The content of this operation manual is written to meet the user s requirements. However, if there is any mistake, error, omission in the contents, please feel free to contact us. Please note that we do not take any responsibility for the result of using the device despite the above mentioned. Please make a backup copy for the important data, data from the program and downloaded data from Lifecorder PLUS in order to prevent data loss due to any expected trouble. Please do not install the software in the computer that is used at the reception counter, used for accounting, or used for keeping electronic cartel purposes. System Requirements Computer PC/AT compatible with USB port installed OS CPU Main memory Hard disk capacity Disk Installation Interface Windows 2000/XP CPU installed with Windows 2000/XP OS Memory recommendation for running Windows 2000/XP More than 40MB CD-ROM drive USB plug connector USB Revision1.1 The software cannot run under Windows 3.1/95/98/98SE/Me/NT This applied to any computer that is pre-installed with Windows 2000/XP. There is no guarantee that software can run on a computer using upgraded OS (Windows 3.1/95/98/98SE/Me/NTetc) 3

Install the Software Before Installation Please refer to the operating condition to check the system requirement before the installation. Please close all applications before the installation. Please do not connect the USB cable to the computer at this moment Please note: do not connect the USB cable to the computer at this time. Install PAAS Personal 1) Switch ON the computer. 2) Please insert the PAAS Personal CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. The Installation wizard will appear on the screen after a short while. Double click or single click [setup exe] when you download programs from the website. Note: In case the installation wizard does not appear on the screen automatically, please click on the CD-ROM drive under [My computer]. Please double click on [setup.exe] to activate the installation wizard. 3) The initial installation screen will appear. 4

4) Please click on the [Next] button. 5) Please read the License Agreement carefully and click on the [yes] button if you agree, or click on [No] button if you disagree. If you disagree, the installation will be cancelled. 6) Please specify the destination folder where you want to install the program and click on the [Next] button. Please click on the [Browse] button if you want to select a different destination folder. 5

7) The following Install Shield Wizard Complete window will appear. Click on the [Finish] button to complete the installation. 8) A shortcut PAAS personal icon will be added to your desktop. The installation of PAAS Personal is completed. It will proceed to install the driver software. If you have been using the PAAS Personal, the installation will end here. Please remove the CD-ROM from the computer and keep it carefully. Install the Driver 1) Please connect the smaller connector of the USB cable to the main unit of the Lifecorder PLUS, and connect the bigger connector to the USB port of the computer. 6

2) The Searching Driver Window will appear on the screen. The Searching Driver Window will not appear if the driver has already been installed. 3) Please select [Yes, now and every time connect a device] and click on the [Next] button. 4) Please select [Install the software automatically (recommended)] and click on the [next] button to proceed. 5) The following window will appear when installing the driver. 7

6) The following window will appear when the installation is completed. Please click on the [Finish] button to end the installation. Uninstall the software Uninstall PAAS personal 1) Please insert the CD ROM of PAAS Personal into the CD ROM drive. The window to uninstall the file will appear on the screen automatically. Click on the [OK] button to proceed. 2) The following window will appear when uninstalling the software. 8

3) The following window will appear when the un-installation has completed. Please click on the [Finish] button to end this function. Quick operation manual To start PAAS personal Double click the PAAS personal icon on the desktop of your computer. Note: If the PAAS personal icon does not appear on the desktop of your computer, please start PAAS personal by clicking on [Start] [All Programs (p)] [Kenz] [PAAS Personal] 9

From data download to printout 1) Please connect the USB cable to the Lifecorder PLUS and the computer. The data will be downloaded automatically once the Lifecorder PLUS is connected to the computer. 2) A [New CPU] window will appear if the Lifecorder PLUS is connected to the computer for the first time. The software recognizes the user based on the CPU number of the Lifecorder PLUS. *Please click on [Select From User List] if you want to download the data of a user in the User List. *Please click on [User Registration] if you want to download data as a new user. *Please click on [Cancel] if you want to cancel downloading data. 10

3) The following window will appear when clicking [User Registration] in the previous window. Please enter the user information and click on the [Registration] button to register. Please note: First Name and Last Name are required. 4) If [select From User List] is selected, the following window will appear. Please double click on the icon of the user to download the data. 11

5) Following window will appear when downloading the data. 6) Once the download is successful, the window of [User List] will appear. The graph of the user s data (Evaluation, Steps, Activity Cal, Total Cal, Activity Time, and Distance) will be displayed. User List 12

Daily Step Counts 7) To print out the graph, please click on the [Print] icon or select [Print] on the pull-down menu [Job]. After setting the printer and paper size, click on the [OK] button. 13

Operation Manual in Detail Menu Bar [Edit] - [New user] is to register a new user. - [Edit user] is to edit the information of a registered user. - [Delete user] is to delete the information of a registered user. [Display] - [Alphabet (Ascending)] is to display the user icon in the user list according to the name in ascending order. - [Alphabet (Descending)] is to display the user icon in the user list according to the name in descending order. - [User Reg. (Ascending)] is to display the user icon in the user list according to the registration in descending order. - [User Reg. (Descending)] is to display the user icon in the user list according to the registration in descending order. 14

[Job] - [Download] is to transmit the saved data from the Lifecorder PLUS to the computer manually. - [Print] is to print out the graph. [Go To] - [User List] is to go back to User List. - [Back] is to go back to the previous window. [Help] - [Help] is for user to search for help topics on PAAS Personal. - [Version] displays the version number of PAAS Personal. [End] - [End] is to end the program of PAAS Personal. Job Icon [User List] Please double click on the User Icon on the [User list] window and then [User List] will appear as shown below. 15

[Edit User Information]: To edit the selected user information manually. [Download]: To download the data from the Lifecorder PLUS to the computer [Print]: To print the graph displayed. 16

User List The following window will appear once you double click icon on the desktop. (1) Navigation Window To display the [Edit], [Display], [Job], [Go To], [Option], [Help], [End] (2) JOB Icon To display [Back], [User Registration], [Edit User], [Download], [Print] (3) User Icon Frame To display the registered user by using a user icon. The First Name/Middle Name/Last Name is displayed. The user icon is displayed on the upper left side according to the selected display order of the pull-down menu [Display]. 17

User Registration 1) Please go to the [User List] window as shown below. 2) By clicking on the icon or [New User] on the pull-down menu [Edit], the following window will appear. After entering the user information, click on the [Registration] button to register a new user and then please go back to the [Use List] window. The user name will appear under the User Icon. Please note: First name and Last name must be entered. 18

Edit User 1) Please go to the [User List] window as shown below and select the user icon. The selected user icon is displayed in dark color. 2) By clicking on the icon or [Edit user] on the pull-down menu [Edit], the below window will appear. Please click on the [Registration] button after editing the user information. Please note: First name and last name must be entered 19

Delete User 1) Please go to the [User List] window as shown below and select the user icon. The selected user icon is displayed in dark color. 2) Please click on the [Delete user] button on the pull-down menu [Edit]. 20

3) By click on the [Delete User] button on the pull-down menu [Edit], the [User Delete] window will appear. By clicking on the [Delete] button, the selected user will be deleted. Please note: Once a user has been deleted, all the data of that particular user is deleted. Download Data from Lifecorder PLUS -User List -Download data Once Lifecorder PLUS is connected to the computer, the data will be downloaded automatically. It will recognize the user based on the CPU number of the Lifecorder PLUS. 21

For a new Lifecorder for the PAAS Personal -when a new Lifecorder is connected to the PAAS Personal -When the data of last user has been deleted, the following window will appear. In case you want to download the data from the same Lifecorder again without disconnecting the USB cable, please click on [Download] icon or select [Download] on the pull-down menu [Job]. Data will be downloaded from the Lifecorder PLUS. *To download the data of the registered user, please select the [User Registration] button. *To register as a new user, please select the [User Registration] button. *Please click on the [Cancel] button if you want to cancel downloading data. The following window will appear when -the Lifecorder is reset and the last user s data is still remain in the database. -the Lifecorder has been reset since the last download. *If you download the data to the last user, please select the [Download] button. *If you download the data as a different user, select the [Cancel] button and go back to the [User List] window, and then click on the again. [Download] icon to download the data 22

-Report View Download Once the Lifecorder PLUS is connected to the computer, the data of the last user will be downloaded automatically. However if you download a data as a different user, the follow window will appear that shows the information of the user. *To download the data to the user selected from the [User List], please select the [Download] button to proceed. *Please click on the [Cancel] button if you want to cancel downloading the data. 23

Please note: Please make sure to reset the Lifecorder before it is used by the next user. Data will be saved as previous user in the database of the PAAS Personal in case [Download] icon was clicked at display of previous user s graph. In case you want to download the data from the same Lifecorder again By clicking on the the data will be downloaded. [Download] icon or [Download] on the pull-down menu [Job], For a new Lifecorder for the PAAS Personal -When a new Lifecorder is connected to the PAAS Personal. -When the data of last user has been deleted, the following window will appear. *To download the data to the user selected from the [User List], please select the [Download] button to proceed. * Please click on the [Cancel] button if you want to cancel downloading the data. Graph Display Based on the data downloaded from the Lifecorder PLUS, seven types of graphs are displayed, and Weight Loss Plan is also performed. By clicking on the Job menu or [Print] Icon, the graphs except Weight Loss Plan can be printed out. Once the download is successful, [User List] window will appear. The graph of the user s data (Evaluation, Steps, Activity Cal, Total Cal, Activity time, Distance) can be displayed by clicking User Icon. 24

User List Daily Step Count To display the measured data, click on the icon [Week], [Month] or [Six Month]. By click on the displayed. By clicking on the [Daily Physical Activity] button, physical activity for 24 hours is button, previous period data is displayed. By clicking on the button, next period data is displayed. Evaluation (Measured data log book and target achievement) Steps, Activity Cal, Total Cal Expenditure, distance, weight, evaluation, Activity Time in minutes are displayed. Performance Evaluation: -When both step counts and Activity minutes meet the target value, displayed. is -When either step counts or Activity minutes meet target value, is displayed. -When both step count and Activity minutes do not meet the target value, no message is displayed. Display Data Format: -When [week] is selected, the data of each day is displayed. -When [Month] is selected, average value of a month is displayed. -When [Six Month] is selected, average of six month is displayed. However, for the data of first day, last day and the data with the step counts are less than 50 steps, the data will not be included. Activity Level is displayed as a distribution of physical activity intensity levels in a pie chart. 26

Please note: When there is no data from the Lifecorder PLUS, [No Data] is displayed. Steps Step counts in a selected period are displayed as a bar graph. Target value is displayed as a dash line. The color of the graph is changed when step counts meet the target value. Average value is displayed as a dotted line. 27

Display Data Format: -When [week] is selected, the data of each day is displayed. -When [Month] is selected, average value of a month is displayed. -When [Six Month] is selected, average of six month is displayed. However, for the data of first day, last day and the data with the step counts are less than 50 steps, the data will not be included. Activity Cal (Activity Energy Expenditure) Activity Cal in a selected period is displayed as a bar graph. The color of the graph is changed when the Activity Cal meet the target value. -When [week] is selected, the data of each day is displayed. -When [Month] is selected, average value of a month will be displayed. -When [Six Month] is selected, average of six month is displayed. However, for the data of first day, last day and the data with the step counts are less than 50 steps, the data will not be included. 28

Total Cal (Daily Energy Expenditure) Total Cal in a selected period are displayed as a bar graph. The color of the graph is changed when the Total Cal meet the target value. -When [week] is selected, the data of each day is displayed. -When [Month] is selected, average value of a month is displayed. -When [Six Month] is selected, average of six month is displayed. However, for the data of first day, last day and the data with the step counts are less than 50 steps, the data will not be included. 29

Activity Time Activity Time in a selected period is displayed as a bar graph. The color of the graph is changed when the Activity Time meets the target value. -When [week] is selected, the data of each day is displayed. -When [Month] is selected, average value of a month is displayed. -When [Six Month] is selected, average of six month is displayed. However, for the data of first day, last day and the data with the step counts are less than 50 steps, the data will not be included for the calculation of the average value. Activity Time: Many health professionals, including the US Surgeon general and World Health Organization, recommend a minimum of 30 minutes per day of moderate physical activity (60 minutes per day for children). The Lifecorder function keeps track of your total physical activity time at moderate or greater level (METs) of intensity for every 24-hour period. 30

Distance Walking distance in a selected time is displayed as a bar graph. The distance in a setup period will be displayed as a bar graph. -When [week] is selected, the data of each day is displayed. -When [Month] is selected, average value of a month is displayed. -When [Six Month] is selected, average of six month will be displayed. However, the data of first day, last day and the data with the step counts are less than 50 steps, the data will not be included for the calculation of the average value. 31

Daily Physical Activity Please select button to display the graph. The intensity of physical activity for 24 hours is displayed as a line chart. The day data of step counts, Activity Cal, Total Cal and Activity Time are displayed. Daily Physical Activity Graph The spike of the Daily Physical Activity graph displays the intensity level *METs of your physical activity in 2-minute intervals over 24 hours period. (*METs: Metabolic Equivalents) Event The triangle mark indicates the time when the event key of the Lifecorder PLUS was pressed. -The message [Excluding for Analysis] will appear on the graph of a day when daily step counts are less than 50 steps or no data from the Lifecorder PLUS. This data will not be included for the calculation of the average value for analysis report. 32

Weight Loss Plan By selecting the [Weight Loss Plan] from the window [User menu], or clicking on the icon, [Weight Loss Plan] will appear. Weight loss planning (Diet Simulator) can be performed by setting weight change, period, reducing intake Calories and increasing daily exercise calories. -Your Body Mass Index It displays the BMI (Body Mass Index) and the standard body weight based on the latest height and weight data downloaded from the Lifecorder PLUS. Setting Conditions Please select the initial date for the weight loss planning from a pull-down calendar, the period (combo box), initial weight, the target weight and the weight loss. If daily core food, drink consumption or Calories can be reduced as a part of weight loss plan, please select items and quantity per daily base. However when it comes to reducing the food intake, you cannot set the calorie rate beyond necessary calorie to healthy weight loss. 33

Target Activity The average activity calorie for the last 10 days (maximum), additional daily activity to achieve target will be displayed by clicking the button. In addition, the values are converted to the duration of exercise based on the representative exercise of the METS method, and the results are displayed here. By clicking on the button, it will display the graph of body weight changes based on the setting of the Weight Loss Plan. Progress Graph Graph showing the activity energy expenditure of week and body weight changes data downloaded from Lifecorder PLUS. 34

The information of initial date and current date: It displays the body weight and BMI of the initial date and current date. However the current date is the data of the latest downloaded value. The Bar graph plots the values of body weight and target body weight on the activity graph. Line chart: It displays the weight-losing curve based on pre-set target. The Progress Graph can be used whether it plotted the weight-losing graph as planed or not. Please note: Body weight on each bar of the latest day in a week is displayed. The average value of activity energy expenditure of each period is displayed under bars. The data of first day, last day and the data with step counts are less than 50 steps will not be included in the calculation of the average value. Print All graphs and charts can be printed out except the Weight Loss Plan and progress graph. By clicking the [Print] button, the following window will appear. Select the printer and paper size and click on the [OK] button. The graph displayed on the screen will be printed out. By clicking on the cancel button, the window will close. 35

When you have trouble Lifecorder Plus is disconnected The following message will appear when the USB cable that connects the Lifecorder PLUS to the computer is not connected properly. Please ensure that the cable is properly connected. Cannot download data from Lifecorder PLUS -Please ensure that the USB cable is connected to the Lifecorder PLUS and the computer. - Please ensure that the battery is correctly installed in the Lifecorder PLUS. - No data is downloaded when the data recorded in the Lifecorder PLUS is less than 30 minutes. Please operate the Lifecorder PLUS for more than 30 minutes in order to download data. - Please use the following procedure to check whether the USB driver has been properly installed in the computer. For Windows XP 1) Please select the [Control Panel] from the Start menu. 36

2) The following window will appear. Please click on [Performance & Maintenance]. 3) The following window will appear. Please click on [See basic information about your computer]. 4) The following window will appear. Please select the [Hardware] tab, and click on the [Device manager] button. 37

5) If the driver is correctly installed, the following window will appear. In this case, we presume that the problem lies on the Lifecorder PLUS. Please refer to the operation manual of Lifecorder PLUS. If the [?] or [!] mark appears as shown on the below window, there is a problem with the USB driver. 6) Please right-click the [! Lifecorder PLUS] or [?] Lifecorder PLUS], and then click on [Update driver]. 38

7) The following window will appear. Please click on the [Next] button to proceed to the next step. 8) The following window will appear. Please click on the [Browse] button. 9) Please select the [Driver] folder on the PAAS personal folder, and then click on the [OK] button. 39

10) The following window will appear. Please select the [Next] button to proceed to the next step. 11) The driver software is being installed. 12) The following window will appear. Please click on the [Finish] button to complete the installation. 40
