Dec.2013 Remember to close all programs that are able to communicate before the exam begins! When you are attending exams with your own computer, you must make sure that you close all programs that are able to communicate with others. Even though you are allowed to access the internet during the exam, you are NOT allowed to have any contact with others inside or outside the examination room. If you have an application running that can communicate, it will be considered cheating and you will be reported - even if you have not intentionally opened the application yourself. There are many programs that open automatically when you turn on your computer. Therefore, be sure to close them manually before the exam begins. Below is a list of the most typical programs that start up automatically. There are many more than those shown. If a program can be used to communicate with the outside world, it is considered an attempt at cheating to have it open. 1. Dropbox 2. Skype 3. Facebook 4. E-mail (Hotmail, Gmail, yahoo mail, SDU-mail ect.) 5. icloud 6. Messenger 7. Chat sites 8. Google Drive 9. Ventrilo 10. Teamspeak 11. Any type of cloud drive (Drives online where you can store and share files). As mentioned above, many programs, such as Dropbox, Skype and icloud automatically start up when you turn on your computer. Therefore before the exam you should check whether they are open and if they are shut them down manually before the exam. On a PC you can look in the lower right corner of the screen. Next to the date-sign, you can see a list of open applications. If you do not know how to close them down, here's a quick guide on how to do it: Side 1 af 6
1. Skype Click on Skype Click on Sign Out Side 2 af 6
Click once more on Skype and choose Close. Please note that it may appear like Skype is still running in the Task Bar below. To remove the icon completely do the following: Right-click on the skype icon and choose Quit Skype If you use a danish version it is called Afslut Skype. Side 3 af 6
Press Quit. Now Skype will be completely shut down and will no longer be visible in the Task Bar. In the Danish version of skype choose Afslut. 2. Google Drive If you use Google Drive, you must check if the program is running. You are allowed to have your folders open, but you are not allowed to have the program running and synchronizing. Check for this logo in the right corner of your Task Bar. Side 4 af 6
If the logo is not visible, but you know that the program is running, try clicking on the circled arrow above and the following menu will appear (Danish version): Click on Luk Google Drev (Exit google Drive). The program will close and you can access your folders and documents safely. 3. Dropbox Same procedure as used above with google drive: Click on the Dropbox logo Or on the circled arrow Side 5 af 6
This menu will appear. Click on the circled gear logo (this may vary is you have another version installed) Choose Exit Dropbox. The program will now be shut down and you can access your documents safely.
