SEAN REES PORTFOLIO This is a selection of my recent professional and personal design pieces.
WEB / UI - Volume Integration I m in the middle of a redesign right now for Volume Integration; a company in Virginia who asked me to rebuild their site. This sample is a mockup for their new product page made into a long scrolling affair that tells a short story of each of their products and allows the user to click through more info.
WEB / UI - Youtube Kids App redesign The Youtube Kids app is plagued by clunky user interface, strange functionality and frustrating parental features. I tried to solve some of the problems in this app through user testing & heuristics. I streamlined the app considerably, included needed functionality and made the app much more accessible for the intended audience; kids. Click to try the Invision Prototype.
WEB / UI - Falls Center While at Essentia Creative in Wilmington Delaware I created a website for Falls Center, a housing community in Philadelphia. They wanted something clean and easily navigable.
PRINT - Salt Lake City Weekly I was the Assistant Art Director at Salt Lake City Weekly, an alternative newspaper in Utah. I was in charge of overseeing the other designers work, doing press checks, corresponding with photographers and other artists and in laying out the 88 plus page paper each week.
PRINT - APSCU I did a few advertisements for APSCU, The Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities. These were supposed to grab peoples attention but also be informational and let people know the plight of private sector colleges and non-profit education.
PRINT - Potbelly I worked as the graphic designer for Potbelly Sandwhiches while I lived in Chicago during 2009. The piece on the left was built as an advertisement to be seen in the metro system on trains and in terminals. It was then repurposed to show in magazines and other print placements. The piece on the right was a printed coupon of sorts that was one of many.
PRINT - Potbelly Starting from the top these are a roadside billboard, a bus wrap and a train wrap. These were designed and displayed in Chicago and surrounding suburbs.
PACKAGING - Fitness Essentials These are packaging dielines that were used for a fitness company; Fitness Essentials in Utah that showed their products in TJ Maxx and other department stores in states all over the country.
BRANDING - Iron Stone I worked in Wilmington Delaware at Essentia Creative as the Assistant Art Director. While there I had the opportunity to do alot of branding for big companies. These are some of the options I gave to a Iron Stone Real Estate Companies for their rebranding. They wanted to feel established, firm and they used the word money alot so I designed a few patterns that look a bit like the patterns on our currency.
BRANDING - Abel Center These are some of the logo options I gave to Abel Center, an oculofacial plastic surgery / wellness center. They wanted to be seen as a place of healing, rebirth and freshness.
TYPEFACES - Miquel Font I create typefaces for clients and for myself. The font shown here was done for a group in Spain called the Arrels Foundation and their Homeless Fonts initiative. I was asked to create a font using their member Miquel s handwriting.
TYPEFACES - Miquel Font These are specimens of the Miquel Typeface.
TYPEFACES - Sean Sans A self initiated project where I tried to create a simple, condensed, legible sans serif typeface. I wanted there to be an even typographic color that allowed it to be used for body copy comfortably as well as looking unique enough to be used at display sizes.
TYPEFACES - Sean Sans This is another sample of Sean Sans
TYPEFACES - Junk Font I was working as the director of the graphic design department at a career college in Layton, Utah. I wanted to get my students interested in typography so I did this project with them where we brought in old electronics, mechanical garbage and tools for disassembling it all. We built typefaces out of all the bits and pieces.
TYPEFACES - Junk Font This is an example of all the photogrpahed pieces and some of the glyphs I created for Junk Font.
TYPEFACES - Hodgepodge Alpha This was a self initiated project drawn entirely on my iphone. It was a fun challenge to limit my color palette and tools and to come up with a family of glyphs that were cohesive. I could see this existing on children s books.
TYPEFACES - Hodgepodge Alpha This is the full glyph set for this typeface.
TYPEFACES - Pama Font I got asked by a tech company in Berlin Germany to create a typeface based on their logo. The uppercase letters are the crazier, more sci-fi letters and the lowercase are uppercase as well but simpler and more normal. Pama loves their typeface.
TYPEFACES - Pama Font Many of the glyphs in the Pama font went through many iterations until they were right. The ampersand in particular was fun / tricky to build.
TYPOGRAPHY I have a love of typography and lettering. These examples are random type projects both personal and professional.
TYPOGRAPHY Bespoke lettering for a memorium piece.
