Introduction About Novel Cognition Novel Cognition is just that. A commitment to new thinking used to drive internet marketing training, tool, tactics and theory. We develop training and tools to implement our tested approaches. About NOVCOG RSS If your business relies upon search engine marketing or SEO, you recognize important role quality backlinks and syndication play in getting top search engine rankings and traffic. This is singularly fundamental and yet, even if you are actively building powerful backlinks to your websites, chances are you don t have a simple tool that can get those newly created backlinks crawled and - hopefully indexed. Much less a means to build 2nd and even 3rd tier links easily. If you are not building backlinks, how do you get the search engines to crawl your links? After all, a link not found by search engine bots is essentially no link at all (from an SEO standpoint). This is where NovCogRSS comes in. You can paste any link - that you want search engine spiders to crawl into the plugin and then watch it do it's magic as it goes out and submits it to various ping aggregators as well as social sharing sites (you decide where it submits to).

Installing NOVCOGRSS Installing NovCogRSS is fairly straight forward. It installs just like any other WordPress plugin installs, but in case you have never installed a plugin before, here are the steps to doing it: 1. Download the NovCogRSS plugin and save it to your desktop 2. Then Login to your WordPress admin panel 3. Hover your mouse over Plugins and then click on Add New 4. Click on Upload 5. Then click on Choose File to locate & select NovCogRSS from your desktop 6. Once selected, click Install Now 7. When installed, Activate the plugin and you are good to go. Let's Get Started Plugin Settings Before you get busy creating campaigns, I would strongly recommend going through and fully setting up the plugin. To do that (assuming you installed and successfully activated it already), go to the Plugin Settings page in the NovCogRSS plugin. For the record, the plugin should appear in the left sidebar of your WordPress admin panel (if it doesn't, you probably have too many plugins installed and will need to locate this plugin through the Plugins tab). All the NovCogRSS pages I will refer to henceforth can be found beneath it when clicking on it, or by hovering your mouse over it. Let's get it set up!

Your Bit.ly Credentials Bit.ly is free to join and use, and as such, I highly recommend the use of it. What bit.ly does findamentally is transform long ugly feed URLs into a short bit.ly URLs. This is of great use when it comes to sharing your links on social sites like Twitter. This option is not required to make the plugin work, but the share buttons on the Manage Campaigns page won't pre-populate your URL unless you have this set up. Why Bit.ly? Three reasons: First, it's free. Second, its convenient (no hassle to it), and third, Google has white-listed bit.ly URLs due to their popularity on social sites.

RSS Filler Text Additional feed customization The RSS Filler Text page is a group of settings you do not need to change. It includes the text used as filler content (descriptions/titles) within the feed. The page itself includes the specifics on how to update/add/delete filler descriptions and titles, if you wish to alter it. This is a level of customization you need not change for the basic operation of the plug-in. Category Settings Again, these settings you do not need atttention unless you desire an additional level of niche specialization. The Category settings page is set up with matching categories in Pingler.com. Meaning, when you select one of the existing categories while creating a new campaign (and you have Pingler.com set up), it will match your campaign feed to the respective Pingler category. You are welcome to add your own categories or take current ones out, but please keep in mind that any categories you add will not be aligned with Pinglers categories. And if you select a category created by yourself when generating a campaign, it will submit that campaign feed to your Pingler account under a General category. Again, no need to mess with the current setup but it is ultimately up to you. If you don't integrate Pingler into your submission plans, it all would ultimately not make a big difference. Setting up a Campaign Add Campaign The Add Campaign page is where campaigns are created. This should be very straight forward, but here is a quick walk-through in case details are unclear. #1.) Name this Campaign Here you want to enter a short name for the campaign you are about to create. The only place this is used for, is for your own use (so that later you can tell the campaigns apart). It is not part of the created RSS feed. As long as it contains numbers or letters and is at least 6 characters long, you should be good to go. #2.) List of URLs This is where you paste in the URLs you want to get crawled by the search engine

bots. If you are backlink building, this is where pasted URLs go the URLs that comprised the newly created RSS feed. Important: Make sure that each URL you put in starts with: http:// Ideally you would want to enter at least 10 links in the box before creating a campaign. There are no limits as to how many links you can paste in there but I'd recommend no more than 1000 at a time just to make each feed work more efficiently. It ultimately is up to your campaign objectives. #3.) Describe Campaign Simply enter a short description as to what these links are all about. The description will be used in the campaign feed add the level of detail the search engines need to understand your keyword or niche. Brevity will do the trick. #4.) Enter Keywords Here you can enter a list of keywords that you want to rank for. Keywords are being used randomly within the feed and while not critical, they are an opportunity. I would strongly recommend using keywords you ultimately want to rank higher in Google for. #5.) Select a Category Selecting one of the default categories means that it will get submitted to the same category on Pingler. #6.) Links per RSS Feed How many links would you like to display in the feed? I would recommend no more than 25. Ideally you want between 10 and 20 at least that is what you see in the average RSS feed. #7.) Feed Update Frequency How often do you want the feed to update and show a new random set of URLs? If you have a lot of URLs, more often is better, but if you only have a few URLs in that particular campaign, I would recommend spreading it out. The feed is set to update just like a blog feed updates when a new post is made. Meaning, as a new link gets added to the feed, an old one gets taken off.

Managing Your Campaigns Manage Campaigns The Manage Campaigns page is where you can as the name says literally manage your campaigns. From here you can manually ping your campaigns to pingomatic every 3 days using the manual Ping Now! button. Literally with the click of a button :) You can also manually share your campaign feed to your social network from here through the share button feature. Noticed incorrect information in an existing campaign? Use the Edit link to edit the campaign or use the Delete link to permanently delete that particular campaign. At the top of the page you will also see a yellow box with an RSS feed link in it, and that particular feed includes links to 10 random campaign feeds. I personally would recommend building a few backlinks to this link on a regular basis. I once built some backlinks to a main feed (like this one) on one of my sites and even to this day (years later), Google bots keep crawling it every few minutes. Meaning, when a new link appears in that old feed, it does not take long before search engine bots are all over it. Doing this - in a sense - is as if you are building your own indexing portal. The main feed is a very powerful feature in the right hands. Final Thoughts NovCogRSS is a fantastic tool but it is of no good to you unless you actively put it to good use. In other words, now that you have this tool, go out and build powerful backlinks. Go out and have backlinks built. Whatever route you prefer, make use of this plugin and make it work for you. Since this is not a guide on how to do SEO, I will refrain from pushing you in any direction, but if SEO and backlink building is something you need help with, be sure to visit us at www.novelcognition.com. There are updated resources there weekly. Thank you once again for being our customer and as always: If you have any questions, be sure to get in touch with us through here.
