CardaxFT Reader I/O Interface CardaxFT Reader I/O Interface provides I/O functionality and an interface for connecting Cardax readers to the CardaxFT system.
CardaxFT Reader I/O Interface provides an interface for connecting Cardax door readers, monitoring inputs, and controlling outputs to the CardaxFT system. is designed to provide an interface for up to 8 doors to the CardaxFT system. This device can also be used to monitor inputs and control outputs to meet other requirements. is configured as one of the 16 field devices on the CardaxFT Controller. Each CardaxFT Controller may be configured for a maximum of 8 doors, which matches the capacity of the CardaxFT Reader I/O Interface. If more than one CardaxFT Reader I/O Interface was connected to the CardaxFT Controller, then the total number of doors configured across all CardaxFT Reader I/O Interfaces must still not exceed 8. The remaining field devices on the CardaxFT Controller can include any other Local Bus Units, including CardaxFT Reader I/O Interfaces used for I/O functionality. Integrating Cardax Readers connects to the CardaxFT Controller over an RS485 data cable. Each of the door readers connects to the CardaxFT Reader I/O Interface using 4-core cable. only supports Cardax door readers. These include: Cardax Prox (125, Mifare and TIRIS Series) Cardax Prox Plus (125, Mifare and TIRIS Series) Cardax Prox LR (TIRIS Series) Cardax Swipe (Magstripe) Cardax Swipe Plus (Magstripe) Controlling Inputs and Outputs Making no high level decisions, the CardaxFT Reader I/O Interface monitors the state of the balanced inputs and switches the output relays as instructed by the CardaxFT Controller. Inputs The three balanced inputs per door (24 total) on the CardaxFT Reader I/O Interface are designed to be used as follows: monitoring Door Closed state monitoring Door Locked state Push button exit control The inputs can alternatively be used as normal input connections for other devices. The inputs on the CardaxFT Reader I/O Interface are 4-state balanced inputs. The four states monitored are: Open Closed Short Circuit (Tamper) Open Circuit (Tamper) Two 4K7 Ohm resistors must be connected to monitored inputs (as illustrated in the Input to sensor connection diagrams). The two resistors (R1 and R2) allow a tamper switch as well as a sensor output to be wired to each input. The inputs on the CardaxFT Reader I/O Interface are primarily to provide door status monitoring for up to 8 doors and for Request to Exit door control switches. Inputs not required for these functions may be used for: Access controlled doors Passive Infra-Red detectors (PIRs) Uncontrolled doors Equipment alarms Any other devices that provide a clean contact Outputs contains 8 relays, primarily for use as door control relays. Relays not required for this function may be used as: Alarm outputs, e.g. to activate sirens (as illustrated in the Relay Output to siren connection diagram) Logic activated outputs, e.g. to switch on air conditioning Time activated outputs, e.g. to switch on lighting CardaxFT Cabinet The CardaxFT Cabinet is a secure enclosure for the CardaxFT Reader I/O Interface. It provides cost-effective housing and includes many features designed to make installation and servicing easier. The design of the CardaxFT Cabinet enables several Cabinets to be installed side by side, neatly fitting together. Each Cabinet has a lockable door that can be installed, on site, to hinge from any side. When the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) is installed in the CardaxFT Cabinet, optical tamper protection is provided. The front optical tamper detector will sense when the Cabinet door is opened. The rear optical tamper detector will sense if the Cabinet is being removed from the wall. Manufactured from a strong polycarbonate/abs plastic alloy, the CardaxFT Cabinet has a UL94 flame rating of HB. must be mounted in a CardaxFT Cabinet following the directions in the installation instructions to comply with international emission standards such as C-Tick, FCC and CE.
