A GROWTH DYNAMIC Legrand s ambition is to boost its leadership in electrical and digital building infrastructures, in order to become the benchmark player in smart electricity. This dual ambition requires a fast rhythm of new product launches and targeted acquisitions, both on especially promising market segments and in new economies. New economies, a major growth lever As they drive the global market, new economies are quite naturally a development priority for Legrand, which currently makes one third of its sales in countries such as Russia, India, China or Mexico fast-growing markets with strong demand for innovative infrastructures. New business segments Social and technological developments provide Legrand with a variety of growth opportunities. Digital convergence in particular is opening the way for buildings to be equipped with smart infrastructures. Today, 20% of Legrand s business is done in digital infrastructures, energy efficiency, wire-based cable management solutions and home systems. These are all fast-growing markets, and Legrand is determined to pursue its longer-term development in these high-potential areas, with a focus on two especially promising segments: - assisted living, where Legrand is developing innovative solutions designed to meet the challenge of staying independent, and - electric vehicle charging stations, which fit perfectly with the Group s Sustainable Development approach. In each of these three areas, Legrand has identified priorities for its development, among which the promotion of energy efficiency and of wider access to electricity. > Carefully targeted acquisitions to stimulate growth In 2010 and early 2011, Legrand continued expanding its business through targeted external growth. The focus was on new economies, with the acquisitions of Inform, the leader in UPS in Turkey, and Indo Asian Switchgear, a major player on the Indian market for protection devices. Legrand also boosted its positions on new market segments by taking over Meta System Energy, an Italian specialist in modular UPS, Electrorack, a US specialist in VDI enclosures for data centers, and Intervox, the French leader in connected security systems. 8
