Rhino Toolbar Features DIVA Day 2015 London / New Features in DIVA 23 October, 2015 2 / 9
As always, lots of bug fixes and minor improvements gen_reindl interface for the input of global horizontal irradiation built in for making point-in-time simulations based on measured data Radiance tools updated to version 5.0 via the latest NREL release. Thermal and annual glare simulation bug requiring starting in Rhino in administrator mode is fixed. All IES electric lighting files now work in DIVA. Labeled grid text is less-likely to be flipped or inverted. Issues with whitespace in Radiance material names are avoided. Default sensor spacing updated as per IES-LM-83. Interface element added for rendering illuminance rather than luminance visualizations. LEED 9am / 3pm illuminance calculation bug fixed. DIVA Day 2015 London / New Features in DIVA 23 October, 2015 3 / 9
Luminance / illuminance hybrid images Combined luminance visualizations with illuminance contour lines are a great way to assess lighting quality or aesthetics and measured lighting levels simultaneously. A checkbox in DIVA now allows this process to be fully automated. A luminance rendering and an illuminance rendering are created and automatically composited for the user. 3D model provided by Ong Li Yen and Timothy Lum Jing Liang. Inclusion of the Utah sky model by Mark Stock Utah colored (clear) sky model developed by Mark J. Stock in 2009 and originally presented at the Radiance workshop, http://www.radiance-online.org/community/ workshops/2009-boston-ma/presentations/radiance_ harvard_09_stock.pdf Mark released the code as GPL2, and it is now available for point-in-time simulations in DIVA. gensky CIE clear sky Utah sky 6pm 21 Dec 9am 21 Dec 12pm 21 Dec DIVA Day 2015 London / New Features in DIVA 23 October, 2015 5 / 9

LM-83 / sda / LEEDv4 calculation improvements Finally, you can design your own custom shading devices at the building level using the IES LM-83 spatial daylight autonomy metric. Nifty user interface improvement allows the automatic generation of the control groups based on the node generating surfaces used. DIVA Day 2015 London / New Features in DIVA 23 October, 2015 7 / 9
Radiance photon mapping Photon mapping forward raytrace / caustics module in Radiance, developed by Roland Schregle starting in 1998 is finally in Radiance for Windows. DIVA added an interface for this purpose. Currently working only for visualizations, but node-based simulations will have photon mapping added soon. David Geisler-Moroder gave a nice introduction at the last Radiance workshop in Philadelphia, http://www.radianceonline.org/community/workshops/2015-philadelphia/ presentations/day1/geisler-moroder_photonmapapplications. pdf Example model and design by Timothy Lum Jing Liang, Fong Mingli Lina, and Bianca Su Fen Gill.
