Welcome to Trimble Business Center Welcome to Trimble Business Center Trimble Business Center office software is ideal for working with all types of geospatial data. The software provides numerous innovative and powerful features, and it is easy to learn and use. Installing or updating For installation or update instructions, see the appropriate bullet below. Notes: - Trimble Business Center (TBC) licensing information is contained in a Sentinel HASP hardware or software key connected to or installed on your computer. If no key has been connected or installed, TBC allows you to import and view data only. It does not allow you to use any licensed features. To view your license after installation is complete, select View License Manager on the Start Page. For a description of the features available in each licensed configuration, see "Licensed Features" in the online Help. - After installation, be sure to select Check for Updates on the Start Page to ensure you have the latest updates for Trimble Business Center. New users installing TBC to use with a single-user license: a. Before you insert the new Sentinel HASP hardware key you received in your installation package, install TBC from the TBC installation package downloaded from the Trimble website. b. Before running TBC for the first time, insert the new Sentinel HASP hardware key into an available USB port on your computer. All licensed features will be available when you run TBC. Your 1-year warranty begins the first time you open the software. Existing users installing this version of TBC: Install TBC from the installation package downloaded from the Trimble website. Important Note! This version is available to users whose current warranty expiration date is 1 November 2014 or later. If your warranty expires prior to this date and you proceed with the installation, licensed features will not be available. Contact your distributor to purchase a warranty extension. On the Start page, select View License Manager to verify your warranty expiration date. New users installing TBC to use with a multi-user license installed on a network: a. Ensure the following: Your computer can connect to the network server where the Sentinel HASP multi-user network license is installed. There are no Sentinel HASP hardware keys connected to your computer. b. Install TBC from the TBC installation package downloaded from the Trimble website. c. Run TBC. Release Notes 2

New features The software automatically searches the network for a Sentinel HASP network key. If a Sentinel HASP network key is found and the multi-user license limit has not been exceeded, the license is available for use and all licensed features in TBC are available. If a Sentinel HASP network key is not found or the multi-user license limit has been exceeded, licensed features are not available and an appropriate message is displayed when you attempt to use them. Optionally, you can verify whether or not you have access to the multi-user license by selecting View License Manager on the Start Page. For more information on using the License Manager dialog, press F1 with the dialog open. Note that each time you run TBC, the software will need to automatically access the multi-user license installed on the network. Note to Administrators: For instructions on installing a Sentinel HASP network key (multi-user license) and viewing and managing license information, select Network Licensing Read Me on the Tools menu on the TBC Installation DVD. New features Following are the new features included in the various licensing options for this version of Trimble Business Center. See "Licensed Features" in the online Help to help determine which of these new features are available with your license. Trimble Vision Trimble V10 adjustment without position - Adjust photo stations created from the Trimble V10 without the use of additional GNSS or optical sensors. Collect data with null coordinate information and adjust the photo stations by using the known coordinates (targets) and by measuring the size/length of known objects to resolve for the scale information. With known scale information, Trimble Business Center is able to perform the adjustment, allowing you to make accurate relative measurements from the V10 data. (See Adjust Terrestrial Photo Stations in the help.) CAD objects creation and direct measurements on station views - Use CAD tools to quickly create linework and make measurements directly on planar surfaces (like a façade) in a Station View image. This provides a significant savings in time as you no longer have to extract every position using photo point measurements. (See Create Linework and Make Measurements on a Station View in the help.) Export Trimble Vision images to Trimble SketchUp - Export Trimble Vision images along with guide points to enable quick and easy modeling in SketchUp. Generate a full 3D model in an extremely short timeframe after data collection, leveraging new capabilities in SketchUp 2015. (See Export SketchUp Files (.skp) in the help.) Compass readings no longer influence the bundle adjustment - Compass readings no longer influence the photo station bundle adjustment. This allows you to discard bad compass measurements without discarding tilt measurements, resulting in significant improvements in data adjustment when the Trimble V10 stations are collected along the same line/distance from the object of interest. Release Notes 3

New features General survey Set elevations below zero to positive/mirror elevations - For marine applications, specify that elevations below sea level be displayed, reported, and plotted as positive numbers. (See Unit Settings in the help.) Export GNSS raw data to RINEX - Export GNSS raw data file types (T01, T01, DAT, Ashteck Quark, and RINEX) into the RINEX file format (.rnx) so they can be processed, with the same configuration, using another post-processing software. (See Export RINEX (.rnx) in the help.) CAD and drafting Corridors Create labeled contours - Create surface contour lines that include elevation labels and colors. You can then adjust the positions of the contour labels for optimal plotting. (See Surface Create Contours at an Interval in the help.) Label contours by crossing - Label selected contour lines with their elevations where they cross a line indicated with a From and To point. (See Label Contours by Crossing in the help.) Create vertical arcs in linestrings - When you are create and edit vertical control points along a linestring, you can now select Arc as the type of vertical curve at a point, which allows you to define the vertical curve by specifying a radius. (See Vertical Linestring Options in the help.) Plot gridded plan sheets using Dynaview Boundary Collections Create and plot an array of plan sheets with a selected grid style. (See Create and Edit a Boundary Set and Create and Edit a Sheet Set in the help.) Manage grid styles Create and edit a variety of grid styles to control the labeling and plotting of dynaviews on plan grid sheets. (See Manage Grid Styles in the help.) Create and use hatching Create a hatch pattern and apply it to an area on a sheet view to identify the area as having a specific material on screen and on plotted sheets. (See Create and Apply Hatching in the help.) Navigate between stations along an alignment Move to important stations based on any of the following. (See Move between Important Stations in the help.) A regular interval HAL and VAL points Stored cross-sections Corridor templates Stations that you specify for cross-section plotting Reuse corridor templates - Save any corridor template as an XML file so that you or a colleague can reuse it by importing it into another project, speeding up your design work. Saved templates retain no connections to their previously referenced corridors; they simply contain reusable instructions. (See Reuse a Corridor Template in the help.) Release Notes 4

New features Copy and paste from Microsoft Excel Copy from an Excel spreadsheet and paste into a station slope or station elevation table when you create a corridor template. This allows you to create slope instructions quickly if you already have the values in a spreadsheet. Use negative sideslopes In Project Settings, you can opt to honor negative cut and fill slopes (specified with a minus sign) when entering tie slopes in corridor template instructions. (See Computation Settings > Corridor in the help.) System support Convert to RINEX utility included in the Installation package - Click a link in Trimble Business Center to directly launch the Convert to RINEX utility, which you can use to convert Trimble GNSS measurement files in DAT, T00, T01, T02, RT17, RT27. or.cap format to RINEX version 2.10, 2.11 or 3.02 formats. (See Convert to RINEX Utility in the help.) Export Trimble Access pipeline data - Export pipeline attributes collected with the Trimble Access Pipeline software module from TBC to Excel or a.csv file. xfill-rtx support - Collect the xfill-rtx data in the field and quickly review the position information in the office. Order Marketplace data without coordinate system - You can now select the region of interest to order data sets from InSphere Marketplace without having to specify a global coordinate system for your project. (See InSphere Data Marketplace in the help.) Exchange files with Trimble Connect Set up Trimble Connect as an external service so you can exchange BIM and other design files with Business Center - HCE. Trimble Connect (formerly GTeam) is a system for architecture, engineering, and construction teams to collaborate and share 3D and project information to save time, reduce change orders, and reach consensus faster. Machine Control Launch VisionLink from within Trimble Business Center - Configure your credentials for one or more accounts so you can quickly launch VisionLink in a browser to view the status of a job. (See Create a VisionLink Project in the help.) Create a VisionLink Project - Create a VisionLink project for your connected site directly from within Trimble Business Center so you do not have to switch between products. (See Create a VisionLink Project in the help.) Publish surfaces and linework to VisionLink - Send design and surveyed surfaces and linework representing existing roads, rivers, and other linear features to VisionLink so you can view them in relation to your mass haul plans. (See Publish to VisionLink in the help.) Ease-of-Use Float Plan and 3D Views Undock the Plan View and the 3D View to move them to a second monitor to increase your working space. (See Float and Unfloat Views in the help.) Release Notes 5

Resolved issues Use enhanced functions for External Services Create one or more account profiles for any service (such as the Connected Community or Bentley ProjectWise) to save time entering your user name, password, etc. when you login. You can easily set a default profile for each service and stay logged in to multiple services. (See External Service Options in the help.) Command line shortcuts - There are three shortcuts when using the Command line: If you enter part of a command name followed by a question mark (?), all commands that include the name will appear in the Recent Commands List. For example, if you type image? on the Command line and press [Enter], these results will appear: PlaceImage ImageView ImageBoundaries GeoReferenceImage CaptureImage Then if you press the up or down arrow, the next command in the Recent Commands List will be displayed on the Command Line. If you press [Shift] + the up or down arrow, the next command in the All Commands list of will be displayed on the Command Line. Resolved issues The following issues have been resolved in this version of Trimble Business Center: When measuring a photo point, the cross-hairs disappear randomly when zooming in very close. Points that are created using the alignment offset (computed method) in Trimble Access are not being imported into Trimble Business Center. Miscellaneous notes VCE compatibility - You cannot open a VCE project file created with this new version of TBC in an older version of TBC. Translated Help and Tutorials - If you install TBC in a language other than English, you may see some topics in the online Help and tutorials in English rather than the installed language. This is the result of translated versions of the topics not being ready at the time TBC was packaged for delivery. Select File > Help > Check for Updates to determine if newer, fully-translated versions of the Help or tutorials are available for download. Tutorials PDF - If you click the Tutorials link on the Start page and receive a message indicating the required Adobe Flash Player is not installed on your computer, the link to the installation page contained in the message may not work correctly. Go to http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-acrobat-flash-playerdownload.html to download and install the Flash Player. Release Notes 6

System requirements Windows 8 users Some components in TBC require Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 to operate. If the.net Framework 3.5 is not installed, you are prompted to install it when you install TBC. If your computer is connected to a domain that does not allow you to directly connect to Windows Updates on the Internet to enable and install.net 3.5, you may need to change your group policy settings. See your system administrator for assistance. For more information, see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn482065.aspx Windows XP users Some components in TBC require Microsoft.NET Framework 4.5, which is not supported by the Windows XP operating system. To run this version of TBC, you must install a different operating system. See "System requirements" for complete operating system requirements. Known issue with KMZ panoramas - KMZ (.kmz) panorama files created in TBC do not display in Google Earth version 7.0 and above. For them to display correctly, it is recommended that you use version 6.2 or earlier. TabletSync transfers - If you use TabletSync to transfer large files (for example, panoramas) into TBC, it can take a long time for the upload to complete. As an alternative, you can shorten the transfer time by copying the files from the tablet onto a USB memory stick and copying the files from the stick into TBC. TSPX file format - TBC no longer supports the creation of TSPX (.tspx) files used to open TBC project data in Trimble RealWorks. As a workaround, you can export whole point clouds (not scans) to an.e57 or.las file format, which can be imported into RealWorks. You can export other types of data to an appropriate format (for example, points to.jxl, linework to.dxf, and images to.jpg) that also can be imported into RealWorks. 3D PDF The Create 3D PDF command causes texturized surfaces (that is, a surface to which a texture image has been added) to display as black in the PDF Reader when the surface shading is set to something other than by elevation. To avoid this problem, select Shading: by elevation in the surface Properties pane for any texturized surface before creating a 3D PDF. System requirements Operating system: Processor: Random access memory (RAM): Hard disk space available: Graphics: Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit version) Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit version with Service Pack 1) Dual-core 1.80 GHz or better recommended 2 GB or more recommended 5 GB or more recommended DirectX 9 (or higher) compatible graphics card with 512 MB memory or more Note: To display point cloud data (if applicable), your graphics card must support OpenGL version 3.2 or newer.
