Minimum Device Specs The primary device MUST be a Windows device and meet the minimum specifications: All students Wireless Network Connectivity (not 3G or 4G) Processor dual core Hard drive - at least 64GB storage RAM at least 4GB Operating System - Windows 8 or higher but Win10 recommended A screen size of at least 10 Anti-virus software (AVG or Avast are fine) Must be able to back up work from the device Minimum battery life of 6+ hours Senior Graphics or Film & TV Minimum Specs plus: i5 Processor Hard drive 500GB or 256SSD. SSD is preferred but not essential. RAM 8GB Independent graphics card preferred but not essential e.g. 2GB NVIDIA

Retail Vs Education devices A guide to purchasing options: Retail devices that meet minimum specifications usually: are cheaper devices (under $400) that have a low performing processor meaning they are very slow and frustrating to use are not built for daily transporting in a school bag only have 1 year back-to-base warranty Education devices developed to sell to schools, and parents through schools usually: are not available in retail stores have fast processors meaning they are a fast device are built to sustain hard wear and tear include a 3 year at school on-site warranty have a battery guaranteed to last all day #NOTE: Education devices are not available for purchase through normal retailers. BYOx Troubleshooting The following Dos and Don ts will enable students to get the most out of their BYOx device at school. Support will be available through the school website and the Tech Help Desk at school. Dos Out the box basic setup and student must have full admin rights Uninstall any supplied antivirus software & Microsoft Office trial Follow Install instructions for MS Office & antivirus from our Aldridge Software for Students webpage Set BYOx wifi as metered connection at school to avoid Microsoft Updates exceeding students download quota Bring the laptop to school fully charged Restart the laptop daily before coming to school Logon via the BYOx login before class Backup all your data regularly Run regular virus and malware scans Report any problems to Tech Support Don ts Don t configure a personal Microsoft account on the laptop Don t use the device for illegal activities such as downloading pirated content or streaming Don t install software unless you own a license for it or it is open source Don t loan your device to other users Don t leave your device unattended or in an unsecure location
