What s New in This Release This is the second release of the firmware for VideoEdge 4 Channel IP Encoder. Note: VideoEdge 4 Channel IP Encoder version 1.02 is intended to be used with Intellex IP running software version 4.17, refer to the American Dynamics website for Intellex IP upgrade instructions. New Features Localization of all VideoEdge IP Encoder web pages into French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), and German. Note Factory default camera names and administrator account name are always in English as the factory default language is English. Selectable deinterlacing on 4-CIF images. This feature is defaulted to ON. PTZ camera control from Live View web page. Improvements Video compression speed has been improved (i.e. a higher frame rate when heavily loaded, and/or are able to use deinterlacing without slowing down as compared to release 1.0). Default sensitivity on Live Video web pages changed to High. Camera names as configured on the VideoEdge IP Encoder now appear properly in the Live View web page video panes. 2
Closed Limitations The following limitation from release 1.0 has been corrected: Overall stability of the firmware. The system now properly detects when running on the factory defaults, and shows warning messages accordingly. 4643 The Checking Network Type message does not automatically disappear from the Dome OSD after configuring the IP Encoder for Dome control via Sensornet, RS485 or RS422. PTZ protocols have been adjusted to assist AD cameras with their PTZ Network Discovery process ( Checking Network Type ). This will now occur within a few seconds of opening a PTZ session from any client such as Intellex, Network Client, or the Live Video web page. 3
Open Limitations and Known Bugs The table below highlights the open limitations and known bugs against VideoEdge IP Encoder 4 Channel Firmware Version 1.02.1056. Description 4559 There is no variable speed on the pan and tilt of PTZ cameras using certain protocols. 4570 On Pelco domes, the Define Pattern session does not close if a pattern is not defined. 4577 On Cyberscan-I PTZ protocol, manual focus does not work if the camera returns to the preset home position. 4579 When defining a pattern on a Pelco dome, using the Pelco D and P protocols, Pan and tilt moves too fast when zoomed in 4921 A few dialog boxes have yet to be localized, these include the PTZ pattern/preset replace/cancel confirmation dialogs. 4962 Cannot properly cancel pattern definition using BBV ptz protocol. Attempting this turns on the pattern definition mode on the camera. 5074 At times, video playback frame rate may be inconsistent, either on live web page or Intellex IP 5138 it is possible to get the controls in the live video web page out of sync with what the live video display is showing. For instance, it may say All when only one camera is shown. This can happen when making too many changes too quickly. 5182 If running on a PC with installed Microsoft.Net 3.5 runtime, or if running on a PC that has any other application that uses this runtime version, will not be able to use this PC to access VideoEdge IP encoder webpage When connected directly to VideoEdge IP Encoder, AD domes do not automatically discover the PTZ communications network after powerup. Suggested Work-Around Those protocols use only fixed speed commands. Re-enter the Define Pattern menu and define a pattern or use the Pelco keyboard to close the session. Use auto-focus or disable the home position function with a Cyberscan keyboard. Use the Pelco keyboard to define patterns. There is no workaround available for this limitation. To exit pattern definition mode on the camera, repeat the cancel process. If in Live Video Web Page, ensure the Direct Draw option is enabled. Ensure changes to the live video page are not made too quickly. If it gets out of sync, changing another setting will resynchronize the page. Use a PC that doesn t have MS.Net 3.5 runtime installed. Open a PTZ session from any client (e.g. Intellex, Network Client or the Live Video web page). Wait a few seconds for the Checking Network Type message to go away. 4
Description Audio in/out and alarm outputs are not functioning. If DHCP is set on the encoder and no DHCP server is available, configuration not saved message will show up when internal IP address generator changes the IP address SensorNet implementation supports only SpeedDomes on network. Severe motion on all cameras when set to highest resolution and quality may reduce the image rate. Suggested Work-Around These hardware features are not yet supported in the firmware. Either put a working DHCP server on the network, OR configure the encoder with the desired fixed IP address and save that configuration. VideoEdge Encoder must be the master on the SensorNet network. Other devices such as Touch Trackers are not supported. Avoid grouping cameras with high motion or high resolution settings on the same encoder.. 5
