To order, email sales@ascendrms.com. Not all versions of the VeriFone 1000SE driver are compatible with Ascend. Download the driver from www.ascendrms.com. If your computer is running a 64-bit operating system, the appropriate driver must be installed before plugging in the PIN pad. Debit card payments require the use of integrated processing from Chase Paymentech ; for details see Introduction: Integrated Credit Card Processing (in Ascend's Online Help). Ascend's integration with VeriFone PIN pads allows you to offer your customers the option to pay for their purchases by debit card. Process Overview 1. Determine computer operating system type: Windows 7 (on the next page) 32-Bit Operating System: 1. Connect to Workstation (on page 6) 2. Install driver software: Windows 7 (on page 4) 3. PIN Pad: Determine Operating System Type (Windows 7) If your computer is running a 64-bit operating system, the appropriate driver must be installed before plugging in the PIN pad. Installation of the VeriFone PIN pad is operating system specific. Determine whether the computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. Determine System Type 1. Click the Windows Start button. From the displayed menu, right-click Computer. 2. From the displayed menu, select Properties. The System dialog box is displayed. 3. The System > System typesection displays the operating system type. 32-bit Operating System: The computer is running a 32-bit operating system. 64-bit Operating System: The computer is running a 64-bit operating system. For a 32-bit operating system, continue on to PIN Pad: Connect to Workstation (on page 6). For a 64-bit operating system, continue on to PIN Pad: Install Driver on Windows 7 (64-Bit) (on page 5). - 2 / 8 -

PIN Pad: Connect To Workstation If your computer is running a 64-bit operating system, the appropriate driver must be installed before plugging in the PIN pad. Before the PIN pad can be configured, the hardware must be properly installed. Connect Hardware 1. Connect the USB cable to the back of the PIN pad. 2. Plug the other end of the USB cable into the back of the computer. 1 If your computer is running a 32-bit operating system, continue on to: PIN Pad: Install Driver on Windows 7 (32-Bit) (on the next page) If your computer is running a 64-bit operating system, continue on to: PIN Pad: Locate Port Assignment on Windows 7 (on page 7) 1 Other USB ports (e.g. on the computer monitor, the front of the computer, a USB hub) may not receive sufficient power for the device. - 3 / 8 -

PIN Pad: Install Driver On Windows 7 (32-Bit) Not all versions of the VeriFone 1000SE driver are compatible with Ascend. Download the driver from www.ascendrms.com. Before the PIN pad can be used in Ascend, the driver software must be installed and configured. Install Driver Software 1. Download the 32-bit USB Driver for VeriFone PIN Pads (available on www.ascendrms.com). Save the file to your Windows Desktop. 2. Click the Windows Start button. From the displayed menu, right-click Computer. 3. From the displayed menu, select [Properties]. The System dialog box is displayed. 4. Click [Device Manager]. 5. Expand Other Devices. 6. Right-click PINpad 1000SE. 1 7. From the displayed menu, select Update Driver Software. 8. How do you want to search: Select [Browse my computer for driver software]. 9. Browse for driver software: Select [Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer]. 10. Select your device type: a. Select [Ports (COM & LPT)]. b. Click [Next]. 11. Select device driver: Click [Have Disk]. 12. Install from disk: Click [Browse]. 13. Locate file: a. Click [Desktop]. b. Select verifone_pp1000se usb-uart.inf. c. Click [Open]. The Install from Disk dialog box is redisplayed. 14. Install from disk: Click [OK]. 15. Select device driver: a. Select PP1000se-PCI PIN Pad. b. Click [Next]. 16. When the Windows Security prompt displays, click [Install this driver software anyway]. 17. Successfully updated software: Click [Close]. Continue on to PIN Pad: Locate Port Assignment on Windows 7 (on page 7). 1 The device name may display as Qx_PP1000 USB UART Device. - 4 / 8 -

PIN Pad: Install Driver On Windows 7 (64-Bit) Not all versions of the VeriFone 1000SE driver are compatible with Ascend. Download the driver from www.ascendrms.com. Before the PIN pad can be used in Ascend, the driver software must be installed and configured. Install Driver Software 1. Download the 64-bit USB Driver for VeriFone PIN Pads (available on www.ascendrms.com). Save the file to your Windows Desktop. 2. From the Windows Desktop, double-click VeriFone_1000SE_Driver.exe. 1 The VeriFone Device Installer Setup Wizard is displayed. 3. License Agreement: a. Select the I accept the agreement option. b. Click [Next]. The Extracting Files dialog box displays the status of the installation. 4. When the driver installation is complete, the VeriFone Device Installer Setup Wizard automatically exits. 5. Restart the computer. Continue on to PIN Pad: Connect to Workstation (on the next page). 1 If the Open File Security Warning prompt is displayed: Click [Run]. - 5 / 8 -

PIN Pad: Locate Port Assignment On Windows 7 In order for Ascend to communicate with the PIN pad, you must determine the port number to which it is assigned. Determine Port Number 1. Click the Windows Start button. From the displayed menu, right-click Computer. 2. From the displayed menu, select [Properties]. The System dialog box is displayed. 3. Click [Device Manager]. 4. Expand Ports (COM & LPT). 5. Locate Qx_PP1000 USB UART Device. 6. Make note of the port listed after the device name, e.g. COM9. Continue on to PIN Pad: Set Ascend Options (on the next page). - 7 / 8 -

PIN Pad: Set Ascend Options After the PIN pad is installed, Ascend's options must be configured. 1. From the Ascend Desktop, double-click [Options]. The Settings and Options dialog box is displayed. 2. Select the Payment Processing topic. 3. Click [Pinpad Setup]. 4. In the Port field, enter the number for the port to which the PIN pad is assigned, e.g. 9. 5. Click [Save]. The Settings and Options dialog box is redisplayed. 6. Click [OK]. - 8 / 8 -
