Remote Access Installation Getting Started with Remote Access If you re on a desktop or laptop, open your browser and go to http://remote.palmettohealth.org. You may want to create an internet shortcut or favorite for convenience. A login screen will display like the image below where you will enter your Palmetto Health network account and password. If you re using a smartphone or tablet, skip this and head directly to the installation instructions for your platform! Installing the Plugin on Windows XP, Vista, 7 If this is the first time you have logged into Remote Access from a Windows computer, you will be prompted to install the Citrix XenApp Plugin. You will need to install the Citrix XenApp Plugin on each computer you use to connect to Remote. Select the checkbox to agree to the Citrix licensing and click on Download. NOTE: Browser settings and firewalls can interfere with the successful download of the Plugin. The following message may appear at the top of the Browser window stating that This website wants to run the following add-on: Citrix Helper Control from Citrix Systems. Click on Run ActiveX Control to continue. Remote Access Instructions 1
Click Run to install the Plugin and choose the installation defaults. Administrative privileges on the workstations are required to install the Plugin successfully. Remote Access Instructions 2
Installing the Plugin on Windows 8 Windows 8 brings many updates and enhancements, and in that comes a different way to install the plugin: 1. Open the Charms menu (the right-hand side bar) by moving the mouse to the right edge of the screen or swiping from the right edge of the screen to the left. 2. Pick Search, then select the Store option from the menu below the search bar. This will launch the Store app and direct your search toward Store results. 3. Search for Citrix (without quotes) and install Citrix Receiver from the Store. You will be notified when installation is complete; you do not need to open the application once it has finished. After you have installed the Citrix Receiver application, unless you are launching Internet Explorer from the Desktop as opposed to the Start Menu, you will need to use the Already installed link when presented with the option to download the plugin after logging in. Additionally, when you launch an application instead of immediately opening, you will be presented with a dialog asking what you would like to do with launch.ica. Select open to launch the published application. Installing the Plugin on a Mac On a Mac OS X PC the quickest and most efficient way to do this is with Citrix s own site, by following the instructions outlined below. 1. Open Safari and browse to http://receiver.citrix.com/. 2. Click on Download Receiver for Mac. 3. The file will begin to download, and make take a moment to complete (33mb, ~23 minutes on a 3G speed connection, ~30 seconds on cable). 4. When it completes, if your Downloads menu did not open automatically, press Option + Command + L to open it manually. 5. Double click on CitrixReceiver.dmg, and in the window that opens double click Install. 6. When prompted, Allow the installer to continue, and provide your password to the installer when asked. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation. 7. At the end you will be asked for your email address or server address, press Cancel instead. You will be greeted with a giant green check stating that installation was completed successfully, click Close. Installing Citrix on an iphone, ipad, or Android The installation procedure on a smartphone or tablet is very different from installation on the computer, as outlined below: Remote Access Instructions 3
1. Head to the App Store or Google Play on your device and search for Citrix Receiver. Select the appropriate application for your device, and install it. 2. Open Citrix Receiver from your home screen or apps screen once it has finished downloading. Tap on Add Account to begin the set up process. 3. In the Address box for your new account, type https://remote.palmettohealth.org and then touch Next. 4. If the URL was typed correctly, you will then see an account information page. Fill in the following blanks as written and leave all other settings at default: a. Username: your Palmetto Health Network Login id. b. Password: your current Palmetto Health Network Login password. c. Domain: rmh 5. Tap Save and wait for the application to verify, if everything was entered correctly you will be presented with a new home screen, otherwise it will request that you correct errors in the information. Remote Access Applications Remote Access Initial Icons Page After a successful login, the Applications window will appear with icons to launch your applications. On smartphones and tablets, you may need to tap the Apps tab on the side of the screen. Which icons appear will depend on your access level. For security reasons, on desktops and laptops the Applications window will close after 3 minutes. This will not affect the application you launched from this page. If you need more than 3 minutes, click on the link that says more time required for an additional 5 minutes. On smartphones and tablets for the same reasons, you may be required to log back in after the same amount of time. To do this, open the Apps tab and then tap Log Off. Select Palmetto Health from the list of accounts to be prompted to enter your password again and log back in. There is no more time required option for mobile devices. Remote Desktop Connection Click on the Remote Desktop icon, enter in the PC ID in the Computer blank and click Connect. Remote Access Instructions 4
You will be prompted to login with your Palmetto Health Network Login id and password, just as if you were sitting at the PC. To disconnect, you may click on the X at the top of the screen in the center, or select Start > Disconnect from the Start button on the lower left. Common Errors SSL Error 61 A very common error that occurs on Windows computers when attempting to launch an application is described below. If you do not encounter any error messages or problems opening applications, you can skip this download. Error Message: Cannot connect to the Citrix XenApp server. SSL Error 61: You have not chosen to trust VeriSign class 3 secure, the issuer of the server s security certificate. Solution: For Windows 7, Vista and XP users, go to link below to download and install the Root Certificate Update from Microsoft called rootsupd.exe. You may click on the link below. Click here to download the rootsupd.exe If you are prompted with a Validation required message, click Continue and then Download. Click Run to perform the installation. Windows 7 users may not receive a finish dialog. You can then proceed with using the MyAccess web-site. Remote Desktop Connection Error If you attempt to make a connection to a Palmetto Health PC and get the following error, it may be for the following reasons: Remote Access Instructions 5
1. The PC is not powered on 2. The PC ID you typed is incorrect. It needs to be in the format of PC000000. That is PC followed immediately (no dash and no space) by exactly 6 numbers. 3. You may not be authorized to access PC s remotely. Please contact the Help Desk. Tries to Download.ICA file instead of Launching Application (Windows Only) If you click on an icon and are prompted to download a.ica file instead of the application launching, you will need to add us to your list of trusted sites! To do so: 1. Press the Windows key and R to open the Run box. Type inetcpl.cpl and click OK. 2. Open the Security tab at the top, and then highlight Trusted Sites below. 3. Click on the Sites button just below the Trusted Sites icon. 4. Type https://remote.palmettohealth.org/ in the blank and click Add. 5. Click Close and then click OK to exit configuration.
