With a bit f practice, yu will be able t play like yu never culd with a cnventinal keybard. The PEREGRINE is fully custmizable t yur unique hand characteristics. Installing the GlveBx Cnfiguratin Sftware Insert the GlveBx installatin CD int yur CD ROM r CD/DVD ROM drive. Fllw the nscreen instructins prvided by the Setup Wizard. Read all warnings and the Terms and Cnditins. On yur PC, when the Setup Wizard windw pens: Click Next t advance the installatin. Click Back t return t the previus screen. Click Cancel t stp the installatin. The fllwing screen allws yu t custmize yur installatin. Figure 4. Sftware Installatin Brwse t the flder where yu want the prgram files t be installed n yur cmputer. Click Disk Cst t view the space available n yur strage disk. Select wh will have access t the GlveBx sftware. Click Everyne r Just me. After the sftware is successfully installed, the GlveBx prgram appears in yur PC s Start menu. This sftware lets yu calibrate The PEREGRINE Glve t yur hand size and remap the Tuch Pints. Nte: The installer als adds a flder n yur cmputer where yu can save varius keymap prfiles that yu can lad nt The PEREGRINE Pd. On yur PC, the path t this flder is Prgram Files > PEREGRINE > GlveBx Cnfiguratin Sftware > Prfiles. 12/18/2009 Page 5 f 20

Using The PEREGRINE Glve 1. Put the Glve nt yur hand and draw the fabric dwn each f the fingers and the thumb until the Glve seats snug n each digit. Clse the cuff strap securely n yur wrist. We strngly recmmend that yu remve any hand jewelry, including watches and rings, t ensure the best Glve fit and t reduce the chance f snagging r damaging the Glve. Manipulate the fabric t remve any twists r fabric bunching. The Stainless Steel Sensrs shuld lie smth alng the fingers and the Thumb Tip Activatr Pad shuld be psitined at the end f the thumb. Please nte that with a new Glve, it is nrmal fr the thumb tip cntact pad t feel a bit stiff. With sme use, the tip will sften and shape mre naturally t yur thumb. We recmmended that during the first few uses f a new Glve, that yu spend a bit f time gently frming the thumb and each f the fingers t the shape f yur hand. A snug, but nt verly tight fit helps increase tuch accuracy. 2. Align the Pd with the magnetic cnnectr seated n the back f the Glve. Make sure the Pd snaps int the cnnectr. The cable shuld run tward the cuff f the Glve. If yu are wearing a large watch, yu may want t remve it s it des nt hit the back f the Pd and disldge it when yu bend yur wrist. If this is yur first time cnnecting The PEREGRINE Glve, the cmputer shuld recgnize it as a new device. The Glve cnnects t any USB 1.1 r USB 2.0 prt n yur cmputer. 4. T cnfigure yur Glve, launch the GlveBx cnfiguratin sftware. Frm yur cmputer s Start menu, select Prgrams > GlveBx t launch the prgram. GlveBx allws yu t calibrate the Tuch Pints, select the keymap and LED pattern, remap keys, r lad prfiles. Instructins fr calibrating yur Glve are fund in Calibrating the Tuch Pints. 5. Once The PEREGRINE is calibrated, we strngly recmmended that yu play a practice game and spend 30 t 60 minutes getting cmfrtable with the feel and respnsiveness f the device. Experiment with varius layuts, calibratins, and Tuch Pint sizes until yu find a setup that is right fr yu. The PEREGRINE was designed t be custmized t yur hand s yu can interact quickly and effectively. Take time t experiment with and ptimize the device t create a mre effective and enjyable gaming experience. 6. When yu are dne with yur gaming sessin, simply discnnect the Pd frm the Glve by pulling gently upward near the base f the Pd t remve it frm the magnetic cnnectr. Remve the Glve frm yur hand and place it in the included strage case. Yu can leave yur Pd plugged int the USB prt s that, the next time yu start a gaming sessin, yu can simply snap the Pd nt the Glve and g. If yu need t leave the cmputer mmentarily while gaming, yu can simply discnnect the Pd frm the Glve and walk away. 12/18/2009 Page 6 f 20

Nte: Tuching metal bjects while wearing The PEREGRINE may cause the device t detect false tuches. Calibrating the Tuch Pints The 18 Tuch Pints and 3 Activatr Pads give yu ver 30 user-prgrammable actins. By simply tuching yur fingertips with yur thumb (r ther activatr pad), yu can cntrl yur games faster than ever befre. Fr the ultimate in accuracy, the GlveBx sftware lets yu further adjust the Glve t yur hand size by redefining the Tuch Pints. Tuch Pints Activatr Pads Figure 6. Glve Frnt Diagram It is necessary t calibrate all Tuch Pints befre yu use The PEREGRINE fr the first time. Later yu may find it helpful t recalibrate specific Tuch Pints t accmmdate hw yu use the Glve. The calibratin prcess lets yu adjust the lcatin f the Tuch Pints n the fingers f the Glve t the places yu tuch mst naturally. The silver traces running up and dwn the fingers f the Glve are the sensrs that pick up yur tuches, and the black circles n the fingers are visual indicatrs f apprximate Tuch Pint lcatins. These circles d nt detect yur tuches, and yu d nt have t calibrate yur Tuch Pints t them. The Tuch Pint size defines the size f the sensing zne fr the Tuch Pints. The larger yur Tuch Pint size, the larger the area f a single Tuch Pint alng the sensrs. Adjusting the Tuch Pint size helps yu prevent unwanted tuches, r it can increase respnsiveness withut requiring pinpint accuracy when yu tuch. The recmmended Tuch Pint Size is between 30 and 40. 12/18/2009 Page 7 f 20

During cnfiguratin, yu can als select yur LED light pattern. The frnt-munted, ultra-bright LED n the Pd is designed t illuminate yur hand t create a unique light shw as yu play. On The LED is always On at a regular brightness. Bright The LED is always On at a higher brightness. Off The LED is always Off. Breath The LED cntinuusly transitins smthly frm Off t On. Laser The LED is always On and will flash brightly as yu hit the Tuch Pints. Calibrating fr the First Time It is necessary t calibrate all Tuch Pints befre yu use The PEREGRINE fr the first time. The calibratin prcess lets yu adjust the lcatin f the Tuch Pints n the fingers f the Glve t the mst natural places yu tuch. 1. Cnnect the Glve t yur cmputer. 2. Make sure GlveBx is running. Refer t Using The PEREGRINE Glve fr help launching GlveBx. 3. When the Glve status at the bttm f the windw displays CONNECTED, click the CALIBRATE tab. Figure 7. GlveBx CALIBRATE Tab 4. Select the Default Keymap frm the Active Keymap drp-dwn list. The Default Keymap cmes with The PEREGRINE. As yu create r dwnlad additinal keymaps, yu can use this drp-dwn list t select anther keymap withut recalibrating the Tuch Pints. 12/18/2009 Page 8 f 20

5. As shwn n the screen in Figure 7, click Run Full Test t calibrate the entire Glve fr the first time. The GlveBx sftware autmatically highlights the Tuch Pints yu are t calibrate. Figure 8. Run Full Test Screen 6. Tuch yur glved thumb t the Tuch Pint indicated by the blue highlight in the windw. The instructins n the tab walk yu thrugh the calibratin steps. Figure 9. Activatr Pad t Tuch Pint Activatr Pads are lcated n the tip and center f the thumb and n the palm. When yu calibrate a Tuch Pint with an Activatr Pad (preferably the Thumb Tip), it is autmatically calibrated fr all Activatr Pads. Yu d nt need t calibrate each Tuch Pint t each Activatr Pad. As well, the Activatr Pads themselves d nt need t be calibrated. We recmmend that yu use the Thumb Tip t calibrate the Glve. Yu can click Cancel t stp and save the cnfiguratin at any time. When calibrating the Glve fr the first time, be sure t calibrate every Tuch Pint. If yu d nt calibrate a Tuch Pint, please repeat the calibratin prcess. Once yu are dne calibrating the entire Glve, it is strngly recmmended that yu test yur Tuch Pints by clicking Test Map n the REMAP tab. Tuch yur fingers, and make sure the Glve respnds t yur tuches. 7. Select the LED Mde frm the drp-dwn list. This mde determines the Pd s LED light pattern. Yu can change the LED mde at any time even if yu are nt cnfiguring the Glve. 12/18/2009 Page 9 f 20

8. Use the slide bar t select the Tuch Pint Size. We recmmend a setting between 30 and 40 t start. As yu becme mre experienced with yur Glve, yu may want t experiment with different settings t get the feel yu want. Calibrating Specific Tuch Pints After using The PEREGRINE fr a time, yu may find it helpful t recalibrate specific Tuch Pints t accmmdate hw yu use the Glve. 1. Cnnect the Glve t yur cmputer. 2. Make sure GlveBx is running. Refer t Using The PEREGRINE Glve fr help launching GlveBx. 3. When the Glve is CONNECTED, click the CALIBRATE tab. 4. Click Calibrate Pad. Figure 10. Calibrate Pad Screen 5. On the Glve diagram, use yur muse t pint and click n the Tuch Pint yu want t calibrate. The Tuch Pint highlights in blue. Figure 11. Tuch Pint Selectin 6. Tuch the Thumb Tip Activatr Pad t the Tuch Pint indicated by the blue highlight in the windw. When tuched with the Activatr Pad, the Tuch Pint turns green. 7. Click Next. 8. Pint, click, tuch with yur Thumb Tip Activatr Pad, and click Next fr each Tuch Pint that yu want t calibrate. 12/18/2009 Page 10 f 20

9. If required, yu can use the slide bar t select the Tuch Pint Size. The larger yur Tuch Pint Size, the larger the sensing area f a single Tuch Pint alng the wire. Custmizing Keymaps Keymaps determine hw traditinal keybard strkes translate int the tuches f The PEREGRINE. When yu calibrated the Glve, yu determined where the hits were registered. The keymaps determine which keystrkes are generated frm specific Tuch Pints. The Pd itself stres the Default Keymap and up t 5 additinal keymaps that yu select n the GlveBx sftware CALIBRATE tab. At any time, additinal keymap prfiles can be created, saved n yur cmputer, and laded int ne f the 5 custm keymaps n the Pd. Remapping Keys Yu can change the keystrke the tuch generates fr any f the custmized keymaps frm the REMAP tab. The Default Keymap cannt be changed. 1. Cnnect the Glve t yur cmputer. 2. Make sure GlveBx is running. Refer t Using The PEREGRINE Glve fr help launching GlveBx. 3. When the Glve is CONNECTED, click the REMAP tab. 4. Select ne f the keymaps, 1 thrugh 5, frm the Keymap drp-dwn list n the right side f the screen. 5. Select the Thumb Tip, Thumb Fat, r Palm Activatr Pad. Each Activatr Pad has a unique Tuch Pint layut assciated with it. Fr example, yu can make yur pinter fingertip Tuch Pint generate an F when the Thumb Tip Activatr Pad tuches it. That same pinter fingertip Tuch Pint can generate a T when yur Thumb Fat Activatr Pad tuches it. It s all up t yu it s ttally custmizable. Figure 12. GlveBx REMAP Tab 6. Click Clear t remve the stred key frm the selected keymap Tuch Pint. This will nly affect the current Tuch Pint, and it will nt remve previusly set keys. Click Remap t change the keystrke that the tuch replaces. On the keybard, type the new key t enter it int the pp-up windw. Click OK t save the key; click Clse t stp the remapping. Figure 13. Enter Keystrke Pp-Up Windw Saving a Keymap as a Prfile Yu may find that yu are cllecting a variety f keymaps fr a variety f games. Yu can stre specific keymaps n yur cmputer and lad them int the Pd when yu are ready t use them. Prfiles can be saved in the flder created during the GlveBx installatin: Prgram Files > PEREGRINE > GlveBx Cnfiguratin Sftware > Prfiles. 1. Make sure GlveBx is running. Refer t Using The PEREGRINE Glve fr help launching GlveBx. Nte: The Glve des nt have t be cnnected t yur cmputer t save prfiles. 2. Click the REMAP tab. 3. Select a keymap frm the Keymap drp-dwn list. Figure 15. Save As Prfile 4. Click Save As Prfile t save the selected keymap as a prfile. Saving a prfile transfers all keys under the selected keymap t a new prfile and pens the PROFILES tab. 12/18/2009 Page 12 f 20

Nte: Yu can save prfiles t any lcatin n yur cmputer. In rder t lad prfiles nt the Pd, yu must mve them t the default Prfiles flder created when yu installed the GlveBx sftware. Lading a Prfile Ont the Pd The Pd can stre up t 5 custm keymaps. Yu lad additinal prfiles nt the Pd by verwriting Keymaps 1 thrugh 5. 1. Cnnect the Glve t yur cmputer. 2. Make sure GlveBx is running. 4. Select a prfile t lad frm the Prfile drp-dwn list. This drp-dwn list shws the files available in the default Prfiles flder created at installatin. Only prfiles in this flder can be laded nt the Pd. Click Add t cpy a prfile stred in anther lcatin n yur cmputer t this default flder. 5. Click Lad. 6. In the dialg bx, select the keymap t verwrite with the new prfile, and click OK. Nte: The Default Keymap cannt be verwritten. Using the OPTIONS Tab The OPTIONS tab lets yu check fr updates t the sftware and firmware, find prduct versin and supprt infrmatin, and define the tab that pens first when yu launch GlveBx. 1. Make sure GlveBx is running. Refer t Using The PEREGRINE Glve fr help launching GlveBx. Nte: The Glve des nt have t be cnnected t yur cmputer t use the features n the OPTIONS tab. Figure 17. After making sure t remve the Pd assembly s that it des nt get wet, yu can clean the Glve by fllwing the washing instructins n the fabric care label n the Glve. Yu may gently hand wash the Glve with mild sap and warm water fllwed by several rinses in clear warm water t cmpletely remve all sap residue. Use a sft twel t dry the cntact area and then blt the Glve dry between tw sft twels t remve excess misture. Allw the Glve t air dry cmpletely befre reattaching the Pd. The plastic Pd enclsure and Replaceable Faceplate may be cleaned using a very sft clth, lightly mistened with a husehld windw cleaning slutin.
