INTRODUCTION: The NRC Draft Name Correction Portal allows correction of the spelling of the name of Applicant, Father, Mother, Spouse Name, and other particulars viz. Age/ DOB (Date of Birth), Gender, Address (Permanent or Present), Place of Birth. Corrections mean that the particulars need to appear as per the manner in which the particular had been submitted in the Application Form by the applicant. Corrections can be done only for particulars of those persons whose names have been included in Complete Draft NRC. Such corrections cannot be done for those persons whose names have not been included in Complete Draft NRC. Corrections can be made in both English and vernacular languages. REGISTRATION: The following steps need to be followed to use the NRC Draft Name Correction Portal: Step 1: Registration: Use of this portal will require registration using the Mobile Number and any one of the valid Legacy Data Codes (LDCs) used in the Application Form. If no LDC was used in the Application Form then those ARNs can be registered only with mobile number. New users need to register through any one of the Registration Processes given below: i. Registration Process 1: If you have used any Legacy Data Code (LDC) in your NRC Application Form, registration will require quoting any one of all valid Legacy Data Codes (LDCs) used in the Application Form. Even if an LDC is used by just one out of many members who have used any other List A document, that LDC will be essential for registration. In addition, use your Mobile number * for registration. ii. Registration Process 2: If you have not used any Legacy Data Code (LDC) in your NRC Application Form i.e. no LDC is used by any of the members, you can register with only Mobile Number *. *Any Mobile Number can be used for registration. Such Mobile Number need not necessarily be from any of the Mobile Numbers given in the original Application form. After registration in this portal, such Mobile Number will be referred to as Registered Mobile Number (RMN). For security reasons, OTP will be sent through SMS to the mobile number used during registration. The said OTP will have to be given to complete the registration process. The owner of the Mobile Number (using which registration in the portal has been done) will be legally responsible for any corrections/ modifications made. ONE MOBILE NUMBER CAN BE USED ONLY ONCE FOR REGISTRATION. ONE ARN ONE MOBILE NUMBER. ONE MOBILE NUMBER ONE ARN. 2 P a g e

Step by Step Procedure for Registration: 1. Click on Register tab in the following window: 2. The following interface appears. Enter your ARN and Captcha in textbox given and then click on Validate button. 3. The portal will check the following conditions of the ARN 3.1 Whether the ARN is valid or not 3.2 Whether any of the member is present in Complete Draft or not 3.3 Whether the ARN is already registered or not 4. If all the above conditions are fulfilled, then the portal will check whether any LDC is present in the ARN or not, and if present then then it will ask to enter an LDC (Legacy Data Code). 3 P a g e

5. Enter any of the valid LDC used during Application submission and then click on Validate button. The portal will check whether the LDC entered is actually used in the Application Form for the said ARN and allow to proceed on to the next screen only if the LDC is found to be so used. In case, the LDC entered is not amongst any of the valid LDCs used in the original Application Form, the following message will appear: 6. If the LDC entered is found to be in order, the following screen appears, the fields with an asterisk (*) are mandatory. Following important points should be kept in mind during Registration: 4 P a g e

6.1 LDC stand for Legacy Data Code - any LDC used in the NRC Application Form can be given here. 6.2 HOF stand for Head of the Family - HOF Name as given in Original NRC Application Form. 6.3 Correspondence Address: Give your correct correspondence address here. In case of change of address also, the new address can be given here. Remember, you will not be able to give any new addresses while making any corrections in Present or Permanent address in the next pages even if you have changed address after NRC Form submission in 2015, as only correction in case of errors in digitization will be allowed. 6.4 Village/ Town Ward: Name of Village/Town ward can be seen from Complete Draft NRC viewing portal by searching your ARN. The Village Name/ Ward Number and the 3 (three) digits in bracket displayed there may be noted for quoting here. 6.5 Mobile Number: It is not necessary that this Mobile Number should have been mentioned in original Application Form. Mobile number must be from India and of 10 digits. Address Entering Protocol in NRC Database: It s important to understand the manner in which addresses are recorded in NRC Database. The following fields are to entered for all addresses: 1. Country 2. State, and a. for addresses within Assam, the following fields are mandatory : i. District : This is the name of the Revenue District ii. Circle : This is the name of the Revenue Circle iii. Village Name/ Town Ward : This is the name of the Revenue Village in rural areas and the Town Ward Number in urban areas. For Guwahati, the Town Ward Numbers has to be based on the 60 Wards in Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) that existed just prior to the rollout of the NRC Update process. It s possible that in some cases, particularly, urban areas, the public may not be knowing the names of the Revenue Circle and/or Village Name/ Town Ward. The address field, however, will only accept an option available in the respective drop downs. One way of easing out this problem is to check the District/ Revenue Circle/ Village Name/ Town Ward details from the Draft NRC Portal where the portion above the area displaying the names of family members displays also the details of District, Circle, Village Name/ Town Ward, NSK name and number etc. Please remember to note the 3 digits in the brackets which would also be helpful while selecting the name of the Village Name or Town Ward Number from the drop-down. In the Draft NRC Portal, these particulars are displayed only for such address which is in Assam i.e either the Present Address or the Permanent Address in the original NRC Application Form. If the Present Address is in Assam, it will display particulars of that address but if the Present Address is outside Assam, then it will display that particulars of the Permanent Address from Assam. It maybe borne in mind that for applying in NRC Update, either the Present Address or Permanent Address has to be within Assam. However, for any reason, say change in Current Address etc, such details will not be available in the Draft NRC Portal and will have to be collected by visiting the designated NSK. For any address outside Assam, however, such particulars viz. District, Circle, Village Name/ Town Ward maybe typed and need not be forced to be chosen from drop-down options. For addresses in Guwahati, the NRC web-site provides a visual / map based system of knowing the Ward Number under the NRC Highights section called as Know Your Ward Guwahati. 7. The combination of Mobile Number entered during registration and the Password entered will be the Login Credentials to be used subsequently to enter the portal and carry out any corrections/ modifications. 8. After filling in all information, click on the Generate OTP button. An OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to the Mobile Number through an SMS. This OTP will be essential to complete the Registration process. OTP is used is to verify that the person using the portal is actually using the same Mobile Number. The said Mobile Number will thereafter be referred to as the Registered Mobile Number (RMN) for NRC Draft Name Correction Portal. 9. After successful registration, proceed for Login. Login: User has to login to the Application with the Credentials created during registration. 5 P a g e

1. After successful Login, the following window appears. Click on Proceed button. 2. The following window appears displaying the list of members whose names have appeared in NRC Complete Draft. 3.
