Introduction Informit Admin is the administrative interface for Informit. It allows you to set preferences, review your subscriptions and access usage statistics. You can also access specific database functions if you hold subscriptions to the relevant databases. For example, MARC record generation from Informit Collections and Request TV administration. This guide outlines the various functions and services available via Informit Admin. Login to Informit Admin Access to Informit Admin will initially be given to only one person within your organisation. They will be given a PIN Code which is in addition to the username and password. This PIN Code is required to login to Informit Admin. To access Admin please go to the following URL, and enter your Username, Password and Pin code. http://admin.informit.com.au/ The Informit Log in screen Informit Admin function screen Page 3 of 18

Custom Databases Custom Collections When the user logs out of Informit this is the page they will see next. If you would like them to exit onto your website place your URL here. The name of your institute/company to be displayed in the Informit toolbar. Use the drop down box to select the default view for the Databases selection screen: - Compilation view = listed databases by format (Index, PlusText, Media, Collections) - Subject view = listed databases by subject category - Name view = listed databases alphabetically - Custom view = Please refer to custom view section below Yes / No. This will clear the search box after the search Select default sort option: Sort by: - Relevance - Database - Publication date (newest) - Journal/Source Title Choose how many records are displayed. Note: you can override this during the session. Displays the number of terms displayed when you use the Indexes function. Select default fields to show. Note: you can override this during the session. Select default field labels to show. Select Yes to highlight text in record that matches search query. Databases to be included under the Custom database. See below for Custom Databases setup guide. Specifies what Informit Collections to show on the database screen. Informit Media Show TVNews Informit Media options Enables the TVNews database link to appear on the Database screen. Informit will automatically log you in, if your computer's IP address is part of the range provided. Provide a referring URL to RMIT Publishing to enter into Informit Admin. Link to: http://search.informit.com.au from that referring URL. Informit will automatically log you in. (You must provide the authentication for users to access the URL in question. This URL should not be available to the public on the Internet.) The name to be displayed Barcode authentication allows remote users of small libraries to access Informit by using their library card barcode or member number details. Provide RMIT Publishing with your organisation s unique barcode ranges, along with a referring URL. You can link to any Informit page from your webpage as long as it ends with barcode=true;org=xxxxx * These fields can only be altered by RMIT Publishing. Page 7 of 18

Setup Guide Web Holdings If your library catalogue is web enabled (that is, has a web based search interface), your organisation can configure Informit to show a Check Local Holdings button next to each record displayed (only if the record has ISSN or ISBN). This link will open a separate window and will search your library catalogue. NOTE: If you are unsure about what these links should be, contact your own technical support facility and/or contact Informit Customer Support for guidance. 1. Log into Informit Admin http://admin.informit.com.au 2. Scroll to Web Holdings Details 3. Set the Web Holdings Active field to YES. 4. If required, modify the link text in the Web Holdings Link Text field. o This will only be displayed if the article has an ISSN or ISBN 5. Enter the URL of your web catalogue in the Web Holdings Base URL field. o o For more information, please refer to your library cataloguing system. For example: http://xxxx.xxxx.xxx.xx/cgi-bin/pwebrecon.cgi?db=local&bool1=as+a+phrase 6. Enter the additional command for an ISSN search in the Web Holdings ISSN field (if required). o The fields you place in Admin for Web Holdings ISSN / ISBN. Eg.?ISSN= &FLD1=ISSN+%28ISSN%29&CNT=10&SAB1= 7. Enter the additional command for an ISBN search in the Web Holdings ISBN field (if required). 8. Click the Save Changes button. Setting up OpenURL links OpenURL enables a user to search across their library s database subscriptions, to see if they have access to the full text of a specific article. Informit databases can be sources for OpenURL searchers. To enable the OpenURL link: 1. Login Informit Admin http://admin.informit.com.au 2. Scroll to OpenURL Details 3. Set OpenURL Active to Yes. 4. OpenURL base URL: Insert the URL into this area o For example: http://sfxprod.aarlin.edu.au:9003/youruni/sfx.gif 5. OpenURL Image: Insert the URL where the image is kept. 6. OpenURL Window Width & OpenURL Window Height: o The default is 400 x 400 if you wish to change it, place the measurements here 7. OpenURL Block if InformitFT? o If Informit has a Full Text article and you don t want the button to be displayed, set this to Yes. Note: An OpenURL link will only display the button if the record has a ISSN or ISBN Search results with OpenURL links Page 9 of 18

Setting a Custom Database view You may select specific databases to be displayed using the Custom Databases option. Once databases are selected from Informit Admin, they can be displayed in the Database selection screen by clicking the Custom Database tab. To enable this database view to be the default, select User Preferences from the Informit Admin home screen. Then scroll to Informit Options > Custom Databases and click on Edit Custom Databases. Setting an Informit Collections view Informit Collections metadata is accessible to all users, regardless of subscription status. These databases appear by default in the Database selection screen. Even without a subscription to full text titles within these databases, records from these databases may be useful for OpenURL, or web holdings linking. To activate scroll to Informit Options > Custom Collections and click on Edit Custom Collections. You may select to display specific databases by clicking on the Custom Collections button and then selecting the databases to display. Subscription Details Use this section to list all your active database subscriptions. Additionally you may view your subscription to titles within the Informit Collections. These are grouped under the specific Collection and publication type. MARC Record downloads You may download MARC records of publications available via the Informit Collections databases. Resource Type allows you to limit output based on Resource (publication) type. For example Book only. Use Restrict by Subscription to output MARC records to only subscribed-to publication within the Collections database The Restrict by Collection menu lists all the databases that have MARC records are available. Restrict by Revision Date will limit MARC records whose data has been modified since the specified date. Restrict by Completion Date will limit output to MARC record created from the specified date. Usage Statistics This section of Informit Admin allows you to run user access statistics reports in a variety of formats, including COUNTER (DB1,D2B,DB3 and JR1), To generate a report: To generate a new report click on: '>ADD NEW REPORT' Click on 'RUN NOW' to run an existing report Click on 'Edit' to edit an existing report Reports generated to CSV format are automatically saved and accessible from the Previously Run Report section. Statistics Admin screen Statistics report formats Various report formats are available. The Informit Stats Report can be customised to your requirements. Use the options described below to contrast your report. You may then save the format for future use. (You will need to select Edit to modify the reporting period). Other formats include: Fulltext Journal article downloads - COUNTER JR1 Fulltext Non-Journal article downloads Total Searchers and Sessions - Counter DB1 Turnaways by Month and database - Counter DB2 Total Searchers and Session by Month and Service Counter DB3 TVNews The number of articles downloaded in the COUNTER JR1 format (Publication/Publisher details) Similar format to above, but for non-journal items The number of sessions and searches across all database subscriptions in the Counter DB1 format. Includes activity generated by federated search engines and automated search agents. A monthly summary of rejected sessions due to exceeding the simultaneous user limit allowed by the Informit license. In the Counter DB2 format A monthly summary of all sessions and searchers. Includes activity generated by federated search engines and automated search agents. Details of downloads per specified period via the TVNews database. You can save and retrieve this document when required. Report description gives you the option of describing the report. eg. Statistics for July. Optional. Not editable The report format provides two options when displaying final results. You may choose either option On screen, or Comma Delimited (CSV) with headings. Selecting the CSV option, the report is able to be imported into an Excel spreadsheet. Select using the drop down box the date which you require your report to start from. Select using the drop down box the date which you require your report to end. Reports can only be generated for a 6 month period at any one time. Select from the drop down box whether you wish to display the report by summary or monthly. The summary will display the total amount of usage per database and subscription. The monthly report will display details per subscribed database by each month. Not editable Page 15 of 18

Report on Subscription Report on Database Logins Rejects Searches If you wish to generate a report for all databases, leave this field blank. If you require a report for a specific subscription, select your option from the drop down box. Note that Subscriptions may refer to database compilations as well as specific databases. The database field provides an option if you wish to narrow your report to one specific database. You must enter the acronym used for the database e.g. APAFT (Australian Public Affairs Full Text). Refer to the Informit website if unsure of the acronym. http://www.informit.com.au/dbcodes.asp?int=is By leaving this field blank a report on all databases will be generated. Please note: Compilation names cannot be entered in this field. This field allows you to display the number of times a client has logged into the Informit interface. Option: Yes/No Also known as turnaways. Displays the number of times users have not been able to access a particular database due to maximum number of allocated licences being exceeded. Option: Yes/No This field allows you to display the number of searches users have conducted per database. Option: Yes/No Full Text Documents Users Organisation Name Creation Date The Full Text document field allows you to display the amount of times a client has accessed a full text article. This is only applicable if you subscribe to any of the Informit Plus Text databases. Option: Yes/No Permanent and external web links are excluded from stats. Not editable Not editable This automatically defaults to the date the report was created. Once you have entered and selected appropriate fields, select add record and then Run Report Now to generate your results.
