Gate VT 10 1.0 Description Gate VT10 can transmit messages via SMS, by ringing a phone number, by using acoustic signalization or by using GSM voice channel. The gate simulates a phone line to which a usual analog phone can be connected The telephone communicator can dial the monitoring station and transmit a 4/2 or CID message. The gate is equipped with 2 relay outputs, which can be activated by an SMS or by dialing its number. The gate can be enhanced with following expanders. Expander VT-01 4 inputs, 2 relay outputs Expander VT-02 6 relay outputs 2.0 Specifications RELAY 2 RELAY 1 INPUT 2 Feed: 10 15V= Working temperature 10 to 55 ºC Humidity: max 85% without condensation Consumption when idle: 80mA Peak consumption max. 10 sec. max. 1,5A 2 inputs on the printed circuit of the gate Up to 6 inputs (system with expander) 4 phone numbers for each input (24 with expander) Adjustable input delay 100ms 5s 2 relay outputs NO / NC 2A / 30V Relay control via SMS or ringing Automatic credit check up PC and SMS programming Data is saved in EEPROM independent from the SIM card INPUT 1 Status LED Connector for expander modules LED relay 2 LED relay 1 LED relay LED tlf.2 link LED relay 1 CConnector for PC or eexternal phone SIM page 4 antenne SIM card

Gate VT 10 3.0 Installation The gate is intended for indoor usage, where the temperature must not drop below minus 10 C. Under no circumstances can the gate be exposed to humidity. 3.1 Feed Only feed the gate from a source that is capable of covering 10s consumption of 1.5A. The best way is to connect the gate to an accumulator that is rechargeable. In security systems it is recommended to feed the gate directly from the auxiliary accumulator using a 2A fuse. Never supply the gate from the AUX of the alarm control panel. It will not manage to cover the feed needed and the functionality of the gate will not be reliable. Connect the 12V to the clamps as you can see in the picture. 3.2 Antenna The gate is equipped with the standard MMCX connector for GSM antennas. If you use a stick-on antenna it is necessary to install it in a sufficient distance from any metal objects. The minimum distance from the metal objects is 30cm the further the better. The antenna must not be attached to metal, e.g. the metal box. It also must not be closed in the metal box. In low signal locations it is recommended to use a high gain antenna, possibly a dipole directional antenna. 3.3 Telephone line, connection to PC The telephone line simulation contains also the simulation of the ringing and the dialing tone. Connect the phone as usual to the RJ11 connector. It is a 4-pin PC phone PC connector, the inner pins simulate the telephone line and the outer pins connect the gate to the PC. The telephone line has the same features as a usual analog telephone line. It is possible to connect a usual analog telephone or to connect the communicator of the alarm control panel to communicate with the monitoring station. Use the enclosed RJ11 COM converter to connect the gate to the PC. 3.4 Inputs If the input is idle and unlinked, it must be grounded during the activation. com input 3.5 Outputs The outputs are bipolar relays. 3.6 SIM The SIM card must not be PIN protected, the SMS centre must be set, the SMS confirmation off, and please delete all received or sent SMS messages. 3.7 LED STATUS LED: blinks 1:1 the gate is loading, blinks 1x - 4x + a longer pause signal power 1x no signal, 2x poor, 3x good, 4x full, blinks fast 3x per sec. ready for data transfers Tlf. link LED: ON using phone line, ON + light down dialing in progress, blinks 1:1 some call to VT10, 1-8 blinks number of blinks = number of activating input, 9 blinks calling from security panel, OFF line is not using page 5

Gate VT 10 4.0 Start-up Connect the antenna Insert the SIM card with no PIN protection and no saved SMS Connect the power cable The relays click and the LED blinks 1:1 Stand by for 30s until the LED signals the detection of signal strength LED blinks due to the signal strength 1x no signal 4x full signal Functional telephone line, the PC connection is possible 5.0 Telephone line simulation There is no need for any extra setup to simulate a telephone line. After you have completed the Start-up phase, is the line fully operational. It is possible to connect a usual analog telephone that facilitates the voice call transmission. BEWARE! It is only possible to use the gate to transmit voice, not fax and not any communication via modem. After the telephone is picked up, the notification tone will sound. If the module is not logged in the network or it is busy, the engaged tone will sound. If the gate is intended to transmit messages to the monitoring station from the alarm control panel, connect a cable to the RJ11 connector and connect the two middle wires to the RING and TIP clamps of the alarm control panel. Don t join any other wires; otherwise is the function of the gate not ensured. It is possible to connect an analog telephone to the clamps R-1 and T-1 of the alarm control panel to allow voice calls. It is not easy to say which transmission format is the best. The features of the GSM transmission are determined by the signal strength and the capacity of the transmitters in the area. These factors influence the quality of the transmission in the area and it is advisable to test all formats and then choose the most appropriate one for the given locality. To do these tests, it is vital to have and listen-in module. Therefore we recommend an affordable high-end listen-in module UCHO-1. The telephone number can t consist of more than 12 ciphers. If this limit is overstepped the dialing process is cancelled and the engaged tone sounds. It there is a 3s pause after the last dialed cipher, the gate begins to dial the number in to the GSM network. If it does not come the dialing of a number in 15s, the engaged tone sounds. page 6

Gate VT 10 6.0 Audio signal setup It is possible to boost the telephone line clearness for formats intended for the monitoring station by adjusting the volume of the speaker and the sensitivity of the microphone used in the gate. It is necessary to ensure the needed signal strength without any distortion or echo. Theses factors substantially influence the quality of the transmission to the monitoring station. 6.1 Audio setup from the PC Description of the program can be found on the following page. Audio signal change can be exercised inside the program. You can se the default settings in the picture. 0 the weakest signal 9 maximum signal 6.2 Audio setup via telephone We can execute the audio setup of the speaker or the microphone via an external phone with DTMF option. The gate VT10 is listed under the code VT1_ By pressing the PROGRAM button the communication between VT10 and the PC is established. The LED has to blink fast, approx. 3x per second. It is possible to load or save data now. The module can t be switched into the programming mode immediately after connection to power, when sending/receiving SMS, when ringing or dialing. 8.2 Data transfer Data will be transmitted from the program to the gate VT10. The progress of the transmission is displayed in the bottom bar. After the data is written the automatic data control is initiated. If the examined data is identical to the data in the program, the transfer is interpreted as correct. If there is a difference between the examined data and the data in the program, the transfer is regarded as faulty. Date will be transmitted from the gate VT10 into the program. If there is no response from the gate, the transfer is interpreted as faulty. During the data transfer is the LED off. 8.3 Communication termination After you have completed your settings, you can terminate the communication by pressing the PROGRAM button once again. After you exit the programming mode, the gate may commence a restart. The indication is the blinking of the LED. In this case stand by for approx. 30s. If the communication is established and it doesn t come to a data transfer in the interval of 2 minutes the communication is terminated automatically. 8.4 Passwords for SMS The Password must consist of 4 ciphers and the first one must not be zero. Types 4 and 9 don t have this type of confirmation. page 11

Gate VT 10 11.0 Input and output labels In this part of the program you can label the inputs and the outputs. If the condition of and input/output is inquired, a message about the particular input/output will be transmitted. INPUT OUTPUT page 12

Gate VT 10 12.0 System Setup Attention! INPUT 7, INPUT 8 and INPUT 9 are only virtual inputs and they serve to send messages about the system. These inputs are activated by system events and they are not routed to the terminal plate. 12.1 Test message - INPUT 7 The test SMS is transmitted in a period of 1 30 days. If you input 0 or a value higher than 30 the message will not be sent. The test SMS is transmitted from the INPUT 7. It can be sent to 4 different telephone numbers. It is only possible to use Type of call 1 sending SMS. It is not possible to transmit a voice call through this input. The call is executed in the time interval allotted. The timer is reset in these cases: end of programming via PC, after inputting TEST into the program via SMS, after attaching the power cable and logging in the GSM network. 12.2 Credit operations INPUT 8 In order to have access to credit operations it is necessary to input the appropriate number for credit information (depending on the provider) in the 4 th box on the Input 8. Type of call 1 must be selected. In order to check the credit we send an SMS in format: USER PASSWORD and letter K. The password is by default set to 1234. In this case the SMS looks like: 1234 K. This message will be received and the module learns the information about credit and sends the sum back. Automatic credit check + SMS forwarding The credit is checked every 24 hours. If the credit is too low, a warning is sent to the 3 rd number on Input 8. The type of call must be set to 1 or 2. Further description can be found in the following chapter. In view of various forms of services of GSM providers, the manufacturer is not responsible for proper operation of this process. 12.3 Forwarding of SMS IPNUT 8 tel. n 3 For the 3 rd telephone number we can chose following option for INPUT 8: Type of call 1 credit info Type of call 2 - sends SMS about credit and all SMS messages except for the operation messages. Type of call 3 only send SMS messages except for the operation messages. Only 90 characters are sent. The rest is deleted. page 13

Gate VT 10 13.0 User controls The SMS messages are received by the TELIT module and the processor loads from the module every 30s. Therefore it is necessary to take into account that the longest delay between the transmission of the SMS and the reaction of the gate can be 30s. Every user SMS must start with a user password. It consists of 4 numbers and the first must not be 0. It is set to 1234 by default. The syntax for a user SMS is: USER PASSWORD COMMAND COMMAND COMMAND etc.. The maximum length of the message is 90 characters. Only capital letters are accepted. It is possible to write also several inputs / outputs. It is possible to sequence the commands. 13.1 RELAY output control and condition monitoring command value description V 0 8 Z 0 8 P 0 8 N 0 8 T K S N/A N/A N/A Output deactivation 1 8 0 it goes for all outputs Output activation 1 8 0 it goes for all outputs Pulse on the output 1 8 0 it goes for all outputs Pulse length is determined in the box PULSE. Gate VT 10 14.0 Expansion modules It is possible to connect only one expansion module to the gate VT10. After the module is connected it is necessary to input a relevant value in the box EXPANDER. There are two ways how to use the module due to the expander setup. 0 no Expander 1 Expander 1 with module VT-01 (4 inputs, 2 relay outputs) 2 Expander 2 with module VT-02 (6 relay outputs) page 15

Gate VT 10 14.1 VT-01 Description We add 4 inputs and 2 relay outputs to the gate by connecting this module. The inputs are activated by connecting the inputs to the ground potential GND. It is recommended to use wires of maximum length of 1m (a shielded cable is appropriate). The function of the inputs and outputs is given by the set Expander value. Gate VT 10 15.0 SMS programming We advise to program the gate using the PC. The SMS programming is appropriate for making smaller adjustments or to check current condition. The programming SMS starts with the installation password set by default to 4567. If you send an inquiry the gate sends back an SMS containing the current settings of the gate. Then you can edit the SMS and send it back to the gate. The gate adopts the changes adjusts the settings according to the SMS. Then the gate sends back a confirming SMS that contains the new settings. The advantage of this method is a minimal editing effort and maximal syntax control. The inquiry on the settings is in the form installation password Cx (4567 Cx) where x is the section number. The programming is divided into several sections.
