standard Plus - Delivered within 3 weeks. More sophisticated boards, namely those requiring both assembly and modification can be delivered within 3 weeks of an order being placed. Typically the products include: LoadCentre KQ+ distribution boards joined together. I Line Panelboards joined together. Combined I Line Panelboards and LoadCentre KQ+ distribution boards. I Line panelboards or LoadCentre KQ+ distribution boards incorporating control equipment. LoadCentre KQ+ TP&N boards fitted with incoming contactor devices. All Standard Plus products are manufactured and tested to BS EN60439-1 and in accordance with ISO 9001 procedures before leaving the Square D production facility. Standard Plus - Delivered within 4 weeks. More complex installations may require assembly of Square D products plus the incorporation of other equipment within one composite enclosure.
