General Notes Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate (formerly Sage Timberline Office) The name of Sage Timberline Office recently changed to Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate. In this document, the new Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate name is used, but the information also applies to earlier supported versions of Sage Timberline Office. Sage Construction Anywhere Connector Release Compatibility The current release of Sage Construction Anywhere does not require an update of the Sage Construction Anywhere Connector software if your Sage Construction Anywhere Connector version is 1.5 or later. You can find the connector version if you open the Sage Construction Anywhere Connector and look in the bottom left corner for the Build number. The Sage Construction Anywhere Connector software is compatible with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate 9.8.0 Update 8, 12.1 Update 3, or 13.1 or later. For information about those updates, see the Sage Customer Portal. Installing or Updating the Sage Construction Anywhere Connector Existing Installations It is not necessary to remove the existing Sage Construction Anywhere Connector prior to updating the connector software. To perform the update, at your Sage Construction Anywhere Connector server, download the latest connector file from the Back Office Connection page (available from the Administration menu of your Sage Construction Anywhere site). You must be a Site Administrator or have site administration permissions to have access to this page. Click the downloaded file and follow the prompts to complete the update. Your existing connections will remain in place after the update is completed, but you must start the Sage Construction Anywhere Connector software after the update to select the user account. The Sage Construction Anywhere Connector service must run as a user account with local administration rights on the computer where the connector is installed. NOTE: When you select the user account after updating the connector, the user name and password will be filled in for you. However, you must delete the existing password (which appears as asterisks) and reenter it. After you start the connector software, ensure that all of the checkboxes To send and To receive are selected for each connection. General Notes New Installations If you have not yet installed the Sage Construction Anywhere Connector software, the updated connector software is available from your Sage Construction Anywhere website. At the server where you want to install the Sage Construction Anywhere Connector, download the latest connector file from the Back Office Connection page (available from the Administration menu of your Sage Construction Anywhere site). You must be a Site Administrator or have site administration permissions to have access to this page. Click the downloaded file and follow the prompts to complete the update. The Sage Construction Anywhere Connector service must run as a user account with local administration rights on the computer where the connector is installed. For more information, see the Getting Started guide. Update Sequence If you are updating both your back office software (Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate) and your Sage Construction Anywhere Connector software, and you install the connector update prior to updating Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, the Sage Construction Anywhere Connector may not connect properly due to the sequence of the updates. To resolve this issue, after both updates are complete, stop and restart the Sage Construction Anywhere Connector service from Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Services. Windows Server 2003 If you are using Windows Server 2003, you must set up a user account for the Sage Construction Anywhere Connector software to connect successfully to your Sage Construction Anywhere site. For detailed instructions, see "Setting up a user account" in the in-product Help or under "System Settings" in the Getting Started guide. New in This Release There are no significant enhancements in this release of the Sage Construction Anywhere Connector for Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate. This release of the Sage Construction Anywhere Connector includes the ability to connect Sage Construction Anywhere to Sage 100 Contractor 18.3.36 or later. Known Issues Installation and General Information "Unable to open site" or "file couldn't be downloaded" error messages appear when using Internet Explorer to view reports or download the Sage Construction Anywhere Connector software When using Internet Explorer to view reports or download the Sage Construction Anywhere Connector software, you may receive an error stating: "Internet Explorer was unable to open this site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." "[file] couldn't be downloaded." This occurs as a result of a security setting in Internet Explorer. To prevent this issue, do the following: NOTE: Be aware that this change may affect how other websites work with Internet Explorer. 1 In Internet Explorer, under Tools, select Internet Options. 2 Select the Advanced tab. 3 Under Security, do one of the following: p p In Internet Explorer 9, clear the check box for Do not save encrypted pages to disk. In Internet Explorer 10, select the check box for Do not save encrypted pages to disk. If you do not have access to this option, check with your network administrator. 4 Click [OK] to save your changes and close the window. You can also try viewing the site in another supported browser. See "System Requirements" in Help or the Getting Started guide for more information on supported browsers.
