Setting Up Your WSU Apple ipad Mini Page 1 of 5 Your ipad Mini should be plugged in and ready to setup. ATTENTION: If using an existing Apple ID, students may not use an Apple ID that they share with anyone else. You must know, and have full access to, any security information related to your Apple ID. If you use an existing Apple ID, you may lose or alter data on other devices tied to that account. Any questions about this can be answered by the laptop technicians. Please read through these setup instructions carefully. Thank you, please continue on.
Page 2 of 5 1. Slide to set up. 2. Choose English. 3. Choose United States. 4. Choose warrior. 5. Log in with your WSU username and password and press Join in the top right corner. Your username is everything before the @winona.edu in your email. 6. Select Accept for certificate. It may take a few minutes to activate your ipad. 7. Select Enable Location Services. 8. Winona State University will automatically configure your ipad. Press Next in the top right corner to continue. 9. Enter in your WSU username and password then press Next. 10. If you have an Apple ID already select Sign in with Your Apple ID and continue on to step 19. If you do not have an Apple ID select Create a Free Apple ID and continue on to the next step.
Page 3 of 5 11. Select your birthdate with the rollers. 12. Enter your first and last name. 13. First choose to use your current email address. 14. Try using your winona.edu address. If your WSU email says it s in use, try another email or press back and select Get a free icloud email address. 15. After you re finished entering an unused email address or creating a new icloud email, enter a password and verify it. 16. Select each of your Security Questions and type in an answer to them. Then click Next. 17. Press Next to skip this step. 18. Turn email updates off and press Next. Skip to step 20. 19. Enter in the full email address you used as an Apple ID and your Apple ID password. Press Next to continue. 20. Read Apple s Terms and Conditions and tap Agree In the bottom right corner when finished.
Page 4 of 5 21. Confirm that you agree. It may take a few minutes to set up your Apple ID 22. Select Use icloud. 23. Select Next. 24. Select Not now. Confirm this selection by pressing Continue. 25. If you do not see this screen skip to the next step. If you have setup imessage and Facetime on another idevice you will see this screen. Select which devices people should be able to reach you at. icloud will update its settings. This may take a moment. 26. You will be prompted to input a 4 digit passcode two times. Choose 4 numbers you will remember. 27. Confirm your passcode. 28. Pick one of the options and follow the steps given. 29. If you do not see this screen skip to the next step. If you chose to Approve from Other Device, you will see this screen. Press OK and continue to the next step. 30. This screen may not show up for everyone, if it does press the green slider to turn off registration. Press Next.
Page 5 of 5 31. Press Get Started to continue. 32. On your second home screen. You should see the WSU Apps icon. Press the Icon to bring up the WSU Apps Catalog. 33. This is where you can install free apps from WSU. If you can t see this screen, let a technician know. 34. Press the home button at the bottom of the ipad to return to your home screen. Press AirWatch to open it. 35. Press OK to accept push notifications from AirWatch. If AirWatch is correctly setup it should state your name s ipad and have a green check next to Connectivity Normal. You ve completed ipad setup. When you ve finished setting up your ipad please put it to sleep or turn it off. To Power Off: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button on the top right of the ipad. A red slider will show up on the screen. Slide to the right.
