Version: V4.0 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) Current promotion scheme In order to promote the International Day of Yoga, the stage-1 (theory) exam for both Level 1 and Level 2 will be free of cost. This will be valid from 16 May 2016 till 21 st June 2016 (International Day of Yoga) The exam initial fee for Stage 1 (theory) both Level-1 and Level-2 will be borne by Ministry of AYUSH however, once the candidates pass the theory they will have appear for stage 2 (practical) exams for which the fee structure will be as follows: Level 1 - Rs.2,500 (plus service tax of 14.5%) totalling Rs.2863 for Indian nationals Level 2 - Rs.4,500 (plus service tax of 14.5%) totalling Rs.5153 for Indian nationals Also, the first 2000 candidates who pass the examination in their first attempt will be reimbursed the examination fees already paid less the service tax. This scheme is applicable from 8 March 2016 for the candidates appearing for the examination on or after 8 March 2016. The Scheme may be extended or withdrawn without any notice. This is a scheme by which Yoga Professionals will be certified for their competence to be yoga professional. Please note that it is not a yoga course or training programme Are there different levels of certification? Yes. There are 3 levels of certification Level 1 Yoga Instructor Level 2 - Yoga Teacher Level 3 Yoga Master Level 4 Yoga Acharya Currently Level 1-Yoga instructor and Level 2 Yoga Teacher certification is operational. What is the difference between Level 1 and Level 2 Please read the competence standard document 3A and 3B to know the difference. However the following is the difference:- A LEVEL 1 - Instructor 1. There will be 30% marks for theory and 70% marks for practical 2. The candidate needs to have only knowledge of shat kriya but not required to demonstrate all of them 3. The Theory content is lower compared to level 2 4. There is no need to teach a theory subject during the interview 5. There is need to instruct the group on a few practices B LEVEL 2 - Teacher 1. There will 50% for theory and 50% for practical 2. The candidate needs to demonstrate shat kriya 3. The candidate needs to teach the class on a theory subject 4. The candidate needs to teach the class on a few practices How will the scheme be operated? The Scheme will be operated by Accredited Personnel Certification Bodies Who will accredit the Personnel Certification Bodies? The Personnel certification Bodies will be accredited by National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB) as per ISO 17024 What are the accredited personnel certification bodies? Currently there are no accredited personnel certification bodies. The accreditation will be done in due course of time. Who will certify Yoga Professionals? It will be done by Quality Council of India (QCI) for the time being. However it will be done by personnel certification bodies once they are ready and accredited. Section 2 Examination process How will the certification of yoga professionals be done? The Yoga professionals will be certified as per the scheme. The Scheme consists of 1. What is the process of certification? The yoga professionals desirous of getting certified have to apply for the certification to QCI. It can be done on-line as well as off-line. Applicants accepted will be informed of the centre at which they will be examined. The examination will consist of Written Examination Practical Demonstration Oral Interview The examination process flow is as follows: Each Level exam is conducted in 2 stages i.e. Level-1 exam will have stage-1 (theory) and stage-2(practical) exams and Level-2 exam will have stage-1(theory) and stage- 2(practical). The stage 1 (theory part) in Level-1 it will be only an objective examination. For Level- 2 theory, it will be objective and subjective both. Sheets for the subjective exam(level- 2) will be provided. Stage-1 exam will be online across various centres in the country. Exam will be held at proctored centres. Only those candidates that clear stage-1 (theory) exam will be invited to appear for the stage-2 (practical) examination. Candidates qualifying stage-1 will register by paying the prescribed fee for stage-2 & select a centre from the list of centres available. Stage-2 will be a practical exam at various venues in selected cities, where qualified candidates (both level 1 and 2) from stage-1 (theory) can appear. Certificate will be given only candidates that are successful in stage-2. Once your register you will be provided with login id and password for you to know the dates of examination for you. You will also be informed by email. What if I am unable to attend on the given date of examination?
If you are unable to attend the examination on the specified date, you can send an email to us within 2 days from the receipt of the mail informing of the dates of examination. You will be given an alternate date. However no further requests for different date or city will be accepted and you will forfeit the examination fees What is the mark for passing the examination? Level 1: Theory -There will be 66 questions of which you need to attempt only 60 questions. The marks required to pass the examination is 70% or 42 marks Practical - The second stage will consist of the following for the Level 1 Instructor Practical demonstration and oral interview. The marks required to pass the examination is 70% or 70 marks Level 2: Theory -This will consist of MCQ and Subjective question o There will be 66 questions of which you need to attempt only 60 questions. The marks required to pass the examination is 70% or 42 marks o Subjective type examination. There will be 11 questions of 4 marks each of which you need to attempt only 10 questions. The pass marks for this exam is 70% or 28 marks Practical The second stage will consist of the following for the Level 2 Practical demonstration and oral interview. The marks required to pass the examination is 70% or 70 marks What if I fail in the examination? Level 1 and 2 You will be allowed only ONE additional attempt only free of cost. If you fail in the first stage (theory) examination you need to re write the first stage examination If you fail the practical demonstration and oral interview you need to re appear for the practical demonstration and oral interview What is the subject for the examination? Please see the competency standard for the details. Written examination will test the knowledge and the practical demonstration will test the skills of the candidate. Do you prescribe any books? No. We do not subscribe any book or other reading material. The yoga professional is advised to prepare as per the competence standard given in section 3A and 3B Who will conduct the Practical Demonstration?
It will be conducted by a team of 3 senior yoga professionals. The candidate will have an option to opt out if there will be any conflict of interest with the team member. The team member should not have taught the candidate in the last 2 years time. How will I know the results of the examination? You can login to the website and see the details. You will also be informed by mail What is the validity of the Certificate? It is valid for 3 years. There will be surveillance once within 3 years when your competence will be re validated. You need to apply again for re certification after 3 years. Please see the competence criteria and certification process document for more details. You can apply on-line by visiting www.yogacertification.qci.org.in You can apply off-line by downloading the application form from the website How do I apply on-line? Please take the online option and check what is required. You require the following to apply on line 1. First decide whether you want to appear for Level 1 Instructor or Level 2- Teacher and then choose the option 2. Name, address, cell no, email id, Highest Qualification, Yoga training, experience, Language for examination, your examination centre, level of certification, soft copy of pass port size colour photograph 3. You need to agree to abide by the code of conduct & ethics as per format available in website. The filled up format to be submitted at the time examination 4. You need to sign a health fitness declaration 5. Pay the fees Why should I upload photograph? The photograph will be printed on the Admit Card for the exam. It will also be printed in the certificate Why Should I choose the language of examination?
The written exam, demonstration and interview will be conducted in the chosen language. Please note that the certificate will also carry Language of Examination: so that your students will clearly know the language that you are comfortable in teaching Why is my city not there in the list of examination centre? The list of cities for the examination centre is based on the likely number of applicants from that city. What should I do if my city is not there in the list of examination centre? 1. You can opt for any other city and appear for the exam at your own cost. 2. Wait for some time to see if your city is getting listed else appear at any other city at your own cost What is the fee for applying for this certification? For stage-1 (theory) of the exam the fee will be Rs.500 for both Level-1 and Level-2 (Service tax of 14.5% will be applicable) For stage-2 (practical) of the exams the fee structure will be as follows: Level 1 - Rs.2,500 (plus service tax of 14.5%) totalling Rs.2863 for Indian nationals Level 2 - Rs.4,500 (plus service tax of 14.5%) totalling Rs..5153 for Indian nationals Please note that: You need to pay a fee of 50% (of the first year fees Rs. 3000 plus taxes for level 1 and Rs. 5000 plus taxes in Level 2) in year 2 and 50% in year 3 respectively towards maintenance of the certification What If I have any grievance with the process or the outcome? Please see the section 5 document which details procedure for handling complaints and appeals How do I apply off line? You can download the application form and fill it up. Send the application form with fees, health fitness certificate and code of conduct and ethics and send to QCI What are the pre requisite to apply? There is no particular pre requisite to apply for the certification. There is no requirement of age, qualification, training or experience. It all depends on your ability to pass the examination Is it required to pass the previous level to apply for the higher level? There is no such requirement. You can apply for the level for which you are competent. You can please go through the competence required for each level and decide which level you want to apply. However the evaluation will be more rigorous as the level goes up What is the validity of the Certificate?
It is valid for 3 years. There will be surveillance once within this 3 years. You need to be re certified after 3 years. Please see the competence criteria and certification process document for more details Section 4 Registry What is Registry? QCI will maintain a database of certified yoga professionals What is the use of the Registry? 1. If you are a certified professional you can search in the registry and make sure your name is appearing in the registry 2. Employers can verify whether a particular professional is certified by referring to the registry 3. Anyone can request for the list of certified yoga professionals and download 4. Fake certificates can be detected by referring to this registry What information will be shown in the Registry? Basic demographic information provided by the applicant along with validity period of the certificate and photograph of the applicant will be shown.
