The Procedures Table stores information about the Current Procedural Terminology, or CPT, procedure codes which are used in your practice. There are some CPT codes that are consistently used as a group. To minimize data entry, a generic code, or Explosion code, can be assigned to the group and used during Charge Entry. When used, all of the CPT codes in the group will automatically be listed on the Charge. Click anywhere to continue Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 1 of 26

REMINDER Access to system tables is restricted to administrative users only. Modification to any system table by unauthorized persons can result in rejected claims, missed payments, or other errors. Information from each system table is used throughout the system. For optimum system operation, ensure that you enter accurate and complete information in all required fields. The Procedure table window is displayed consisting of a toolbar, a status pane and a series of tabs which will be used to define the procedure. The window displays in Find mode with the CPT tab active by default. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 6 of 26

The window refreshes with the fields populated according to the selected record. The Allowable Place of Service tab is active by default. Click the Exploding codes tab to activate it. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 9 of 26

A list pane appears which displays the group of CPT codes in order that will explode in charge entry, a description and multiplier. To add another CPT code to the group, click the Add/Modify button on the tab. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 10 of 26

The Explode CPT Codes window is displayed consisting of two list panes and several action buttons which are used to manage the selections. The left list pane displays a list of all of the CPT codes which are available for selection accompanied by a checkbox. The right pane will display the codes which have been selected for this Exploding code. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 11 of 26

The CPT tab window is refreshed, with your CPT code selections displayed under the Exploding Codes tab. In some cases, it may be necessary that the codes appear in a specific order on a charge. Typically, this is in descending order by price. To re-order the records, select the code to be moved, and then click the blue arrow buttons provided to re-arrange the order of the codes.
