There are three fuses mounted on the RS422 Transceiver Board. Power Supply The TopFlow Multiphase Meter can be supplied with 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz.. An internal power supply is used to distribute all necessary voltages to the internal parts of the Multiphase Flow Meter. Optionally the meter can be supplied as a 24 Vdc unit and power is distributed from the customer supplied 24 Vdc supply. (The option of AC or DC power is specified at time of order.) Computer Interface Board The Computer Interface Board prepares the signals received from the field electronics and transmitters for the data acquisition boards in the computer. The computer interface board includes the power distribution of 24V, 12V and 5V for the field electronics and transmitters. An RS232 port is available on the CIB for serial communication between the PC and the field electronics. This serial communications is used for diagnostics and settings of field electronics. Industrial Computer The computer processes all signals coming from the meter and calculates the flow rates of oil, water and gas. The computer prepares these measurements for the TopFlow User Interface as well as the customer s data acquisition system. Issue/Rev. 0.1 (5/05) MNMP003 Page 7

Section 3 Operating Instructions User Interface The user interface software (UIS) is developed on a LabView platform. The software can be installed using Windows 9X, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. The user interface is used for configuration of the TopFlow Multiphase Meter. If the customers data acquisition system is not connected to the TopFlow meter, the TopFlow meter will be a stand-alone system and the user interface can then be used to monitor and display the measured data or data can be collected on discs and analysed on any other PC. Operating Instructions Operation The TopFlow Multiphase Meter can be operated as a stand-alone unit and/or interfaced to customer s data acquisition system. The operation of the TopFlow multiphase meter can all be accomplished via the TopFlow User Interface Software located on the PC. The TopFlow User Interface Software is described in a separate User Interface Software Manual. Manual Valves and Manifolds Differential Pressure There is normally a five-way manifold connected to the Differential Pressure (DP) transmitter. During normal operation the valves should be in the following position: 1 x Equalize : Closed 2 x Isolate : Open 2 x Bleed : Closed In addition the meters could be equipped with double block valves to isolate the piping from the instrument tubing. During normal operation these valves are open. Pressure There is normally a two-way manifold connected to the pressure transmitter. During normal operation the valves should be in the following position: 1 x Isolate : Open 1 x Bleed : Closed In addition the meters could be equipped with double block valves to isolate the piping from the instrument tubing. During normal operation these valves are open. Switching ON the Equipment There are circuit breakers inside the computer interface enclosure or 19" rack cabinet. When switching on the PC, Windows will be started and the icon for the TopFlow user interface software will be displayed on the screen. Double click on the icon to start the TopFlow UIS software. For some models there is a separate breaker for switching on power to the remote electronics in the Field Enclosure. Page 8 MNMP003 Issue/Rev. 0.1 (5/05)

Section 3 Operating Instructions Switching OFF the Equipment Exit the TopFlow program and shut down Windows properly. The equipment can then be switched off. User Interface Software (UIS) The UIS software is described in a separate User Interface Software manual. Well Tests There is flexibility in using the TopFlow meter for well testing. The well testing can be controlled from the TopFlow User Interface software or from the customer s control system. Two examples of steps required for well testing using TopFlow User Interface Software are shown below: Manually Started and Stopped Well Test It is very easy to carry out a well test following the steps below. 1. Select Start Well Test from the User Interface Software (UIS) when the operator is ready to start the well test. 2. Enter the well name (or any other tag) in the dialogue box that appears. 3. Select stop well test from the UIS when the test is finished. 4. The test results can be viewed or saved to a file from the UIS. See the User Interface Software manual for details. Selecting a Well Test Start and Stop Times While Viewing the Historical Display A well test can also be defined while viewing historical data. The advantage is that a time period where the well has been flowing stable can be selected as the time period for the well test. 1. Enter the historical display in the UIS. 2.Select a time window for the well test. 3.View or save the results to a file. If data is transferred to the customer s data acquisition system, well testing can be defined and reported by the customer s control system using the available options in that system. In such a case there is no need for the TopFlow meter to know the start and stop timings of the well test. Well Monitoring There is no routine operation required for using the TopFlow meter for well monitoring. If the fluid properties such as base densities or water salinity change, the parameters must be updated through the User Interface Software. For well monitoring it can be useful to set the long term averaging time to 24 hours. The daily production will then be displayed continuously in the User Interface. For well monitoring the TopFlow meter can be set to print a report for instance once a day (if a printer is connected to the TopFlow computer). This report can also be written to a file.
