A. OUT OF THE BOX CONTENT: 1. Ropot automated self-watering planter 2. 2 x 9V battery 3. 1 AA battery (already installed for controller default watering memory settings) 4. User manual B. INSTALL ROPOT PLANTER 1. Insert 2 x 9V batteries in battery holders inside the battery & controller box (on the back side of the planter) 2. Fill planter with planting soil up to the bottom of the sprinkler nozzles Soil maximum level 3. Add your plant into the planter upper container 4. Fill planter reservoir with water through the funnel (top back right side). Reservoir total capacity is 3.75 gal for ROPOT 21 and 1.75 gal for ROPOT 17. 2
NOTE: When there is no water in the reservoir, red LED (light) will start blinking. This indicates it is time to refill planter reservoir. When the reservoir is filled to the maximum capacity, blue LED (light) starts blinking. During regular functioning no LED should be blinking. NOTE: Keep the planter on to a vertical position all the time! 5. Watering frequency and quantity setup You can keep our factory default watering setup (recommended): includes 2 watering sessions per week (Wed and Sat, 12 p.m.) at 16 ounces per watering (30 seconds). In this case all you have to do is SET LOCAL TIME AND DAY by following this procedure: Press and hold + (plus) or - (minus) button for 3 seconds The HOUR indicator will begin to flash. Press + or - to adjust the hour. Release the button when desired hour is reached. 6 seconds later the MINUTE indicator will flash. Press + or - to adjust the minute. Release the button when desired minute is reached. 6 seconds later the DAY indicator will flash. Press + or - to adjust the day. Release the button when desired day is reached. Wait 6 seconds. Time is set. Press TEST button twice. Wait 5 seconds. The watering starts for 30 seconds (16 oz.). When the watering is complete perform the test again. Press TEST button twice. Wait 5 seconds. The watering starts for 30 seconds (16 oz). o If you choose to customize your own watering frequency and quantity perform the following steps: 1. SET LOCAL TIME AND DAY: Press and hold + or - button for 3 seconds The HOUR indicator will begin to flash. Press + or - to adjust the hour. Release the button when desired hour is reached. 6 seconds later the MINUTE indicator will flash. Press + or - to adjust the minute. Release the button when desired minute is reached. 6 seconds later the DAY indicator will flash. Press + or - to adjust the day. Release the button when desired day is reached. Wait 6 seconds. Time is set. 2. SET WATERING TIME (FREQUENCY) Press PROG button. The first program indicator digit will begin to flash in the bottom left corner of the LCD display. Press PROG button again to navigate through the 1 st program setting. The hour indicator will begin to flash. Press + or - to adjust hour. Press PROG to set the hour and advance to the minute indicator. Press + or - to adjust the minute. Press PROG to set the minute and advance to the DAY indicator. Press + or -" to advance through the day selections. NOTE: You are allowed to select a combination of days also. Your days selection will be shown at the top of LCD display for that cycle. Stop when you reach your desired combination. The timer will return to the current time and day display. 3
3. SETTING WATERING QUANTITY Press TEST button then watering rate duration indicator is displayed. Press + or - to adjust duration time (1-30 seconds) The timer will return to current time and display after approximately 30 seconds. See the chart below showing water quantities according to watering duration. Watering time Water Quantity (Volume) 10 seconds 6 oz. 15 seconds 10 oz. 20 seconds 12 oz. 25 seconds 14 oz. 30 seconds 16 oz. NOTE: You can set up multiple sessions (see below): If your plant requires more than 16 oz. of water per session, AND/OR If you want to customize the days you need to water the plant 4. SETTING WATERING TIMES (FOR MULTIPLE WATERINGS) Press PROG button. The first program indicator digit will begin to flash in the bottom left corner of the LCD display. Press + to navigate to the next cycle (up to 16), or - to navigate to the previous program cycle. Press PROG to set the hour and advance to the minute indicator. Press + or - to adjust the minute. Press PROG to set the minute and advance to the DAY indicator. Press + or - to advance through the day selections. When all desired programs have been set just wait 6 seconds and timer will return to current time and day display 4
5. CANCEL PROGRAM WATERING TIME (if you want to delete/cancel one or more than one of your watering cycle(s)) Press PROG button. Press + or - to navigate to desired program cycle you want to cancel. Press and hold PROG button until time display clears hour and minutes (3 seconds). WAIT! The timer will return to current time and day display after approximately 20 seconds. 6. TIMER RESET (if you want to delete/cancel all your watering cycles and local time and day settings) Press yellow recessed R button. The current clock setting will reset to 12:00 A.M. Monday, and all program cycle will be reset as well. MAINTENANCE GUIDE: Replace Timer AA battery (1.5 V) if the display digits are not visible Replace Planter 2 x 9V batteries when the RED LED indicates you have to refill the water reservoir (approximatively twice a year) Clean up the water reservoir every 2 years (if necessary): 1. Lift up interior pot and remove water pump from the assembly. Set aside the interior pot (containing soil and plant) and cleanup interior reservoir. 2. Place back the pump and drop the interior pot assembly into the original position. 5
