Getting Started with Outlook Web App (OWA) Office 365 User Guide When first accessing your new Office 365 account, or if you are having any issues with your regular email client, use the below directions for connecting directly to the new Webmail interface. For remote access to your email using a web browser, use OWA. 1. Open a Web Browser Navigate to https://office365.ucalgary.ca 2. Login (IMPORTANT) Enter your email address (Eg. ballen@ucalgary.ca, barry.allen@ucalgary.ca, ballen1@ucalgary.ca - whichever format your email address is in) and your email password. Click Sign In. 3. Set your default login to Mail (Recommended) Office 365 defaults to the Home tab for each login. To bypass the Home tab and go straight to your email follow these steps. 3.1. Click Settings (gear icon). 3.2. Click Office 365 Settings. 3.3. Click Start Page and from the dropdown menu select Mail. 3.4. Click Save. 4. Go to the Mail App From the Home landing page, click the Mail App. During first time login to Mail, you will be asked for your Language and Time zone preferences. Set Up Primary Email on Outlook for Windows Office 365 User Guide The following document contains instructions for adding a primary University of Calgary Office 365 email profile to a Microsoft Windows based computer running Microsoft Outlook. These instructions can be used to create your email profile at home, or on another computer. If your primary account was not transitioned at this time, please follow the directions below for Add a Secondary Email Account to Outlook Before you begin, make sure your computer is running Outlook (Versions 2010, 2013 or 2016). These steps are compatible with Windows 7 computers or later. Create a New Email Profile 1. Close all Outlook windows. 2. To go to the Control Panel, follow these steps: i. Open the Start Menu. ii. In Search Programs and Files, type Control Panel. iii. Click Control Panel. These steps are universal for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. 3. Change the view of the control panel to either Large or Small icons, 4. Click Mail (32-bit) from the Control Panel window. 5. Click the Show Profiles button 2 Page
6. In the Mail window, click the Add button (you do not need to delete or change any existing profiles) 7. Give the new profile a Name (eg. U of C Office 365) 8. Enter your E-Mail Account information. This may auto-populate from Windows login, but you may need to correct it for your username@ucalgary.ca email address. Click Next. 3 Page
9. Windows will use a process called Autodiscover to find your server settings. This may take up to a few minutes. 10. When prompted by Windows Security, enter the username and password for your email. IMPORTANT: Your username is your username@ucalgary.ca email address. Check the Remember my credentials checkbox and click OK. 4 Page
11. When configuration is complete, click Finish. 12. (Optional) If this is the only email profile you use on the computer, you can set Outlook to automatically open to this account. Set the Always use this profile dropdown to the Office 365 account. Click Apply, then OK. 13. Close the Control Panel and open Outlook. 5 Page
Add a Secondary Email Account to Outlook Office 365 User Guide The following document contains instructions for adding any additional secondary University of Calgary Office 365 email accounts to Microsoft Outlook. Important: If your primary account has not yet been set up in Outlook, please follow the directions above for Set Up Primary Email on Outlook for Windows Before you begin, make sure your computer is running Outlook (Versions 2010, 2013 or 2016). These steps are compatible with Windows 7 computers or later. Add a New Email Account 14. Launch Outlook. Starting from the top left corner of Outlook, follow these steps: iv. Click on the File Tab. v. Under Account Information, click Account Settings then Account Settings... 6 Page
15. If your secondary account has been setup in outlook before the migration, you will want to remove the old account. You can identify it by the Name and the Type will say IMAP/SMTP next to it. Click the old secondary Account, then click Remove. 16. You will be prompted with the following message Click Yes, then Click New 7 Page

19. If prompted by Windows Security, enter the username and password for the secondary email. IMPORTANT: The username is the full username@ucalgary.ca email address.
