The supply air fan output is controlled either by Vortex dampers or by fan speed control. A 2-15 Vdc (12 ma) signal is available to control the fan speed or Vortex dampers. A 1-11 Vdc (2 ma) transmitter signal is available for meter indication of static pressure and/or to reset the central cooling controller to a warmer temperature when the duct static pressure exceeds a set level due to damper close off when no cooling is required. Remote pressure setpoint adjustment and master-slave operation are available. The unit may be used for air volume regulation for air velocities in excess or 1.5" to 6" W.C. velocity pressure. Model PP-8616 is a static pressure transmitter. This transmitter covers a range of 0-6" W.C. of static pressure and provides an output signal of 1-11 Vdc. This signal is used for meter indication of static pressure, normally in inches of water column. In addition, this signal may be used for a reset action, typically rasing the control point of a central cooling controller. This model may also be used for indication in excess or 1.5" to 6" W.C. velocity pressure. Velocity pressure sensors are required. SPECIFICATIONS Dimensions: 120 mm (4-3/4") high, 122 mm (4-7/8") wide, 149 mm (5-7/8") deep. Mounting Position: +15 from horizontal. Safe Ambient limits Temperature: Operating, 40 to 140 F (4 to 60 C). Storage, -40 to 160 F (-40 to 71 C). Pre-Installation Open the carton and visually inspect the device for part numbering and obvious defects before proceeding with the installation. Mounting screws are not provided. Installation All units must be mounted horizontal (within ±15 ) on duct work or a nearby vertical surface. 1/8" I.D. flexible tubing is required per pressure tap. The maximum tube length between the unit and a pressure sensor is 2 ft. Use screws or bolts in the mounting bracket which are appropriate for the surface material. Avoid locations where excessive vibration, moisture, corrosive fumes or vapors are present, or where high radio frequency or electromagnetic interference generating devices are near. The vibration force must not exceed.5g @ 50-250 Hz. See Figure 2 for mounting dimensions. Wiring Make all connections according to job wiring diagrams and in compliance with national and local codes. Use 18 ga. 3 conductor cable (twisted) for connections to the controlled device. Use 18 ga. 3 conductor shielded cable when it is necessary to install the leads in the same conduit with power wiring or when high RFI/EMI generating devices are near. Ground the shield at the controller only on the COM (-) terminal. Refer to wiring diagrams (Figure 3 through 4) for typical connection to power, inputs, and outputs require by the application. Constant Static Pressure Control Using PP-8516 Static Pressure Transmitter PP-8616 for 0-6" W.C. Indication Figure-4 When powered, the duct static pressure is indicated. There are no adjustments. Checkout Procedure Figure-3 Operational Adjustments PP-8516 SPS Knob: Establishes the setpoint of the static pressure-settable 0-100% of the 6" W.C. range. Pressure T.R. Dial: Establishes the pressure throttling range adjustable from 10% to 200% of the 6" W.C. range. Occasionally, an application may require less sensitivity, which requires a resistor added to the Gaux gain pins. This gain adjustment is explained on Page 5. Operating Instructions for PP-8516 with 24 Vac. Turn SPS to the required static pressure to be maintained. When the duct static pressure, as read on the 0-6" W.C. meter (ASP-589-600), equals the SPS setting, the voltage at OP1-COM must be 7.5 Vdc. Adjust the Press TR pot for the least throttling range to achieve stable control. The throttling range determines the static pressure variation above and below the setting of SPS. In the event of PP-8516 does not control or indicate, refer to the checkout procedure. PP-8516 - Refer to Figure 3. Check for 24 Vac (3 VA) supply voltage and measure with a VOM between 24H and 24G terminals on the controller. If the supply voltage is not present, check the power source for problems. Check the 20 (-1.5 +1) Vdc supply by measuring with a VOM between the +20 (+) and COM (-) terminals. If the 20 Vdc is not present or is out of tolerance: The 20 Vdc supply may be overloaded (greater than 50 ma). An external device may be shorting the 20 Vdc supply. If neither of the above, consider the controller defective and replace it. Check the +6.2 +.4 Vdc supply by measuring with a VOM between the +6.2 (+) and COM (-) terminals. If the +6.2 Vdc is not present or is out of tolerance: The 6.2 Vdc supply may be overloaded (greater than 4 ma). External devices may be shorting the 6.2 Vdc supply. If neither or the above, consider the controller defective and replace it. To check output operation, simulate high and low static pressure to obtain high (15 Vdc or higher) or low (2.5 Vdc or less) output according to connections for direct-acting (DA) or reverse-acting (RA) operation. (Factory set for RA.) 4 Copyright 2010 Schneider Electric All Rights Reserved. F-19928-4

PP-8616 Static Pressure Transmitter Note: DIRECT-ACTING means the output as measured between OP1 and COM increases as the sensed static pressure increases. REVERSE-ACTING means the output as measured between OP1 and COM decreases as the sensed static pressure increases. Apply pressure to the high tap and observe performance per the chart data. Direct Acting Reverse Acting Jumper J6 TD Pin NO NC Apply Inches W.C. on High Tap 6 0 6 0 Required OP1-COM Voltage 15 (+) 2 (-) 2 (-) 15 (+) Required IO2-COM Voltage 11 (+) 1 (-) 1 (-) 11 (+) In the event the voltages are not per the chart at the prescribed static pressures, the unit must be replaced. The voltage between 12V jumper and the COM terminal must be 12 +.05 Vdc. The voltage between 7.5 jumper and the COM terminal must be 7.5 +.05 Vdc. The voltage between the hall out pin and the COM terminal must be 3 +.1 Vdc with no pressure and 9 +.5 Vdc at 6" W.C. Refer to Figure 4. Check the power supply. 20 Vdc 20 ma required @ 20 Vdc-COM terminal, or; 24 Vac.5 VA required @ 24 Vac-COM terminals, Check IO2-COM 1-11 Vdc, 0-6" W.C. static pressure. The static pressure sensing tip tube attaches to the high tap. Field Calibration PP-8516 Establish the required static pressure at the high by manually manipulating the vortex damper or fan speed. The static pressure meter terminals IO2 and COM or a test gauge at the high tap may be used. The signal at OP1-COM must be 7.5 Vdc. Rotate SPS knob, if required. Hold the SPS shaft firmly and rotate the pointer CCW until it indicates the percent of the 0-6" static pressure range represented by the required static pressure. Adjust T.R. pressure until stable control is achieved with the minimum T.R. In the event it is necessary to reduce the sensitivity of the control, see page 5 for gain adjustment instructions.
