NEW COPIERS 2017 INSTRUCTIONS Our new copiers have been fitted with card readers so that you can access them using your district issued ID card - the same one you use for the door to enter the building. Look for the card reader on the front of the machine with the red reader light. If the copier is working properly and not displaying any error messages, the sign in screen looks like this.
Tap your card on the reader to sign in. The first time you use your card on a copier, you will be asked to associate your card with your username and password. This is the same username and password you use to sign onto a computer. Tap in each box to bring up the touch keyboard, and input your username (first initial, last name) and password. When you have input both fields, click the Set button. At this point your card is associated with your user name in the system, and any of our district copiers will be able to log you in with your card.
Now with just a tap of your card, you will be logged into the copier and taken to your own home screen. Print release is what was formerly known as the mailbox. It is your own holding area for all the print jobs you have sent from either your Chromebook or your computer. In fact, on the home screen itself, you can see how many print jobs you have waiting for release, and how many pages they total. You are offered the option of printing everything in your mailbox right then with the Print all button. The jobs always come out on the copier you are logged into. If you select Print release, you can look at your mailbox and select the jobs you want to print.
When you select a job in your mailbox you can see some details about the job on the right, including how much it costs the district, at $0.003 per page, to print the job. Another option on the Home screen is Scan, which you can use to scan documents to either your email box, or your private H drive on the server. The Device Functions button on the home screen takes you to the standard copy function......and by use of the home button on the copier s control panel you can access the full range of the copier s functions such as faxing, and scanning documents to someone else s email.
Always, when you are finished using the copier, tap the Logout button. You will either find it at the top right of the home screens, the copier functions screen, or as a button on the copier s control panel (padlock button). But wait I forgot my card! If you re standing at the copier and don t have your card with you, you can always tap Username and Password, and put in your username and password by tapping on the boxes on the screen. Additionally, there is a second logon option available, ID Number, which will soon make it possible for you to access the copier using your door card s PIN number.
Print Release The way you print to the copiers is now much more simplified, and much more secure. Print Release is what most of you know from the old copiers as Mailboxes. When you print from your computer, your print job goes to your mailbox, where it will be stored for up to two days. When you are ready to print the job, go to a copier, log in, and print the job. To make this happen we are going to be removing all of the old copier printers from your computer. (Labeled for example, HS - Teacher Workroom 1, or NS - Office Copier etc.) From now on, when you want to print to a copier, any copier, you print to the Kyocera Print Queue. This is what will send the print job to your mailbox. It is the only printer on your computer you ll ever need to print to when you want to print to a copier, because you re not actually printing to any specific copier. You are printing to your own personalized copier Print/Release box. You retrieve it from your box once you get to the copier you want to print it on. While we will make every effort to make this removal of the old, and installation of the new, automatic, there s a chance you may still have some of those old copiers on your computer as print options. Please ignore them and use the Kyocera Print Queue. If you use the old copier options when printing from your computer, they ll shoot straight out of the
copier, which is bad for lots of reasons you already know about. Use the Kyocera Print Queue. If you don t have that option on your computer, please restart your computer. If you still don t have that option after that, please submit a tech ticket and we can make sure you have it.
