Security Management Occupations Labor Market Analysis: San Diego County MARCH 2019 Summary To determine labor market demand for occupations that could be trained by a Security Management program, this labor market analysis reviews online job postings data top employers, earnings, job titles, education, and skills. For the purpose of this report, these occupations are referred to as Security Management Occupations. There was an annual average of 161 online postings for Security Management Occupations between 2010 and 2018, indicating a small labor market demand. For comparison, the average occupation in San Diego County has 276 online job postings per year during the same period. These occupations median earnings are higher than the Self-Sufficiency Standard, suggesting that students who successfully complete a program and obtain employment in a related field may earn a living wage. If the region s community colleges were to create a new training program for Security Management Occupations, the training should lead to industry-recognized certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), and Project Management Professional (PMP).

Introduction This report analyzes online job postings for two occupations for which an individual could be trained by a Security Management program in San Diego County. Security Management Occupations are: Security Managers (SOC 1 11-9199.07): Direct an organization's security functions, including physical security and safety of employees, facilities, and assets. May specialize in areas such as physical security, personnel security, and information security. May work in fields such as health care, banking, gaming, security engineering, or manufacturing.
