Layad Circuits This kit is a careful selection of sensors, displays, modules, an Arduino Uno, connectors and other essential parts meant to facilitate learning of the hardware and software components of the Arduino environment. In particular, this kit aims to: Present the fundamental principles of interfacing microcontrollers with the real world using sensors Present the basics of Human-Machine-Interface using buttons and displays Help readers get started with the basics of the Arduino programming language through practical experiments This kit is unique from other kits as it attempts to gather only what is really needed most by a learner. This keeps the cost down yet maximizes the number of important components included in the kit. Often used as a current limiting resistor for LEDs. 270 (or any of these: 220,330, 470,510) ohms Resistor, 1/4w, 1% 2 General purpose resistor. Often used as medium pull up/down, fixed resistors in voltage dividers with variable resistance sensors 4.7K (or any of these:5.1k,6.8k,8.6k,10k,20k) ohms Resistor, 1/4w, 1% 2 2
General purpose resistor. May be used as weak pull up/down and for other purposes 100K(or any of these: 47K, 50K, 150K, 200K, 330K) ohms Resistor, 1/4w, 1% 1 General purpose resistor. May be used for implementing capacitive touch sensors or other circuits requiring high resistance 1M (or any of these: 500K, 2M) ohms Resistor, 1/4w, 1% 1 General purpose 10Kohm potentiometer. May be used as contrast adjustment knob for the LCD module, as a user input or as a variable voltage generator. 10K Potentiometer 1 Piezo transducers produce voltage when the disc is subjected to mechanical vibrations. See the voltage using the analog (ADC) pins of the Arduino. This may requires soldering of the terminals wires. The inner circle is positive (red wire) while the outer circle is negative (black wire) Piezo Transducer/Sounder 1 This is equivalent to a variable resistor that automatically decreases it resistance as temperature increases and vice versa. Useful in approximating temperatures. May withstand up to 500C. Use a fixed value resistor in series to form a voltage divider network. Use the Analog pins of the Arduino to detect the voltage at the midpoint 10K NTC Thermistor 1 Kimat Flame Sensor Module and IR sensor 1 This is a multipurpose module. It is a flame sensor and also a general purpose IR receiver. When coupled with the Kimat IR Transmitter module, they act as an infrared Through-Beam sensor. The terminals of 3
the unused op-amp channel are exposed with pads allocated. This module is a Layad Circuits branded module. The LDR is a simple way to detect light intensity. Its resistance varies with light. Use with a fixed resistor in a voltage divider setup and measure the voltage changes at the midpoint. 5mm Light Depent Resistor 1 Small PBNO s great for learning switch detection, debouncing and simulating signals. Use the breadboard and connecting wires to quickly connect to an Arduino. Push ButtonTactile Switch NO 2 This is a general purpose IR emitter. When paired with the Kimat Flame sensor, they act as a through-beam IR sensor. At a 330ohm approximate internal resistance and 5V supply, it shall draw some 15mA of current. Simply apply a 3.3V or 5V voltage at the IN pin to turn on the emitter. It may be connected directly to an Arduino pin. Kimat IR Transmitter module 1 DIP switches are SPST switches integrated in a standard DIP IC package. This version has 4 channels for a total of 8 pins: 4 channel DIP Switch 1 4
A Hitachi HD44780 compatible LCD with 16 columns and 2 rows. It may come either with a blue or yellow-green backlight. 16 x 2 LCD Module (Yellow-Green) 1 This is a 5mm RGB LED. Use it 3 individual LEDs with their cathodes (or anodes) tied together (longest pin). By varying the intensity of each color (e.g. via PWM), the LED produces several colors. Do not forget to install current limiting resistors for each color. 5mm RGB LED 1 Layad Circuits branded snap-on module for the Arduino meant as a human input interface with minimal wiring.
