Page 2 Introduction Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 will offer Microsoft Office 2013 workshops during the summer. Workshops will be offered in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. All workshops are taught by certified Microsoft Office Specialists. These workshops are open to all teachers, paraprofessionals, and clerical staff. However, preference is given to educators/staff in the IU8 service area who are employed full-time, parttime, or on a substitute basis. Location of Workshops All sessions will take place at the IU8 Educational Development Center, located at 580 Foot of Ten Road, Duncansville, PA. All sessions will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and end by 3:00 PM. Lunch will be provided. Directions from West Take US 22 East 20 miles past Ebensburg. At the base of the mountain, take the Duncansville/Hollidaysburg exit. After exiting, follow PA 764 South to Duncansville. Turn right at the third light onto Old Route 22 (Pizza Hut will be on your right). On Old Route 22, take the first left onto Foot of Ten Road. The Ed Tech Center is the second school on the right. Directions from East Take US 22 West through Hollidaysburg into Duncansville. At the intersection of PA 764 and US 22 (Dairy Queen, Pizza Hut on right), go straight onto Old Route 22. On Old Route 22, take the first left onto Foot of Ten Road. The Ed Tech Center is the second school on the right. Directions from North (PA 36) Take PA 36 South to Hollidaysburg. Turn right onto US 22 West to Duncansville. At the intersection of PA 764 and US 22 (Dairy Queen, Pizza Hut on right), go straight onto Old Route 22. On Old Route 22, take the first left onto Foot of Ten Road. The Ed Tech Center is the second school on the right. Directions from I-99 On I-99, take exit 28 (Ebensburg). Microsoft Office 2013 Workshops Page 3 Word 2013 Workshops Word 2013 Level 1 Word processing is the use of computers to create, revise, and save documents for printing and future retrieval. This workshop will provide you with basic concepts such as creating documents, editing and formatting text, working with paragraphs and pages, and printing documents. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Windows. Date: Tuesday, June 24, 2014 9:00-3:00 Word 2013 Level 2 You can customize and automate the way Word 2013 works for you. In this workshop, you will create complex documents in Word 2013 by adding components such as customized lists, tables, and graphics. You will also use Word 2013 efficiency tools such as mail merge, templates, and styles. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Windows, Word 2013 - Level 1, or related experience. Date: Tuesday, July 8, 2014 9:00-3:00 Word 2013 Level 3 You know how to use Word 2013 to create and format typical documents. Now, you may need to work on more complex documents. In this workshop, you will use Word to create and modify charts, table of contents, footnotes and endnotes, cross-references, indexes, captions, forms, and macros. Page 4 Excel 2013 Workshops Excel 2013 Level 1 You have basic computer skills such as using a mouse, navigating through windows, and surfing the Internet. You have also used paper-based systems to store data that you run calculations on. You now want to migrate that data to an electronic format. In this workshop, you will create and edit basic Excel 2013 worksheets and workbooks. You will also be introduced to basic formulas and functions that are used to calculate data. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Windows. Date: Thursday, June 26, 2014 9:00-3:00 Excel 2013 Level 2 In Excel 2013 - Level 1, you created, edited, formatted, and printed basic spreadsheets. Now learn how to display spreadsheet data in more visually effective ways. In this workshop, you will use Microsoft Excel 2013 to enhance your spreadsheets with charts, graphics, and formulas. You will also discover how to create templates that will help streamline repetitive tasks. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Windows, Excel 2013 - Level 1, or related experience. Date: Thursday, July 17, 2014 9:00-3:00 Excel 2013 Level 3 In this workshop, you will extend your knowledge into some of the more specialized and advanced capabilities of Excel by automating some common tasks, applying advanced analysis techniques to more complex data sets, collaborating on worksheets with others, and sharing Excel data with other applications. Microsoft Office 2013 Workshops Page 5 PowerPoint 2013 Workshops PowerPoint 2013 Level 1 In today's work environment, presentations have moved far beyond flip charts and overhead projectors. Audiences not only expect that your presentations are in an electronic format, but they also demand that your presentations be unique and sophisticated in their use of such formats. In this workshop, you will work with PowerPoint 2013 to create electronic presentations. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Windows. Date: Tuesday, July 1, 2014 9:00-3:00 PowerPoint 2013 Level 2 As a PowerPoint 2013 user, you are familiar with the basics of creating a presentation and you are able to convey information effectively in a simple way. Static content in presentation, however, will not keep your audience interested. In this workshop, you will enhance presentations with features that will transform basic presentations into a powerful means of communication. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Windows, PowerPoint 2013 - Level 1, or related experience. Date: Tuesday, July 15, 2014 9:00-3:00 On-Site Training Workshops IU8 also offers customized, on-site Microsoft Office 2007, 2010, and 2013 training to its member school districts and nonpublic schools. A Certified Microsoft Office Specialist will come to your location and train your staff. Our Technology Services Administrator will help you plan and customize a hand-on program that will best meet your needs. Page 6 Session Information Workshops begin at 9:00 AM and will end no later than 3:00 PM. A lunch break is included in the workshop schedule. IU8 will provide food and beverages. Each participant will receive an instructional book and the exercise files that accompany the workshop. Computers with Windows 7 and Office 2013 will be available for use at the workshop. Registration Information Registration Fee: $150 per session Registration is required to attend and must be made at least one week prior to the date of the workshop. The registration fee will be used to pay for instructor fees, materials, and other costs associated with the workshop. If a school district is paying the registration fee, a district administrator must sign the registration form indicating approval for invoicing. If a district is not paying the registration fee, then payment must accompany registration. IU8 reserves the right to cancel a session due to low enrollment. Registrants will be notified if their session has been cancelled. Online Registration Now Available You may now register and pay for these workshops online. Refund/Cancellation Policy A full refund (100%) will be issued if the class is cancelled by IU8 due to low enrollment. A full refund (100%) will be issued if a participant cancels at least one week (7 days) prior to the class. No refunds will be issued for cancellations by the participant with less than 7 days notice, or if the participant simply does not attend. Additional Information A certificate of attendance will be awarded for each session. Participants will receive credit only for those hours in attendance. The participant s school district would be responsible for submitting any eligible Act 48 hours to the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Please get prior approval from your school district for enrolling in these workshops as you would for any other professional development activity.
