Securexam Mac User Guide Unlike previous versions, Securexam for Mac now functions much like the PC version where it integrates with PlanetSSI to retrieve a user s exams and licenses via the web and upon exam completion, now uploads the exam to PlanetSSI as well (whereas in the past the user would save the file to their desktop and have it retrieved via USB key). After Downloading the software from PlanetSSI and installing it on your MAC, you will find the program located in the Securexam Folder located inside the Applications Folder of your hard drive. It is recommended that your drag these 3 icons to your Toolbar at the bottom of your screen for quick access to them:

Get Exams and Licenses: Securexam Activation You must first activate Securexam by getting your Exams and Licenses for the current Exam Period. This is accomplished by clicking on the Get Exams and Licenses Icon. The initial screen prompts the user for their Securexam/PlanetSSI user name and password: The download button will not enable until both a username and password are entered. If incorrect credentials are entered, the following will be seen:

When the correct credentials are entered a confirmation is displayed: The only action available is to quit the application.

Securexam Student Taking an Exam: When Securexam Student/Mac is first started the following screen will appear: After selecting the OK button, the user will be logged out of the desktop. After logging back in with your normal Mac credentials, a Securexam login screen is available: Enter your Securexam/PlanetSSI user name and password and click OK.

Once the user has logged in, the following screen is presented: There will be two tabs to choose from, Prepared Exams and Blue Bok Exams The Exams you actually will be taking will be listed under the Prepared Exams tab. ONLY CLICK ON THESE EXAMS ON THE DAY YOU ARE ACTUALLY TAKING THEM!!!! On the day of your actual exam, you will select the exam you are taking under the Prepared Exams tab and then click OK. The next screen that appears will show your anonymous 5 digit exam number for the Exam Period. DO NOT CHANGE THIS!!!!

You will then be brought to the screen where you type Start to begin your exam. Do not do so until you are told by your proctor to begin your exam!! Once in the exam, verify that the page header is correct: At this point you can type your exam answers. The remaining information on how the software works from this point on for a Prepared Exam (i.e. exiting and transferring of the exam) can be found below after the Taking a Practice (Blue Book) Exam section.

Taking a Practice (Blue Book) Exam: Before your actual exams, you will want to test out the software to ensure proper functionality and to also familiarize yourself with how the software works before taking an actual exam. This is accomplished by taking a Practice (Blue Book) Exam. To take a Practice (Blue Book Exam), follow the above instructions for Taking an Exam, but instead of selecting the Prepared Exams Tab, select the Blue Book Exams Tab. You will now see the following screen: Please type the word Practice into all of the fields that you see and then click OK. The next screen that appears will show your anonymous 5 digit exam number for the current Exam Period. DO NOT CHANGE THIS!!!!

Simply click OK which brings you to the Start screen where you will now type Start You can now familiarize yourself with the software and also ensure its proper functionality prior to your actual exams Exiting an Exam: When you are finished typing your exam, please click at the top left of the toolbar Securexam Student and then Quit Securexam Student

When the user attempts to exit the exam, an exit confirmation is displayed: Click on Exit Exam and then Proceed The following message will appear. Simply click OK You will then be prompted to Log back into your Mac. Please use your normal Mac credentials.

Exam Transfer The Exam Transfer utility will automatically launch and show any exams that have not been uploaded yet (Note: the exam transfer window might be behind other open windows). Click on Start Transfer. If you successfully upload, the following screen will appear:

Conversely, if you are unable to upload, you will get the following screen: Either way, successful or unsuccessful, you will now quit the Transfer Utility!!!!

If you have successfully uploaded, you will now check out with the proctors in the front of the room returning all exam materials, signing the Honor Code Certification, and informing them that you successfully uploaded your exam. If you were unsuccessful in uploading your exam, when you quit the Transfer Utility the exam will still be on your desktop. PLEASE RAISE YOUR HAND AND THE PROCTOR WILL RETRIEVE YOUR EXAM WITH THE USB KEY!!! Once the proctor retrieves your exam onto the USB key, you now may check out with the proctors in the front of the room returning all exam materials, signing the Honor Code Certification, and informing them your exam is on the USB Key.
