3 Open a Google Chrome Browser From your desktop, open Google Chrome. In the address bar, type and press enter.

4 Click Sign In and Enter Your Info. Click Sign In at the top of the page. Enter your username (same as your laptop signin username) Click Next Enter your password (same as your laptop password) Click Sign in. Click Next

5 Review the Terms of Service This MAY come up the first time you access your school account: you will see the Terms of service and some other information. At the bottom of this window, you will be required to type in the twisted letters into the box below and click the blue accept box.

6 Begin Using your You are now logged into your account and can begin to send and receive s. Remember, this account can only be used to exchange s with your teachers. It will not work with any accounts other than smcps.org accounts. There are currently 3 unread s showing in this window.

7 Preparing and Sending an To start an to send to someone else, click Compose. In the New Message window, type the address of the person who is to receive your . On the Subject line, type a few words that tell what the pertains to. Type the body of the and click send.

8 What is a Google Drive? Google Drive is a free service from Google that allows you to store files online and access them anywhere using the cloud. BrainPop Video (Start to 2:00, then 3:07 to end.) Google Drive also gives you access to free web-based applications for creating documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and more. Like Microsoft Word Like Microsoft Excel Like Microsoft PowerPoint

9 How to Access Your Google Drive There are a couple of different ways to access your Google Drive. Probably the simplest is directly from your screen. Click on the icon that looks like this: A window will pop up that looks like this: Click on the Drive icon. A new tab will appear at the top of your screen where you can see your Google Drive.

10 Examining Google Drive Click on the New button on the top left side of the Drive window. Several options will be listed in the drop down menu. The Folder option is used to create a new folder in your Google Drive. This is to help keep files organized. The File Upload option is used to save a file from your computer to your Drive. The Folder Upload option is used to save a folder with files in it from your computer to your Drive.

11 Examining Google Drive (Continued) The Google Docs option is used to create a new document that will automatically be saved to your Drive. The Google Sheets option is used to create a new spreadsheet that will automatically be saved to your Drive. The Google Slides option is used to create a new slideshow that will automatically be saved to your Drive.

12 Creating a Folder From the drop-down menu shown, click on Folder. A small dialog box will come up and enter the name of the folder. Notice how all changes are automatically saved. You will notice the new folder appears in your Google Drive. If you double click on the Media folder that is showing, it will open.

13 Creating a Document From the drop-down menu shown, click on Google Docs. A new document appears. It looks similar to a Word document and is used nearly the same way. Notice how all changes are automatically saved.
