MLA Works Cited Page Practice Activity Today you are getting on-the-job training in creating a level 4 MLA Works Cited Page. 1. To begin, you need to open a Google Doc. Do so now. When there, click on the Report MLA template. Once there, delete everything except the following words Works Cited
2. Leave the document open, and open another tab on your browser. You are about to create a perfect works cited page. There will be four citations. One book, one Google, one Google Scholar, and one database. 3. Go to www.easybib.com. Once there, make sure you are on MLA8. Now, click on Book. Type in Orient Express then click Cite It. 4. From the selection, choose the novel written by Graham Greene. Click Cite This. 5. Now click Continue to Final Step. Then scroll down and click Create Citation. 6. Now, copy and paste the citation into your document.
7. Open a new tab, and search for the following on Google: history of Orient Express train. Open the article entitled The True History of the Orient Express History Smithsonian. 8. Copy and Paste the URL into easybib (make sure you are now on website). Then click Cite It, and then click Cite This. 9. Looks like you need to locate the date it was electronically published. Click on Continue to Final Step. Scroll down to the date section. 10. Return to the website and locate the date it was published (not all articles will supply this). Fill this information in to the spot on easybib. Then click Create Citation. *Note, you often have to find the publisher for a website. It is usually at the bottom of the page and usually around the symbol and/or the year. Here is an example:
11. Now, copy and paste the citation into your document. Repeat the same process you did earlier. 12. Now, open a new tab and type in scholar.google.com. 13. Begin a search for conversations with Graham Greene. Focus on the hit that reads [BOOK] Conversations with Graham Greene DO NOT OPEN IT 14. Click on the under the description. This will open a box that includes several citations. Copy and paste the MLA citation into your document. 15. Time for your last source. From my website, click on Support Material. Then click on McKay Library. 16. Click on the Logo for EBSCO (on the left side of the screen). On the next screen click on EBSCOhost Research Databases. 17. Type The Orient Express Train for a search. Open the PDF Full Text of the third result (On the Orient Express).
18. On the right hand side, click on the icon that looks like a piece of paper (Cite). From this list, locate the MLA Citation. Copy and paste this citation into your document. 19. On your Works Cite page, highlight all the citiations. Once highlighted, change font to Times New Roman and size to 12. Still highlighted, click the underline icon twice. Still highlighted, click on the font colour icon. Make text colour black. Click on highlight, then select none
20. Now, rearrange citations so that they are in alphabetical order. 21. Finally, you will need to submit this assignment to turnitin.com. The assignment is entitled Works Cited Practice.
