With infrared sensors and a cloud-based data platform, the Workplace Advisor system empowers stakeholders to make informed real estate decisions. An easy-to-use dashboard collects and analyzes real-time data, while also aggregating information about space over time. The Steelcase Workplace Advisor system is made up of the following components: Wireless Sensors: installed in the workspace, work together to detect motion with passive infrared (PIR). Each sensor securely sends occupancy information wirelessly to a gateway via 802.15.4 (2.4 GHz). Gateways: send secure sensor data across the internet to the Steelcase platform. Steelcase Platform: stores the data, where it is analyzed by algorithms to determine both real-time occupancy and historical utilization of a space. Workplace Advisor Dashboard: requires a secure login to analyze occupancy data that has been collected and stored. Device Manager: accessed through the Dashboard, provides the ability to manage sensors and gateways and monitor the overall health of the Steelcase Workplace Advisor system. Service Agreement: Auto-renewable agreement allows the customer access to Workplace Advisor. Implementation Journey FULFILLED BY STEELCASE COMPLETED BY CUSTOMER Step 1: Establish the installation team Team includes the customer facility manager, IT point of contact (POC) and project manager, and the dealer sales and project managers. Discuss individual responsibilities. Step 2: Gather information Document the scale of the entire project, including locations and spaces and their official names; include ceiling heights and conditions, and wall conditions of each space. Step 3: Plan and specify the project Using SmartTools, place sensors and gateways in each location and space according to the design guidelines for Workplace Advisor. Step 4: Coordinate the gateway locations Dealer and customer IT POC confirm the exact quantity and location of each gateway. Customer IT provides network connections at each gateway location. To maximize network security, install gateways only in a private, protected subnet for IoT devices. Step 5: Install gateways Dealer sends gateways to the customer IT POC for installation. Once all gateways are installed and each gateway status reads online in the Device Manager website, customer IT updates the gateway name and location in the website to indicate where the gateways have been installed. Customer confirms gateway installation is complete. Step 6: Confirm gateways are online Dealer project manager confirms all gateways are online before sensor installation is scheduled. Step 7: Install sensors Dealer installs sensors and validates the system while on-site. Dealer confirms: All sensors are online All sensors detect occupancy correctly and accurate data is being collected Completion for each space and signs off on installation Step 8: Invite additional users to Workplace Advisor Customer IT uses the Device Manager to grant employees access to the Workplace Advisor Dashboard. Step 9: Maintain Workplace Advisor Customer IT uses the Device Manager to maintain and monitor the Workplace Advisor system. 4
