Introduction: If your vehicle does not have Bluetooth but does have a 12-disc Changer, you should consider adding the C5CDso having an intuitive and easy to use Bluetooth kit is essential to reducing driver distraction. The C5CD-HF kit is compatible with virtually all Bluetooth phones, and sounds great whether using it for mobile conversations, streaming music or listening to CD Changer. In addition, a USB Charging port is included to keep your devices fully charged. One button with built-in microphone conveniently installed on the dash is used to launch Voice Recognition application (Siri, Google Now, Assistant etc.), initiate phone calls, launch applications and listen to Changer. Thanks to the C5CD-HF Kit you can keep factory radio and CD Changer while enjoying Bluetooth features only available on newer cars. Note: Working 12-Disc CD Changer required. If vehicle does not have a CD Changer, purchase our C5-HF See Frequently Asked question at the end of this guide for more details. Installation 1: (To Radio) Remove Radio from dashboard to gain access to connectors. (See FAQ section and the end of this guide for details) or copy and paste link below into browser https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtbwynjtsds 1. Disconnect factory 20-pin plug from Radio (See Fig. 1) Fig. 1 C5 Radio connectors 2. Connect vehicles 20-pin plug from step 1 to 20-pin connector (white) on installation harness (See Fig. 2). Fig. 2 installation harness 3. Connect 20-pin plug (black/gray) from installation harness (See Fig. 2) to 20-pin connector on Radio vacated in step 1 CD Changer Playback Option: 1. Connect thin gold plated 3.5mm plug from install harness (See Fig. 2) to CD* input jack on Module (See Fig. 4) 2. Connect larger 3.5mm plug from installation harness (See Fig. 2) to short pigtail from Module (See Fig. 5). Proceed to step 7 AUX Jack (no Changer playback) Option: This option includes a 3.5mm aux input which can be used to connect and play any portable audio device (e.g. ipod, Mp3 Player, Satellite Radio Kits, and etc.). With this option CD Changer playback is inhibited, however CD Changer must remain connected. Noteworthy: The C5CD-HF either retains CD Changer Playback or Aux input (one or the other, not both) 1. If not already connected, go ahead and connect larger 3.5mm plug from installation harness (See Fig. 2) to short pigtail from module (See Fig. 5).

2. Connect included 3.5mm male-male cable (See Fig. 6 input jack on Module (See Fig. 4), route other end to front of dash or where aux device will reside (within 3 ft.) Fig. 3 (audio cable) 4. Connect (Tap) red wire to ACC (Accessory) supply power in vehicle. Suggestions for 1997-03: Locate 3-pin plug under passenger toe board near BCM (covered in black duct tape) --- wires are orange, yellow and black. Tap the yellow Accessory wire. (See Fig. 7) Fig. 4 Bluetooth module Fig. 7 Note: This 3-pin plug may not be present in 2004 C5. Fig. 5 (color may vary) As alternates we suggest fuse: #11 or #22 of interior fuse box. Other possible fuses highlighted in Red. (See Fig. 8). Please test for engine noise prior to final install. Fig. 6 3.5male to male audio cable

Fig. 8 C5 interior fuse box 5. Connect plug on control/mic (See Fig. 9) to blue jack on Bluetooth Module (See Fig. 4) Control/microphone button custom installed next to traction control button Make sure no ventilation duct is pointed towards the mic. It is best to mount button facing driver Fig. 9 Control button/microphone 6. Consider where to install control/mic button. Keep in mind the control button must be within reach of the driver and facing driver for voice commands and phone dialog (cable is 6ft. long). We recommend completing the rest of the install prior to securing the control/mic button to the dash. Once you decide on a location simply remove tape backing from control /mic button

USB CHARGING PORT Module includes a USB Charging port. Should you decide to use it, we suggest one of 3 connecting options: A. in the dash B. Flush with Support bracket (use this option to mount USB terminal wherever your installation demands without drilling) C. No USB Mount- (default) A. Flush to Dash or Panel (drilling required) 1. p drill bit or equivalent (See Fig. 10) Fig. 12 Module USB port 3. Push USB (See Fig. 13) until it snaps in place and flush with mounting surface (See Fig. 14) Fig. 13 Flush mount USB Terminal Fig. 10 Step drill bit 2. Insert the 3ft. USB cable male terminal (See Fig. 11) through created in step 1 and plug into USB port on Module (See Fig. 11) Fig. 14 Flush mounted to dash 4. Tuck and secure any extra wire from moving parts and test operation Fig. 11 Flush mount 3 ft. USB cable

B. USB with Bracket Mount (No drilling) 1. Locate a flat surface at location of choice within 3.2 ft. of radio and mount USB support bracket (See Fig. 15) to surface using adhesive/tape or screws. Fig. 15 USB mounting bracket Bluetooth Pairing and Connection This process is required the very first time you use the C5CD-HF. After initial pairing, the C5CD-HF will automatically reconnect with the paired phone upon entering the vehicle. 1. 2. The Red LED inside module will begin to flash 3. Access your Smartphone Bluetooth menu settings, and search (scan) for devices. 4. 2. Insert USB male terminal through hole in bracket (See Fig. 16) and connect to USB port on Module (See Fig. 4) Note: Supports multiple phones but connects to only one phone at a time. Fig. 16 3. Push USB head until it snaps in place and flush (See Fig. 17) Warning! Caller ID and text display are not possible in CD Changer mode. Operating Bluetooth device is by pressing the control button and your Voice Recognition application. Use the factory radio volume button to control playback level. Fig. 17 4. Frequent asked questions 1. What is the difference between the C5CD-HF and the C5-HF? The only difference between these two kits is the CD Changer requirement. The C5CD-HF requires the CD changer to work (will not work without it) whereas the C5-HF applies to vehicles without CD Changer. 2. My car does not have a 12-disc Changer. Will the C5CD-HF work without the CD Changer? NO. For the C5CD-HF to work, vehicle must have a functioning 12-disc Changer in trunk/hatch. C5 without CD changer requires our C5-HF 3. Does the C5CD-HF work on all Radios? Works in 1997-04 C5 with AM/FM/CD or AM/FM/Cassette and 12-disc Changer in trunk/hatch. 4. Why is it necessary to run the12v Acc. wire to fuse panel? The module requires 12V accessory and unfortunately there is no such supply on radio harness, therefore we suggest the fuse panel. 5. Can I control my Smartphone music from the radio buttons? NO; you must continue to use Phone built-in controls or the Bluetooth control button and/or voice commands to operate the device. Volume button on factory radio is used to set playback level. 6. How to I reset Module? Press and hold the control button for 5 seconds. 7. I selected the option to retain CD Changer playback but how do I listen to the CD Changer? Press the CD/AUX or TAPE AUX button on Radio to enter Bluetooth Mode (if not already), then press control button 4 times. 8. I selected to have AUX input instead of CD Changer playback; but how do I listed to AUX device? Press the CD/AUX or TAPE/AUX button on Radio to enter Bluetooth Mode (if not already), then press control button 4 times. To return to music stream press and release control button. 9. Where is the best place to install control button/microphone? We found that having the control button/mic mounted higher on the dash worked best, but users can experiment with different location and decide which works best for them. 10. Will the stereo mute when I receive or make a phone call? This system will not mute audio playback unless radio is in Bluetooth mode. If in Radio Mode (AM/FM) the system will not mute and you must switch radio to hear caller on car speakers. 11. My second phone does not pair or find the Bluetooth Module? In order to pair another phone make sure no other phones are connected. Once Bluetooth is turned off, the device will be free and ready for pairing. 12. Will I be able to use the Module USB port to connect and play music from flash drives? No. The USB port is for charging only. 13. How to I remove the radio from dashboard a. Pry out on the ride control switch and disconnect the wiring. b. Unsnap the switch trim and remove (2) 10mm hex-head bolts exposed. c. Open the center console door, remove (4) screws from the inner hinge and remove the door. d. Open the ashtray and remove (1) screw exposed. e. Remove the ashtray and (1) screw exposed. f. Unclip the small grill to the left of the ignition switch and remove (1) screw exposed. Unclip the base of the radio trim bezel and remove or copy and paste link below into browser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtbwynjtsds Disclaimer This product has no affiliation with GM or Apple There are no warranties expressed or implied by purchase of this product When possible, professional installation is recommended Email support@discountcarstereo.com 1995-Mar-19 Discount Car Stereo, Inc.
