Portable Memory Recorder Broadcast Products Technical Bulletin 20-2013-021 DATE: January 28, 2013 SUBJECT: SOFTWARE UPGRADE VERSION 2.20 MODEL: SR-R4 SRK-CP1 DESCRIPTION Software version 2.20 is available. SERIAL NO: SR-R4 20,001 20,344 SRK-CP1 80,001 80,350 NOTE: Both SR-R4 and SRK-CP1 must be upgraded to the latest versions. Downgrading is not supported. Before upgrading SR-R4 to V2.20, upgrade the system software of F65 docked with SR-R4 to V2.20. Refer to technical bulletin 20-2012-125. PARTS REQUIRED Part No. Description Qty. FSRR4V220 SR-R4 Software V2.20 1 ORDERING INFORMATION To order upgrades, contact: Sony SoftwarePLUS (800) 538-7550 www.sony.com/softwareplus Customers outside the United States: Please order parts or upgrades from your usual supplier. NOTE: The software is available by download only from the SoftwarePLUS website above. SRM12-033 NEW FUNCTION 120p TC Synchronization 120p TC synchronization is added. When shooting two F65+SR- R4 systems, the systems are synchronized to 120 FPS. Shooting and TC are synchronized only under all the following conditions: Format for both systems is F65RAW-HFR S119P or S120P. SYSTEM FORMAT > Frame (TC) of SR-R4 is the same. (For example, both systems are set to S119P (23p).) Both F65 units are Genlocked. Page 1 of 12
Both SR-R4 units play roles of master and sub of TCG. TC OUT of Master SR-R4 is connected to TC IN of Sub SR-R4. TC menu > TCG setting of Master SR-R4 is set to Preset, Free run, TCG (No delay). TCG of Sub SR-R4 is set to Regen. Frame rate is set to 120 FPS only. (Shooting is not synchronized with other frame rates.) NOTE: When changing FPS during STOP, EE video is momentarily disturbed between 120 and 119 FPS. TCG (No Delay) Output The TCG (No delay) output setting is added. TC menu > OTHERS> TC OUT > TCG (No Delay) When TC OUT is set to TCG, TC output of SR-R4 is delayed, depending on the amount of delay in F65 monitor output. When TC OUT is set to TCG (No Delay), TC output of SR-R4 is not delayed. When synchronizing TCs of two SR-R4 units with two F65+SR-R4 systems synchronized, set the Master SR-R4 to TCG (No Delay) and regenerate the Sub SR-R4 so that TCG of two SR-R4 units can be synchronized. When using the TCG setting, the amount of delay in TC output of SR-R4 is increased when performing Image Invert on monitor output of F65. ipad SR-R4 Control ipad SR-R4 control is expanded. The TC setting, various playbacks, and Mark In of SR-R4 can be controlled from an ipad application (F65Remote) that is connected to F65. SDI File Name Superimposing Function The SDI File Name superimposing function is added. The NEXT filename of SR-R4 is superimposed on ANC of SDI output of F65. The naming regulations of SR-R4 are for Camera mode only (A001C001_format). XML File Salvage If power shuts down while recording, XML files are recovered as much as possible with XML File Salvage. If recording time is short (several seconds), the last file cannot be salvaged. Unless main files are salvaged, XML files cannot be salvaged. NOTE: If power shuts down while recording, salvage with the unit used for recording if possible. If a card on SR-D1 must be salvaged, salvage after upgrading to the latest version of each model. Seamless List Playback Specification The specification for Seamless List Playback is changed. Settings: SYSTEM > PB FUNCTION > PB CONTINUE > LIST SYSTEM > PB FUNCTION > SEAMLESS > LIST The Seamless List playback function (which was a beta function of the DIAG menu in V2.00) is now a standard function. (The Seamless IN/OUT function remains a beta function.) Files in the list are played back smoothly and continuously without freezing between files. NOTE: Audio and metadata for files shorter than ten frames (20 frames with 50P and higher) are not played back. If a repeat setting is used in combination, video freezes momentarily when it returns from the end of the list to the top. Files with a different frequency are not played back. Seamless playback is not played back at Select FPS. CP Display The color displayed during REC/P mode is changed. SYSTEM menu > LCD > MODE COLOR > ON (FileName BG) The background color for the filename display in the HOME menu changes as follows, depending on REC/PB mode. Black STOP or FULL EE during playback Red REC Green Playback The display for the SR Motion screen is changed. The SR Motion screen (which appears by pressing the FUNC+ENTER keys in Select FPS format) is displayed on the upper side of the conventional HOME menu. The SR Motion screen disappears when the BACK button is pressed and reappears when the HOME button is pressed. SYSTEM menu > FILE NAME is moved to DIAG. SYSTEM menu > OPTION INFO is deleted. Remain Display The Remain display is changed as follows: Both TC Remain and Rec Remain are displayed on the CP HOME menu. Rec Remain is displayed in the SR Motion menu that appears on the CP at Select FPS. The Remain display for F65 and the ipad is changed to the FPS conversion value (Rec Remain). Page 3 of 12
When Near Full is detected during recording, Rec Remain is also used. The threshold of Near Full is changed to prevent Near Full from appearing early, especially at high frame rates. When either TC Remain or Rec Remain is within three minutes, the Near Full alarm is issued. Specification for Mark In During REC A specification for Mark In operation during REC is added. Mark In can be performed by pressing the REC button only. Previously, Mark In was performed by pressing the FUNC+REC buttons. Additional Operations with FF/REW Button Additional operations can be activated by pressing the FF/REW buttons as follows: To cue to the top of the current file, press the REW (Prev) button in STOP mode. To cue to the end of the current file, press the F.FWD (Next) button in STOP mode. With these operations, a file search can be started without pressing the PLAY button in advance. Expanded PB FUNCTION The STOP menu item is added to enable EE video to be created immediately after confirming playback while on shooting location: SYSTEM menu > PB FUNCTION > EOF ACTION > PAUSE/STOP PAUSE When playback reaches file end, mode transfers to PLAY PAUSE STOP When playback reaches file end, mode transfers to STOP (EE). PROGRAM IMPROVEMENTS Renewal timing of Metadata Shot is corrected. The picture at STOP in RAW-HFR PB format is changed from color bars to a grey picture; however, if SR-R4 power is turned OFF, the picture output from F65 appears. 119i Salvage is corrected. In HFR PB format, REC REVIEW is inhibited because the mode cannot be transferred to REC PAUSE. If the LAST REC file is in a REC REVIEW prohibited format, the warning CANNOT REC REV is issued. NOTE: For complete details of all improvements, refer to the latest version of the SR-R4 Operation Manual (1 st Edition, Revised 5). Page 4 of 12
