Your Core Options contain the information needed to turn your Wordpress blog into a moneymaking blog using the WPMage tools. This training assumes you have already followed the steps in the Mage Quick Start Guide to purchase a domain name, a hosting account and have installed CPMage or WPMage on that account. Getting Your Affiliate ID Numbers Your Wpmage system requires that you become an Affiliate of as many of the following merchants as you possibly can: epn (ebay Partner Network) Amazon Commission Junction (CJ) Overstock Clickbank Chitika Google Adsense This manual details specifically how to get the information required for configuring your Core installation of CPMAGE or WPMAGE. (Note: If you are an Adept Mage member you do not have access to some features). WPMAGE License and API Information: Setting Up Your Core Options WPMage Licensed To: is where you will put your email address that you used when you purchased WPMage. WPMage License Key: is the number you received key via email with your purchase of the WPMAGE Suite. You can also login to your member area and get the number. Please copy and paste to avoid errors in typing. Make sure you do not add a space at beginning or end. If you get an Invalid License Key number check to make sure there are not extra spaces. WP API Key: This is used to configure Akisment Anti-Spam and your Wordpress Stats Program. If you have used Wordpress before you most likely already have one. If you have not you can go to Wordpress.com and signup for an account and they will give you a key. If you have more questions there is a detailed tutorial here. Amazon Associates ID: You will need a different ID based on your country of promotion. United States - https://affiliate-program.amazon.com United Kingdom - https://affiliate-program.amazon.co.uk/ Germany - https://partnernet.amazon.de/ France - https://partenaires.amazon.fr/ Japan - https://affiliate.amazon.co.jp/ Canada - https://associates.amazon.ca/ When signing up select Content/Niche Website and pick some household item. Give them a nice looking domain and you should be auto-approved instantly. Your Amazon ID will look something like wpmag-20.
NOTE: If you are doing untargeted websites then you only need to apply for US account. Only apply for the other countries if you make websites specifically targeted to those countries. AWS Key and Secret Key: This is a little complicated, but required if you want to use Amazon. First, go to AWS and register. Then it will drop you on some page, but you will be logged in. Now come back here and click again. And you will get to a page where you will see your account information. Scroll down a bit and you will see a section entitled Access Credentials. You will see your Access Key ID and a link to click to see your Secret Key. Just copy those two numbers exactly. Be careful not to add a space at the beginning or end when pasting as this causes 99% of the errors we receive at the Support Desk. Amazon Locale: Make sure this matches the Country where your Amazon Affiliate Code is from as each country will give you a different code
epn ebay Partner Network ebay Campaign ID: You will need an ebay Partner Network account for this. Getting approved by EPN is very special and difficult. And we have written a whole PDF on how to prepare. Please study how it is done and come back. Once you are approved you will need to go into your account and go to the Campaigns tab. Once you are there just create a new campaign and your Campaign ID should be in the left hand column. It should be a 10 digit number. The same Campaign ID is good for all countries. ebay Site ID: This is the Country where you want your ebay links to come from. ebay Sort Order: Self Explanatory
Google Adsense Adsense Pub-ID: If you don't have an Adsense Account, then get one here. You Pub-ID will be in the upper right hand corner of your account and look something like this: "pub-1234567890." PLEASE NOTE: When inputting your pub-id into the appropriate field make sure you include the prefix: pub- as that is a part of your account publisher ID number. Adsense Channel ID: Optional: Used for Advanced Tracking. Create an Channel here and write in the 10-digit number Note: Adsense Ads will automatically show on your WPMage Sites if you input a Pub ID in the CPMage Core Options. If you do NOT want Adsense showing, then leave these fields blank. Overstock ID: If you are already a member of Commission Junction, then go directly to the Overstock interface and Apply. They will usually accept you if everything looks OK. If you don't get a response, then send a message to Overstock@cj.com along with your CJ Id. This is the number in the upper right hand corner. Be professional and polite and show them a nice looking website and they should accept you. If you are not a member of Commission Junction, it's best to apply directly through the Overstock Link. When asked how you will promote your site, choose Website/Content. In your description indicate that you are a Natural Search Content Website. Also, NEVER say Yes when asked if you will offer incentives to your visitors. This will (in most cases) get you a quick rejection notice. After you have been accepted to both CJ and Overstock you will need to get something called a PID. Take note: This is NOT the number in the upper right hand corner of your account.
I repeat: THIS IS NOT THE NUMBER in the upper right hand corner of your account. OK. Do we have that straight now? Five out of 10 people miss this one. To get your PID you need to go to Accounts > Web Site Settings > Add A New Website. What appears then is the PID, which should be a 6 8 digit number or so. What you need to do looks like this: Commission Junction (CJ) There are 5 steps to getting set up to sell CJ products: 1. Create a Quality Website (if you don t have one already) 2. Join CJ 3. Add Additional Websites (as you create them) to your Account (to get a PID)
4. Apply for vendor affiliations (within CJ) 5. Apply for CJ Developer Key Go to http://cj.com to apply for a publisher affiliate ID. Please Note: To apply for a CJ affiliate ID you must first have a website a site without monetization that has good quality content that you have created. Keep in mind that Commission Junction is looking for a site they believe will be a good site on which their vendors affiliate links will bring them business. Some have asked if they can create the site with CPMage without monetization. You could do this if you will add original content on the frontend (meaning about 10 original posts that are current-dated) and put the article directory articles pulled via Posting Mage on the backend. (If you don t understand this statement, please review the training videos and pdf documents in the member area and it will be clear). How it Works: Your Affiliate Mage Extreme plugin allows you to pull from the Commission Junction API via Keyword to get a virtual mall together on your store. Please follow the directions below on how to configure for the API. It is about the same as the other integrations (Overstock, Amazon, ebay) except it requires a few more steps and a little more attention. Therefore read very carefully as what you need to know is explained here. So let s look at the fields required: Getting the CJ PID In order to list the products of the CJ merchants on your site you will need to add each of your websites to your account. Each time you add a site to your account you will be given a unique number for that site. This is a number assigned to your own website inside your CJ Account. You will need a separate PID for EACH site. If the PID does not match the site where the products are being returned, then you WILL NOT GET RESULTS. Now if you didn't read that last paragraph please do it again YOU NEED A SEPERATE PID FOR EACH SITE OR YOU WILL NOT GET RESULTS. I hope that was clear enough. So, how do you get your PID? It is NOT the number in the upper right hand corner of your CJ Dashboard. (you have to read carefully)
Got it? You need to do that for each site in order to use the CJ API. Applying for Affiliate Programs at CJ You need to apply for the merchants whose products you want to sell. This is very simple. Just click on Get Links and then click on the name of the vendor from the list that is presented. Some merchants will auto approve you and others will want to look at your sites. Some will first want to see that you are doing business with other merchants. Do not take it personally when they decline you. When you start getting business from other vendors they will come asking you to join their program. CJ ADVERTISER ID - optional: Until you know what you are doing, I recommend leaving this blank. If you leave it blank it will pull from all your active merchants. However, if you only want to pull from one or a few of your merchants, then input the Advertiser IDs (AID) separated by commas. You can find the AID in the URL of the merchant info page. Click on the Merchant Name and a window will pop open with the Advertiser detail. Now, scroll all the way over to the right of the URL that's showing at the top of that pop-up window. You will see the AID for that merchant. For example, Buy.com's AID is 1566996.
CJ Developer ID (Webservices API) is REQUIRED Finally, in order for the product to appear on your site you will need the CJ Developer Key. This is really easy to get. Simply go apply at https://api.cj.com/sign_up.cj and sign in with your CJ Account ID. When you copy and paste, make sure there are no spaces before or after the key. Easy! CJ FAQ Q: Help, I am not seeing any products. A: There could be numerous reasons. You are not signed up for any merchants with CJ. (you need to apply for each merchant) Those merchants are not included in the API Your keyword query did not return relevant results (try searching with a simple term as a test) Or even You inputted your CJ Developers Key incorrectly Your PID does not match your site (You need a Website ID for each site) Or even you just created your PID and it needs time to propagate. (give it a few hours) Q: Help, XYZ Merchant did not approve me A: Merchants on CJ all have different criteria for approval. Some will auto-approve, some will auto-approve/deny based on your CJ stats - i.e. how you are performing for other merchants. And some will hand review. If you get denied, you can usually reapply, or send them a professional email to request for reconsideration. ClickBank Go to http://www.clickbank.com/promote_products.html and apply for an affiliate account. You will create an ID (Account Nickname) and this is your Affiliate ID for selling products. Simply input your Clickbank ID and the product will be pulled from CB based on the keywords. Please note: you do not need a website in order to sign up for ClickBank affiliation. Chitika To apply for Chitika, go to http://chitika.com and click on the Publisher tab. Chitika ads that are shown are based on the search engine phrase that is used when the person arrives at your site. Anyone who comes to your site via Google, Yahoo!, etc., will receive an unobtrusive text ad based on the keyword they used to find you. Put your Chitika Client ID in the box provided. The Client ID is your username.
LinkShare Go to http://www.linkshare.com/publishers/join/ to sign up as a LinkShare affiliate. LinkShare has 100 s of programs you can join, however, just as with CJ, not all of them will offer a datafeed. To make sure you apply for those with datafeeds, login to your account and check this link at LS: http://helpcenter.linkshare.com/publisher/questions.php?questionid=762. Apply to those merchants that interest you. When approved, copy the Token ID (See graphic below at bottom) from the Links > Web Services and paste this long alpha/numerical token into the block in your Core options. Make sure you do not accidentally add an extra space at the end of the number.
Yahoo Application ID: This is prefilled with YahooDemo. This seems to work today, though it may or may not tomorrow. If you want your own ID, you can apply at Yahoo Developers. To apply for your own API number: 1. Visit Yahoo! Developer Network 2. Log in using an existing Yahoo! account or register a new one 3. When asked to select a radio button for "Authentication method", select "Generic, No user authentication required" and proceed further 4. Fill out required fields and click to continue 5. Finally, you will see an application ID which is your Yahoo API key 6. It will then give an API key that you paste into the box where "YahooDemo" is currently. Public Blog If you Check this box, your Mage Site will ping and be indexed by the search engines as soon as it is published. Unless you are doing a test, leave this checked.
