Scheduling Templates may contain several layers of detail records. Use the Template Tab in the Staff and Physician tables to create and edit detail records for a template. Click anywhere to continue Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 1 of 94
This lesson contains a navigation menu located at the top center of each slide to facilitate quick access to individual training scenarios contained in this lesson. Click Anywhere to Continue... Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 2 of 94
To begin, it is assumed that you have opened the PulsePro application and are logged in with the appropriate security and privileges to complete this task. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 3 of 94
Click the Administration Group on the Navigation Pane. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 4 of 94
Click the System Tables icon in the Administration group Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 5 of 94
The modules and system tables window opens. Both the Staff and Physician tables can contain templates. For this demonstration we will work with the physician table. Click the Physician icon. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 6 of 94
The Physician table opens consisting of a toolbar, a status header, and a detail pane. Click the find button and select a physician as discussed in the Navigating PulsePro lessons. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 7 of 94

The window refreshes with the selected physician. Click the Template tab. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 9 of 94
The template tab displays consisting of a template toolbar, the current templates list, and a detail section. For this demonstration we will create detail records for the new standard template we added in the previous lesson. Click the template in the template list. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 10 of 94
The selected template now appears in the status header and we can begin adding new detail records in the Template Record area. In this demonstration we will build 5 of the most common types of records. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 11 of 94
Commitment appointments should be used to block times for irregularly scheduled events, or random, one time events (vacations, one-time meetings, etc.) When you find yourself creating repeated commitments at REGULAR predictable intervals on the schedule, you would probably be better served to build these events into a template as not available for scheduling slots. Click anywhere to continue... Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 12 of 94
In our first example we will build an Out of Office slot from Midnight to office opening at 9:00am. Click the Lookup button next to the appointments field. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 13 of 94
The physician procedure lookup window opens consisting of a toolbar, search criteria, and the list of appointment procedures configured for this physician as discussed in the Appointment Types and Procedures lesson in this module. Double Click the Out of Office appointment type. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 14 of 94
The detail refreshes with the selected appointment type. Type a Reason, typically the same description as the type. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 15 of 94

The Available for Scheduling box should only be checked for appointment types and times that are used for patient appointments. In this case we are building a record when the physician is out of the office so we will uncheck this field. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 17 of 94
We will discuss the exception field later in this lesson. The facility defaults to the physician s facility. Click the lookup button and select the applicable facility for this template record. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 18 of 94

If the system has been configured for Use Slots in the SiteFile as discussed in the Scheduling Templates discussion lesson, the count field may be updated to reflect the number of occurrences for this appointment slot. In this demonstration we are not using this option so we will leave the count defaulted to 1. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 20 of 94
Now we will define which day of the week this appointment slot applies too. In this example we are building an out of office slot for the morning hours so we will check each of our working days. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 21 of 94

You may build slots for specific appointment types such as new patient so that you may search from openings when scheduling using the next available option... Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 32 of 94
Or... you may define them as a generic appointment type and override the type when scheduling the appointment with a specific type. This will just depend on how your physician likes to structure their day. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 33 of 94
We will select a generic appointment type. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 34 of 94
