Introduction Review these sections to see the new features, enhancements, and bug fixes for this release: MARC 21 features Text View features Searching and browsing features Local holdings records features Constant data records features Bug fixes Important links are also available. 3

MARC 21 features Automatically create a 043 field with the correct MARC Geographic Area Codes to match data in the record If a bibliographic record has one or more fields with a 651 field with a $a or 650 field with a $z, you can automatically create a 043 field with the correct MARC Geographic Area Codes to match data in the record by selecting Create 043 from the Edit Actions drop-down menu. If successful, this action inserts a new 043 $a field into the record with a $a containing each geographic area code that was found. This action can be performed in MARC 21 bibliographic records, including saved in-progress records. 4

Copy data in an untraced series in a 490 field and add it to an 830 field This action takes data in an untraced series in a 490 field and adds a traced series in an 830 field by selecting Create 830 from the Edit Actions drop-down menu. If successful, this action updates the 490 field so that it has an indicator of 1 and inserts an 830 field into the record. This action can be performed in MARC 21 bibliographic records, including saved inprogress records. Saved in-progress records can be added to the export list On the Record Actions menu, the Add to Export List is now available for saved in-progress records. 5

Default holding library codes sorted When viewing the available default holding library codes in the User Preferences window on the General tab, the codes are now sorted so that the default holding library code is positioned first and the rest of the codes are listed alphabetically. Guided entry available for 33X fields If you are creating or updating 33X fields (336, 337, and 338), you can use the guided entry panel to enter information. For these fields, an expansion arrow appears before the main text box for the field. Click this arrow to view the guided entry panel. Enter the information into the appropriate fields. You cannot enter or edit text in the main field while the guided-entry panel is expanded. 6

Dewey cutter type listed in menu In the Edit Actions menu, you can quickly see what Dewey cutter type (either Four-Figure or Sanborn) is currently being used for the bibliographic record. The Dewey cutter type can be changed in the User Preferences dialog box. Keyboard shortcut dialog available A keyboard shortcut dialog is available so that you can view keyboard shortcuts that can be performed on the page, panel, or field on which you are currently working. Open the shortcut dialog box by pressing the CTRL + ALT + F key combination. In the list of available keyboard shortcuts, press the key that corresponds with the action that you want to perform. For example, if you click the s for Save Actions, then another dialog screen appears so that you can select the appropriate save action. 7

Wording for holdings information at top of bibliographic records improved The wording for the holdings information at the top of the bibliographic record was improved to be easier to scan and understand. 8

Text View features Wording for holdings information at top of bibliographic records improved The wording for the holdings information at the top of the bibliographic record was improved to be easier to scan and understand. 9

Searching and browsing features View records using new navigational buttons After you search for a record, you can open one of the records in the results and then move back and forth among the records by using new navigational buttons at the top of the records. If you make a change to a record, a new vertical tab opens and is identified as a changed record. If you continue to browse unchanged records, you will continue to view the information in the same vertical tab. 10

Call number browse results have link to parent bibliographic record After using the basic search panel to perform a call number browse, the results appear in the main panel. In the table that lists the results there is a bibliographic information column that contains the links to the corresponding bibliographic record. When you click on a link, the Edit page for that bibliographic record opens. New encoding level 3 search index available A new encoding level 3 index (lv:3 = abbreviated level) has been added that searches for those bibliographic records in WorldCat with encoding level of 3. It only allows for searching value 3. You can use this index to search for records within your WorldCat holdings so that you can enhance them. Example: li:ocwms AND lv:3 11

Holdings information added to Other Records Linked to Work panel A new holdings column was added so that you can see whether a title is held by your library and view the number of other libraries that own the title. 12

Local holdings records features Preference available to display tag numbers for fields Within the Edit Local Holdings Record page, click the User Preferences icon. On the Display tab, you can select Label or Number for the Field Marker. 13

For example, if you select Number, the tags for each field are displayed. 14

Constant data record features Constant data shortcut keys added These new shortcut keys were added for constant data. After opening up the Shortcut Key dialog box (CTRL+ALT+F), you can press the appropriate key to perform the action. Shortcut Key Primary Dialog Action Dialog Screen Cancel changes and go back to list of constant data records b --- Open list of edit actions shortcut keys in open record e --- Open diacritics dialog box CTRL+ALT+F e d Secondary Dialog Screen Open list of record actions shortcut keys r --- Reformat record r r Derive record r d Delete record r e Save record s --- 15

Other features and enhancements Open a Record Manager record from Collection Manager (Available December 2014) Users who are working in Collection Manager can directly open a record for editing in Record Manager. When viewing the list of titles within a collection, you can click the Edit icon (a pencil) on the right of the OCLC number to open the specific record in the Edit page (MARC 21) in Record Manager. Your library must be using both Collection Manager and Record Manager to perform this task. 16

Bug fixes Corrected 856 field entry issues Users were having issues with entering URLs and then losing the work when the record was saved. This issue has been corrected and URLs can now be successfully saved in the 856 field. Corrected local holdings record retrieval issue Users were having issues with viewing more than ten local holdings records that were attached to a bibliographic record. This issue has been corrected and all local holdings records can now be viewed. 17
