Files and Folders A file is an electronic document, which can be a WORD document(.doc), a spreadsheet file (.xls), a MP3 file (.mp3) or a picture file (.jpeg). A folder is a container (directory) for programs and files in GUI interfaces. It is used to organize files or other folders.

WINDOWS EXPLORER The Windows Explorer window is often divided into two sections, called panes. The pane on the left side Folders pane, displays the structure of drives and folders on your computer. The pane on the right details pane, displays the contents of a drive or folder.
