Chapter 1 Introduction USB ADSL modem is designed to prov ide cost-effective access to high-speed ADSL services. With this ADS L modem, surfing on Int ernet is just like driv ing a sports car on the Express Highway. V ideo on Demand, Vi deo Conference and any hi gh speed internet applicat ions is not just a dream any more, but a reality! For ADSL LAN mode user * VPI/VCI value * Encapsulation mode(example: RFC 1483, 1577...etc.) * IP Address, Subnet Mask * Gateway value * DNS For ADSL WAN (PPPoE/PPPoA) mode user * VPI/VCI value * Encapsulation mode(example: RFC 2364, 2516...etc.) * User name & password 2
Chapter 2 Installation Hardware Installation To install the USB ADSL Modem, perform the following steps: 1. Insert the rectangular end of a USB cable into the USB port of your PC. Then, insert the square end of the USB cable into the USB port of the USB Modem. 2. Insert the Driver CD into the proper drive. Driver Installation for both LAN and WAN mode with WIN 98 1. Aft er you hav e connected the ADSL USB Modem to your PC, t he Add New Hardware W izard wil l be displ ayed. Insert the driver CD and cli ck Nex t. 2. Choose the Search for t he best driver for your device ( Recommented), and click Next. 3. Sel ect t he CD-ROM drive and Specify a locati on then click Browse. (Make sure you hav e i n- serted the installation disk into the CD-ROM drive.) 4
4. Please specify the path which your ADSL modem connect ed to Internet, and then click OK.(The following pictures and instructions are taking LAN as an example.). 5. Cl ick Next. 6. Cl i ck Finish t o complete the installation. 7. To set the ADSL configuration,please go to page 10. 5

Aft er you hav e connected the USB ADSL Modem to your PC t he Add New Hardware W iz-ard will be di splayed Choose the Automatic search for a better driver (Recommended) and click Next. 2. Please specify the path which ADSL modem connected your computer to Internet, and then cli ck OK. 3. Cli ck Finish t o complete the installation. 4. Driver Installation for both LAN and WAN mode with Win 2000/XP 1. Aft er you have connected the ADSL USB Modem t o y our PC, t he Found New Hardware Wizard will be displayed. Insert the driv er CD and click Next. 2. Choose the Search for a suit able driver for my device(recom-mended) and click Next. 3. Select t he CD-ROM driv e and Specify a l ocat i on and t hen click Next. (Make sure you have inserted the i nst all ati on di sk i nt o the CD-ROM drive.) 7
4. Cl ick Browse t o search driver s loction. 5. Please specify t he path which your ADSL modem connect ed to Internet. (The follow- i ng pi ct ures and i n- structi ons are t aking WAN as an example.) 6. Click Next. 8

Chapter 3 ADSL Configuration ADSL LAN Confi gur ati on 1. Co n e xa n t A c c es s R u n n e r A D S L i c o n should be added in t he control panel or on the desktop. 2. Cl i ck the Conexent A cc es s Ru nn er A DS L icon, i t will be di splayed the st atus of the modem. 10
3. Press Alt + C on t he keyboard, the right figure appears. 4. Under t he Protocol Setup please set t he value of VCI, VPI and En cas ula tio n. 11
5. Cl ick My Computer on the desktop\control Panel\Network\ Configuration -> select TCP/IP -> click properties to set t he steps of 6 t o 8. 6. I P Address set ti ng: s e l e c t S p e c i f y a n address, t hen ent er the value of IP Address and Subnet Mask whi ch released from your ISP. 7. Gateway sett ing : enter the data from your ISP and click Add. 12
8. DN S Co nf ig ur atio n setting : Select Enable DNS, ent er Host name and add DNS Server Sea rch Order. Cli ck Add and OK. 9. Reboot your computer. ADSL WAN Confi gur ati on 1. Co ne x an t A cc es s R u n n e r A D S L a n d A c c e s s R u n n e r D S L icon should be added in the control panel and on the desktop. 2. Click t he Conexent A cc es s R un ne r A DS L icon, it will be displayed the st atus of the modem. 14
3. Press Alt + C on t he keyboard, the right figure appears. 4. Unde r t he Protocol Setup p l ea se se t t he v al ue of VCI, VPI and Encasulation, t hen click OK. 15
5. Click t he Access Runner DSL icon on the desktop -> enter User name, Passw ord and Phone n u m b er ( d o n t c a r e ; r ec om me nd 0 00 0 ) from your ISP. 6. Click Connect.
