Welcome to you user manual for your website Your website is unique to you. We build our websites on the Wordpress platform. and each of our websites are designed to be different. To achieve this we use a theme called Divi to build your site and there are universal ways to edit your site. In this manual we will run through the basics and we will add pages then to your specific manual if your website has any extra features. 1. How to login into the back end (Dashboard) of the website 2. What do you need to know when you login 3. How do I find the page I want to edit 4. How do I find the area of the page I want to edit 5. How to change text and pictures 6. How do I add a hyperlink 7. How to edit your Blog / News 8. How to update your Gallery 9. How to add Video 10. How to add Pages 11. How to add new pages to your Menu 12. Yoast SEO plugin ***Please note: Some items may not apply to your site***

Open two tabs in your browser. Have the website open in one and the login page open in the other. This way you can flick back and forth to see your changes. Remember to refresh you website page to see the latest changes. To login go to: http://www.yourdomain.ie/wp-admin Check your email for username and password 1 2 3 Most websites will only be using the below. If your site has any extra features we will cover these at the back of the manual. Once logged in you will be brought to your Dashboard. Areas here on the left you will use are: 1. Posts: This is your blog, you can edit and add blog posts here 2. Media: Here is where all your images and pdf s can be stored. 3. Pages: You can edit each page that is currently set up or create a new page. If you create a new page you will have to add it manually to your menu. See further along in the manual to do this.

When you click on pages you will be brought to the list of current pages set up. To edit one of these pages simply click on the name of the page. When you click into any page you will be met with the page layout. The layout is broken up into sections called, rows and modules. Rows are the row of information or template layout of the page. The modules are the elements with a row that contain the information such as Text, Images, Code, Slider, Gallery etc... You will; generally only be editing the dark grey boxes (Module). Wherever you see the 3 lines highlighted above that means you can edit that section. You are really ever going to be editing the modules so only click on the 3 lines within the module you are editing. If you see a module green that means that the module is universal throughout the site and if you change it once it will change throughout the site.

As an example we will take the Home page and scroll down to find Text module to edit the text on the home page. Click on the 3 lines on the Grey box (module). Here you will be met with a pop up window. You can go in and edit the current text that is there. Once you are finished press Save & Exit and then press Update on the right hand panel. Save & Exit will save the module but Update with save the whole page. As well as editing text you can edit the images that are there or upload new images into your text. If you want to edit the current image, click on the image and then click on the pencil icon that appears. If you want to add an image anywhere within the text place your cursor where you want the image to go then press Add Media. You can either select an image from the Media Library or Upload a new image. Then by clicking on the image you can re-size it or align. left or right. ***Ideally you should have you images re-sized for low resolution. It is recommended that your images be under 150kb. If you upload images to your website that are over 1MB in size this will slow down your website dramatically. You can edit image sizes with the Media Library by clicking on Edit Image. Make images 1200px wide.***

You can re-size the image, align it left or right or click on replace to replace the image. If you choose to replace the image you can choose from the image in the media library or choose to upload a new one.

To add a hyper link within text or posts, go to the page or post and highlight the word or sentence you wish to link. Click on the Insert/Edit link highlighted above. Click on the the little cog wheel icon to update the link. You can paste a url into the box or you can select an internal page or post. If you are pasting in a url you can tick the box to Open link in New Tab which is waht is recommended if you are linking to an external site. ** Always remember to Save the article and then Update the page when you are making changes.***

To add or edit your Blog posts go to Posts. You can see your existing ones here. To add a new click on the link at top. *** The layout of the posts page is set up to match your first Blog post. If you rollover the title of the news item in the list you will see clone. This will clone your previous news item so just go in to that and edit the information.*** Add your title, add your body of text and or images (Add Media) and then take the first two lines of your text and paste into the Excerpt box If you scroll down on the right hand side you can add a featured image and if you are using categories select the category of the news item you want it be associated with. ***Once you are finished press Save & Exit and then press Update on the right hand panel. Save & Exit will save the module but Update with save the whole page.***

To update the gallery pages go to pages and pick the gallery page you wish to edit or add to. Look for the Grey module that has Gallery on it and click on the 3 lines. To edit or add images click on the Update gallery Section. ***Just to note we always turn off Show Title and Show Caption. If you have sepcific text you want under the image when it is being viewed then when you are updating the Gallery change the text in Title not Caption***

Edit your current images or add to Gallery ***Once you are finished press Save & Exit and then press Update on the right hand panel. Save & Exit will save the module but Update with save the whole page.*** If you want to add multiple galleries to a page or another category to the gallery, insert a module under the existing one and find Gallery, edit and update gallery as above. To put a title above the gallery insert the Text Module first. These modules are click and drag so you can arrange the order by simply clicking and dragging above or below. ***Once you are finished press Save & Exit and then press Update on the right hand panel. Save & Exit will save the module but Update with save the whole page.***

If you use toggle bars or an accordion or wish to add this function these are the instructions. These modules are click and drag so you can arrange the order by simply clicking and dragging above or below. If you want to edit an entry click on the 3 lines of the module and follow the previous instructions on editing text and images and links etc... To add a new toggle box click on Insert Module and choose Toggle. Choose Toggle. Enter text as previous instructions. ***Once you are finished press Save & Exit and then press Update on the right hand panel. Save & Exit will save the module but Update with save the whole page.***

If you have video on your site or wish to add this function these are the instructions. If you want to edit an existing video click on the 3 lines of the module. See the pop up window below and follow instructions. To add a new video box click on Insert Module and choose Video. We recommend you have a Youtube Channel set up first and upload all videos to this, they will generate a link and you can paste this link into this module in the box highlighted above. ***Once you are finished press Save & Exit and then press Update on the right hand panel. Save & Exit will save the module but Update with save the whole page.***

If you want to add pages to your site. I would have templates of each page saved so it is easy for you to duplicate a page and then edit the content. Go to Pages and Add New Then you need to press the purple button Use Divi Builder

Now click on Load from Library And then click on Add from Library, here you will see the templates that are saved in relation to your site, so if you want to replicate the home page select home, if its a news page select news or pages select pages which is usually the template for the services page or most common page layout.

Now after you create a new page you will need to add this page to your Menu. On the black left panel go to Appearance and Menu. In the red circle above you will see the most recent pages available, tick the one you want to add and poress Add to menu. When it is added to you menu list it will appear at the bottom of the list. You can click and drag it to where you want it positioned on the menu. If you want it as a dropdown then indent it under the main menu tab you want it associated with. When finished Save Menu. Additional Features: If your website has any additional features or if you would like to know how to do more with your website will gladly add these instructions to your user manual.
