Lunch & Learn Skills for Small Business Presenters: Mary Afuso, Del Mar College and Kim Hunziker - Texas Workforce Commission The Aransas Pass Chamber hosted a Lunch & Learn Tuesday, June 20th in partnership with Mary Afuso, with Del Mar College and Kim Hunziker with the Texas Workforce Commission. Attendees learned how presenting customer service skills for Small Business - is a funding tool to provide small business access to leading edge content with an overview of course schedule and content provided in leading customer services courses.

The Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce held its monthly Luncheon on June 27th, "Hurricanes, before and after, lets all be prepared". Thank you to all that attended and to our guest speakers Captain Lynn Pearce of the Aransas Pass Police Department, and Brandi Ashby-Fisher, TEM District Coordinator, Field Response DDC 20, Corpus Christi Texas Division of Emergency Management. Captain Lynn, informed local chamber business leaders of the Local Emergency Management, and stated It is important that we have a stand alone emergency management. We know our strengths and weaknesses. We take care of our own. Lynn also explained the process in which the local emergency management handles, starting with our City Mayor as the Emergency Management Coordinator. In Texas, Mayors and County Judges have responsibility for emergency preparedness and response within their local jurisdictions. Local emergency management include threat identification and prevention activities, emergency planning, providing or arranging training for local officials and emergency responders, planning and conducting drills and exercises, carrying out public education relating to known hazards, designing and implementing hazard mitigation programs, coordinating emergency response operations during incidents and disasters, and carrying out recovery activities in the aftermath of a disaster.
