Sustainable Lifestyles and Education (SLE) Programme STEP 1 An informal expert consultation on the Sustainable Lifestyles and Education programme was held in Paris. Vision and mission Proposed vision A world where sustainable lifestyles are desirable, beneficial and accessible for everyone, enabled, supported and encouraged by all sectors of society, including governments, the business sector and civil society. Proposed mission To support the transition towards and mainstreaming of sustainable lifestyles, with the objective of ensuring their positive contribution to addressing global challenges, such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, resource and biodiversity conservation, poverty eradication and social well-being. This will be done through multidisciplinary research and multi-stakeholder cooperation, through the promotion of participative and bottom-up approaches, innovative policies, economic instruments and technologies, awareness-raising, as well as though all forms of education.
Interactions and collaborations Sustainable Lifestyles and Education: a transversal programme, meant to work in close cooperation with all the thematic and sectoral programmes of the 10YFP Developing together a coherent delivery of the 10YFP, exchanging experience and views on a regular basis Synergies with the Consumer Information programme (e.g. research on consumers behaviors and response to sustainability information) Opportunities to apply lifecycle thinking and approaches, as well as consumer behaverial changes in key sectors (SPP, tourism, food, buildings and construction) Collaborating with the GAP for implementation of ESD Responding to regional and national needs Dialogues with regional and national partners (NFPs) and stakeholders through regional multi-stakeholder roundtables and events Aligning work plan and activities with regional strategies and priorities Responding to interest of countries, through their 10YFP NFPs, for developing and implementing projects on SLE
