The Procedures Table stores information about the Current Procedural Terminology, or CPT, procedure codes which are used in your practice. There are some CPT codes that are consistently used as a group. To minimize data entry, a generic code, or Explosion code, can be assigned to the group and used during Charge Entry. A list pane appears which displays the group of CPT codes in order that will explode in charge entry, a description and multiplier. To add another CPT code to the group, click the Add/Modify button on the tab. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 10 of 26
The Explode CPT Codes window is displayed consisting of two list panes and several action buttons which are used to manage the selections. The left list pane displays a list of all of the CPT codes which are available for selection accompanied by a checkbox. The CPT code list is extensive; therefore it is recommended that the search feature be used to locate a specific range of codes. Use the criteria fields provided to locate the specific code or range of codes, then click the Find button. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 12 of 26

The Available pane now displays the records which meet the specified criteria. Select one or more of the checkboxes for each applicable place of services where this procedure can be performed. If appropriate, click the Select All button. Copyright 2012 Pulse Systems, Inc. Page 14 of 26

The CPT tab window is refreshed, with your CPT code selections displayed under the Exploding Codes tab. In some cases, it may be necessary that the codes appear in a specific order on a charge. Typically, this is in descending order by price. To re-order the records, select the code to be moved, and then click the blue arrow buttons provided to re-arrange the order of the codes.
